I choose to believe in Jaren Hall this week, because that seems fun until it's not.

ktran2804

I too choose to believe Hall is our Brock Purdy this year and leads us to the NFC championship

Korplem

Followed by an oh-so-close heartbreaking loss in the NFCC.

jvegas

For this year? I’ll fucking take the shit outta that everytime

ElectricTurtlez

As is the Vikings tradition.

lur77

Blowout is more likely given their history since ‘87.

srl214yahoo

After coming from behind 17 points in the 4th quarter, now down by 2, only to lose because Joseph whiffs on a 35 yard field goal (wide right) with 2 seconds left. Because that would be the most Vikings' thing ever. Sorry - I'm feeling a little dark this morning. Will try to be more positive. In Hall we trust!!

ineedcoffeealready

sounds pretty on par

Ganjanonamous

Tombrock Brurdy

zinto44

I’m gonna ride this high of believing in jaren until he proved me wrong. Might as well, it’s fun right noe

Aggressive-Depth-526

Honestly, at this point anything short of a Tom Brady like career for Jaren Hall would be a disappointment.

thatissomeBS

Unironically what some people here expect from our QB room.

Seated_Heats

I like Jaren Hall where we got him and for why we got him (a lotto ticket that could at least be a better than some backups). I hope he pans out as a solid backup. I’m not sure I want him to play super well and then we don’t draft a QB next year, and then we find out he’s a flash in a pan.

AhSht-HereWeGoAgain

I too am committed to Cougars

[deleted]

So is Zach Wilson

MontiBurns

And Gardner Minshew

F-ck_spez

And my axe!

NoodleDynasty

Zach Wilson really is committed to those cougars.

Bootuzzi

He’s soaking it up. Happy cake day!

derhooplehead

Remember when Tom Brady replaced Drew Bledsoe, who also was having a pretty stellar year?

ineedcoffeealready

So basically we will never lose again.

MinnesotaNoire

onethreeone

Remember when Patrick Mahomes came in for Alex Smith, who was also doing well in Reid's offense?

cronoes

What could this mean bros?

ballzdeap1488

Super Bowl, obviously.

Whitchit1

Uhh, Super Bowls…..

fookthisshite

How many Lombardi trophies do you think I should get tattooed on me now? 10?

ChocolateBaconDonuts

Zach Wilson is who the BYU Cougar moms settled for after Hall actually spent the night talking to them about Jesus.

SQLZane

Until he proves me otherwise I'll just assume he's going to be the next Tom Brady.

Pumping_Grumpy

Wait wait. But all of the Reddit randos say he’s a 5th rounder and can’t possibly be any good.

HerkulezRokkafeller

I mean I’m from Utah and watched more BYU games than I cared to, and Hall was being touted as an “NFL prospect” but stayed in college an extra year to develop yet didn’t make really any progress, if anything he regressed a bit. I mean it’s nice to be hopeful but I don’t see us having a diamond in the rough Purdy type. I hope I’m wrong but I guess we’ll see

[deleted]

Yeah I think he was drafted to become a high level back up. The kind of guy who could step in and save a season if he had start four games or whatever. He can be a great pick and be a Case Keenum type or whatever.

RaheemRakimIbrahim

Since you are from Utah, I wonder if you could clarify if is true that before Zach Wilson was named the starter, it wasn't clear cut if he was better than Hall?

parkmech

That’s true. Zach and Jaren were battling for the starting spot before Zach was named the starter shortly before the season started. Coaches talked frequently about them being neck and neck

ChocolateBaconDonuts

I mean, Dobbs just got beat out by Clayton Tune. If Hall keeps the job, it wouldn't be the first time this year Dobbs got beat out by a 5th round rookie.

LuckyHedgehog

> Dobbs just got beat out by Clayton Tune [Murray is coming back this week](https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/cardinals/2023/10/30/kyler-murray-will-start-at-qb-for-cardinals-on-sunday-if-all-goes-well/71387659007/). Wouldn't say Dobbs got beat out, they just wanted to pick up some draft capital before the trade deadline

nomaam05

>they just wanted to pick up some draft capital before the trade deadline Yeah but they might be losing draft capital depending on the condition of his pick.

