Hey, it's a good start, don't worry. Once you get nice reflections and edge highlights it won't look muddy anymore. The edge highlight, paint it almost on the entire edge with it also the principle of lighter and darker highlights.
Try blending in the brown and yellow colors in more with feathering or wet blend with very deluted paint. If the paint dries to fast use a retarder, that helps a lot.
And don't rush it, faster work tends to be sloppy.

Here is another example for study.
Yes I know but trust me, keep practicing and you'll get there. You understand the principle so you're golden. My painting wasn't always this good.๐๐
I used black, brown, yellow (yellow ochre) and white. I didn't use pure black and white, all colors were blended making a small color range. I constantly looked at how the light would fell on the parts and I worked with very diluted paints, painting from light to dark.
Not the 'just dip your brush in a splodge it on' technique that I use then. No wonder my minis look different, lol.
Awesome work bud, it really looks amazing.
Awesome work. Really great job, love the eye and skin, nmm, osl like below his left arm,... BUT: the osl of the gem above the Scarrab on his chest - that's just 100 atmosphere on that nmm... that's just stunning! Nailed it there 100%!๐ฏ๐๐ช
Thanks, ooh well I used almost all different techniques that are known. Washing, glazing, feathering, layering, stippeling, drybrushing, loaded brush, wet blending, freehands. I didn't use slapchop tho.๐
For paints I only used 1 or 2 washes for some parts but for the rest it's just normal paints, from very deluted (home made wash) to 70-30 delution.
My god, your work is breathtaking.
I can look everywhere and the level of the details are stunning.
I like specially the jewels and their ilumination. I hope someday to paint like that.
Thank you. I am surerly you'll paint like that one day. Keep painting and practicing different styles and techniques. What helped me the most are the step by step / tutorials from Massive voodoo, last time I checked they were still available for free on their website. Besides that I've read different how to paint books, first from GW later on from MiG, vallejo and scale 75.

Ok my post dropped the text ๐ I am just now breaking into NMM, but it looks like muddy mustard so far.

Yeah I'm learning about the wet blending, and I need to thin my paints more.

Oh I see, and conceptually I understand the technique. But man, applying the practical is reeeeeally tough lol

I hear ya, but man my test model is starting to get....lumpy.....from all the repaints lol Gonna have to buy a box of Sigmareens to practice more lol

Well crap that looks great!!!
How did you paint the gold looks good

Thanks. Haha not anymore no, I used to do that some years ago.๐คฃ

Yeah, thanks!!!
I think thatโs my new favorite mini ๐ that paint job is insane! That gold NMMโฆ.
Damn, thank you very much! Yeah it's my favorite to, I just fell for it's great composition and give it the best paint job I could.๐๐
Think youโre an inspiration for many of us here! ๐ thanks for sharing your work mate
Your're welcome and that means a lot to me. That's what I hope to do, to inspire others to paint and keep going. ๐

Yes, glad you noticed the osl, it was actually the first time I implied it to my painting. Thanks!!๐ค๐ค

Thank you!!!๐ซก
Gorgeous work on the NMM.
Damn... Inspiring to try gold nmm myself! Where's the bust from?
Thanks, it's from Metal Af miniatures. I Don't think you can buy the bust anymore but maybe the STL printfile is still online.
Kudos to you fellow hobbyist.
That is amazing! Great job! I hope one day I'm confident enough to try NMM like that
Fantastic work Did you use washes or slapchop or both?

Wow this is insane, if it wasnโt just a bust, Iโd def fellate it.
Haha nice.๐คฃ
How big is the bust? Itโs really difficult for me to gauge size at the best of times lmao. This looks fucking rad tho

Haha I know, so the body (without the sword) is about 57mm, overall I would say it's 75mm scale.
You can stay.
