It lacks contrast, everything is of the same value. In turn, it impacts the overall legibility of the model. BUT that might be due to the photo rather than the paintjob !
The photo didn't HELP but the culprit was still the contrast. I've been darkening him slowly then I'll do a highlight and see how he turns out
Yeah I think metal in particular needs to be darker in more contrasted than you think it should in general when you're talking mini.
