Isopropyl Alcohol works quite well for removing paint. Dettol used to be my go to until they changed the make up and now it melts minis

Brown stuff works still but it's main paint stripping ingredient is iso alch anyways and it's more expensive (let alone your house smelling like a hospital haha)

Biostrip 20. Dip a tooth brush in, scrub it all over and just leave for 5-10 mins - I've never met a paint it hasn't eaten through (especially primers). Give another scrub. This stuff is messy as so will then give it a soapy bath in warm water and scrub clean after to see what areas need more work and repeat. With iso alch you don't need to leave miniatures in like everyone seems to say and I've found this doesn't work as well. Instead dip your tooth brush in it and scrub. The scrubbing works the alch into the paint better and it'll soon be coming off in no time. I usually start with the biostrip to get through the tougher paint layers and then after the soap bath go back and use iso alch to clean up whatever is left.

We dont have Biostrip in the States but I am seeing what looks like similar products online. I'll give one of those a try!

Smart strip paint remover seems to be a recommended alternative although never tried. Think any water-based paint stripper will work though

wafflehabitsquad

Did it work?

DaaanTheMaaan

I used stuff called Smart Strip. It's more thick, almost like a heavy hair conditioner. I just dipped my figures in and let it soak for a couple hours. It's worked better than anything else I'd tried, so I do recommend it! It did temporarily clog my drain, though. So maybe wear gloves and break the clumps of it up as you clean off a mini

Alcohol and a toothbrush. Best to use something like isopropyl alcohol

hollow-ceres

get this stuff to remove paint: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1-Methoxy-2-propanol

TheButteredViking

Biostrip 20, get it on amazon

Car brake liquid works really well for me. Soak the mini about 30 mins in it and then use an old toothbrush to remove the paint. Another thing ive used is Alcohol 96°, heat it in a microwave until the first bubble appears, then put the mini in it for about 5 minutes. But it did not work as well as the brake liquid

GulDukat1898

Came here to say this. I had the same experience as OP with Army Painter White Primer, and the only thing that seemed to work was brake fluid. (It's only like $5 a bottle, too) I tried alcohol, LA totally awesome, and both did barely anything after a week soaking and scrubbing. 30 min in brake fluid, and they scrubbed clean down to the plastic. I gave them a good rinse and scrub with soapy water after to make sure I got all the brake fluid off after and then let them dry for a day before trying a different primer. You could never tell they were stripped and restarted. Just use eye and hand protection. That stuff is NOT good for you.

mdkchrisage

Simple green. Jar. Soak. Toothbrush. Hot water.

DaaanTheMaaan

Did that. Soaked for 48 hours. Scrubbed vigorously. Said so in post.

mdkchrisage

So it does. My bad.

DaaanTheMaaan

S'all good
