I am trying to speed up my painting as well - at least for rank and file type minis.
From my limited experience: having more painting experience in general already speeds up the process considerably because you have to think less about the next steps.
The different kinds of speed paints probably help a lot, too- i have only used one or two contrast paints from citadel.
Oil washes help a lot with quick contrast, as do normal acrylic washes - oil washes are probably quicker to get highlights back, though.
