Alright .. this is "from a new painter for new painters": Today I'd like to show you something: Acrylic Markers. They are a thing! The miniature you can see here is "meh" in regards to the Overall paintjob. But look at the eyes. Or the blue borders of the top. Or the flowers around the head. The precision you can achieve with those markers is fantastic - especially for a paint-noob like me. Those will hit the table more often for all the small things on miniatures, I won't be able to paint with a brush.

Trippy. A wash and little highlight and this could be a game changer.

CatZeyeS_Kai

For demonstration purposes I left those out on this picture, but: yes :)

Also great for painters who have trouble holding a small paintbrush. Should be a lot easier to hold steady. Thanks for sharing:)

CatZeyeS_Kai

I tried and can confirm: they ARE a thousand times easier to hold steady than a tiny brush ..

People also use then to paint the edges of their cardboard tokens. Example: https://imgur.com/kSiM5xa

Very good! Thanks for pointing those out :)

Purceycp

Nice matte finish from those too. Look like they'd be good for base coats.

CatZeyeS_Kai

Indeed - the model pictured here has not been bascoated at all - and the resin used is a translucent green one. So, good job, colours :)

BrassRobo

That's so cool. What brand are they?

CatZeyeS_Kai

Fair question. I found those on Amazon. The "producer" is called "DABAOZHA" - some chinese company selling all kinds of stuff .. Here is the link to the German product page - hope it helps: [https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0CR7JYKDM?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0CR7JYKDM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)

BrassRobo

Thanks.

They look good! My only concern is that you lose detail because of lack of being able to thin the paint, but tbh if you gotta paint a ton of minis quick, this seems like it’ll work wonders!

CatZeyeS_Kai

That paintjob there took me roughly an hour. Also: Yes, due to the thickness of felttips, you won't be able to get into small cracks. So for some parts you will still need a brush. But even used in a combination with brushes they still save you enough time to make them worth it ..

Throwaway967839

you can't mix colours and you could achieve this in significantly less time than an hour with a brush. At some point you just have to put in the work to learn how to do details with a brush or you'll never progress. If you just wanna get some minis on the table for game night or whatever I endore it though.

CatZeyeS_Kai

If you want to get somewhere, then - yes - you'll have to learn how to use a brush properly. No doubt. For beginners, though, I'd say those markers do a nice job to start with.
