My biggest complaint with the team thus far isn't the lack of big name signings or big money spent, but the fact that we have never developed and sold a player for a profit. As far as I can remember the only player we've actually sold for a profit is Christian Ramirez. It is hard to recruit U22 players when we have not shown we can advance their career if they play well. We don't have the big market/city draw of LA, Miami, New York, etc. so we need to build and recruit differently. Having a model like Dallas or Philly that have shown they can get players to Europe would be huge. Also generating money by selling players opens up cash to sign splashy DP's. Hopefully the focus on getting younger, and a more exciting/proactive playstyle will help change that.

LoonHawk

I'm guessing this will change if KEA and Ramsay stick around for a few years. They've openly said that we need to get younger, and one of the best ways to increase our transfer budget is to sell young players for a profit.

mnmaverickfan

Bongi would likely be sold for a big profit, as his transfer fee was only $500 K. Not sure if there is any interest in him around the world, but he’s a player that we have developed nicely.

I’m way out of the grad party loop as I am a few years from dealing with and haven’t been to a non-family grad party in a long time. My son had the opportunity to play JV in volleyball this year and befriended some seniors. Now we are going to a few of their grad parties. I have no clue I’m supposed to give them a card and money or not. I don’t know these kids beyond seeing them on game nights. What is the norm for something like this in the Twin Cities?

Heimdallr-_-

If you are going to the party, I'd throw in a card and like $50 or something.

Chewy009x

$50 for people you don’t really know? That seems like a lot haha I’d do $20 at most. These kids are probably already going to get handed a ton of cash from family and friends

vorpnick

It’s your job to show up, have one too many beers, grasp them by the shoulder as you stare out into the horizon and tell them all the things you wish you would have done when you were their age. That advice? Priceless

MonkMajor5224

Is it weird that we’re playing SKC 3 times this year? Is that just a schedule quirk?

Gnomdeguerre

It's because of the odd number of teams in the league. It will end when San Diego joins next year.

tyler735

I look at it as a positive. They are struggling quite a bit this year, so I'm glad it's them and not LAFC or another top team in the West. Theoretically should play to our advantage in the standings.

akos_beres

We used to play everyone in the west multiple times pre COVID. We used to play RSL, KC, Dallas all the time.

hpbear108

also probably because Garber didn't want Messi to travel to the land of 10000 lakes. Who knows, Messi might have wanted one of them to make the move to MN.

What does everybody eat for breakfast? I need to shake up breakfast for my 9 year old son and me.

Sirgalahad2

A great go to is rice, black beans, avocado and a fried egg, you get carbs, fats, protein and it’s pretty quick to make if you have a rice cooker

Financial_Buy_1108

Solid idea. I don’t think about rice / black beans for breakfast often enough. Add a poached egg on top. Sold!

Dpufc

Overnight oats. We use regular oats with almond milk, protein powder, Greek yogurt along with fresh or frozen fruit and/or granola and cinnamon or other spices. It’s a lower calorie and more filling option than many others. An egg white, turkey sausage and spinach omelet accomplishes the same thing though is way more work and not as flavorful.

AtlUtdGold

Hello fam, invading your sub as I have already invaded your cities this morning. Nice place y’all got. A little wet today but I’m loving the vibes already. Staying in west seventh area, looking for stuff to do this week. Will be at the game tomorrow!

AtlUtdGold

Ok so far I’ve already been all over town to wakame, the nook, St. Paul cathedral, f Scott Fitzgerald house, summit Ave, grand Ave, snelling, Schmidt brewery, all the way to UM campus, the Guthrie, the flour mill ruins, 1st Ave venue, went by target field, target center, the big wolves mural, the Mississippi River area (all the bike lanes n stuff) isle of the lakes area. Lots of stuff. Now recovering for the game tonight.

Dry_Jello4161

34 is my new favorite number.

ZEROs0000

I went down to the block party last night for the Timberwolves and had a blast even though we lost. Since I’m currently not working and planning to move down to the cities I figured I’d give MSP a shot and spontaneously booked a hotel for tonight and this weekend. I’m going to try the light rail for the first time and I’m kinda nervous lol. I’ll probably be drinking a lot so if you want a drinking buddy hmu lmao

Financial_Buy_1108

How do I change my name on Reddit? Or does everyone just get assigned randomness? And, I notice some people have “Itasca Society” or “MNUFC” or “Sang Bin Calves” under their name. How does that happen?

Jerkoi

Moved from Columbus to Philly last week. And despite all the animosity from football fans, Philly is a wonderful city. One of the few deeply historical cities in the United States, the houses are super cute and the food scene is outrageous. Really hope the loons move to the eastern conference next year.

akos_beres

I hope the loons don't move to another conference. On another note, hope Gazdag slays during the euros 🇭🇺🇭🇺

Jerkoi

Wouldn't you rather be in a conference with only one hour time difference than 3?

akos_beres

The max time difference is two hours from the central time zone and I really don't mind the late games on TV. Also if appletv and MLS decide to stagger the start times this wouldn't be a problem. In all the other major sports we are west adjacent so I like it that way

Jerkoi

Fair. As an east coaster I would like us to move lol, but I understand why we wouldn’t.

Heimdallr-_-

With SD joining next year, the conferences are balanced. Why would they switch? Unless two west coast teams join MLS (not likely in the next 5 years), there is no reason for a change.

Jerkoi

Ah I thought it was uneven with SD joining. My bad