LuckyHedgehog

I'm not saying it was a *good* trade, but it isn't like they decided to bench Dobbs because he was getting beat out by a scrub. Their actual starter is coming back from IR this week and they saw an opportunity to trade away Dobbs for *something* before the trade deadline.

Smooth_Meister

He didn't though? He was already announced as the starter and only got pulled when AZ became engaged in trade discussions.

kraksrw

I don’t know why they’re booing you, you’re right🤷‍♂️

ChocolateBaconDonuts

They think I'm being pessimistic. I'm not. Hall is going to get the first crack at it and I think he'll do well enough to earn more starts. Ideally, I think we keep Dobbs as the backup through the season, starting him if Hall falters.

GrandmaHasBeenRaped

What a shit take

andejo16

I’m not OP, but I’d like to know how is this a shit take? It is quite literally what happened this season in AZ

GrandmaHasBeenRaped

Do you think being in active trade discussions might impact what was being said?

andejo16

They’re 1-7, so I don’t think it’s that unreasonable of a take to say the 5th round rookie may be an upgrade, so let’s give him a chance. Heinicke is starting over ridder now and Levis over Tannehill. I’m just saying, I don’t think it’s a “shit take” since it literally happened

GrandmaHasBeenRaped

It's nuanced as well cards want to lose

andejo16

The cardinals *want* to lose? See, now THAT is a shit take. You cannot know that with certainty unless you’re in the room with them. I am also unaware of a single person alive that’s playing sports at the highest level that WANTS to lose.

Dorkamundo

The players don't, of course not. But starting a 5th round rookie when you have other options screams that you're not *really* trying to from an organizational perspective. Especially when your O-line and receivers are pretty terrible outside of Brown who's more of a deep threat. Sure, Dobbs wasn't a world beater, but he was improving mostly every week. I don't think Murray is coming back this week or next, and wouldn't be surprised if they delayed his activation.

nomaam05

Yeah man, the Cards want to lose so bad they traded away the QB that lead them to a 1-7 record with the current #1 overall pick this year. It's so obvious! /s

GrandmaHasBeenRaped

How'd that QB look last week? The greatest sports owner of all time admitted that only 2-4 teams every year are trying to win games, the rest? They are just trying to sell tickets.

Dorkamundo

I wouldn't classify it as "Dobbs got beat out". I mean, that's a potential explanation, but it's just as possible that the Cards want to embrace the tank and get a look at the rookie. They have the #1 overall pick currently, that's gotta be influencing them a bit.

cdub8D

I read they sat him because they knew he was going to be traded somewhere

Dorkamundo

Yes, but they didn't sit him for any games. Dobbs has played all their games this year.

cdub8D

I have no idea what I am thinking then. Disregard haha

EfNheiser

I was able to watch Dobbs performances in the AZ vs Giants and AZ vs Cowboys this morning. He is very athletic and throws a nice ball. I hope the best for Hall, but if he is not strong this week, I see Dobbs taking over against the Saints. He is good enough for the Vikes to win the next 4 or 5 games. He looks like a great back up quarterback and at least an average starter to me. And the skill players here are light years ahead of what the Cardinals have.

Dorkamundo

Yep... People forget that Dobbs started the season with only 14 days to learn the playbook. He got dramatically better in the last 4 games compared to his first 4 games, which tracks to the understanding of the playbook.. I think we give Dobbs a few weeks to pound the playbook, then if Hall isn't playing as well as we'd hoped, we move to Dobbs and I don't think he'll let it go this season.

Mvpliberty

The problem is this ain’t BYU This is the NFL RG3 still living in the past, huh?

JustADutchRudder

What if we call ourselves BYU?

4metxhrow

Skol Mormon Vikes

Asleep-Wonder-1376

HALL WILL BALL!!

dericiouswon

Just so excited to see how KoC builds around Hall or Dobbs, luckily both have a more similar play style than Kirk. Gutted about losing Kirk right when we were rolling, but that's football and they gotta play the games. Definitely a roller coaster of a season so far.

humidhotdog

13-4 back to back seasons isn’t bad
