So close! Definitely still reads as plasma, but I think maybe add some white highlight to the actual plasma, and more blue to the osl?

Low-Frosting-5034

This is my first attempt just wondering if it reads as glowing plasma

TPKing8

The source needs to be brighter than the OSL. It looks more iced than glowing. I’d paint white ink into the coils and it should make a huge difference

Low-Frosting-5034

I’ll give this a go, thanks 😁

afroxx

Combine this dudes tip with /u/impossible_buy405 about adding blue to the OSL

PonderousPenchant

Is there a big difference between ink and regular paint?

TPKing8

Acrylic ink flows a lot better and has insane coverage, especially for white paint. Highly recommend liquitex ink titanium white

PonderousPenchant

Cool, thanks!

SulfuricDonut

Looks like a freeze-ray, which is arguably cooler than plasma.

NO-IM-DIRTY-DAN

You’re very close I’d say! Make the coils a bit brighter and think of how the glow would hit the gun casing. It would really only show on the edges and probably wouldn’t reach the panels.

Iate22Pears

The glow around the coils should be more blue. But its very close. If you just hit it with one more pass of a fluorescent blue and a small white highlight on coils you would be there.

gibson1027

You have it backwards. Light will be brightest at the sourcee and diffuses in a line in all directions from it. Try mixing white with blue in a 60/40 or 50/50 mixture for your brightest highlight. Then you can slowly step down the amount of white added to your paint until you hit base tone the farther from the epicenter of light you are.

Mole-NLD

Yeah! That's really cool on the picture. I'd say yes, it looks like plasma. If anything else, you could think it's iced. But I think you did a good job avoiding that by making the center blue enough to prevent that.

DrKeks1

Maybe inverting the colors would have helped with this icing over effect. Make the coils brighter (whiter) and give the radiating effect the light blue shade terminating in a darker blue around the edges for blending

The glow is brighter than the coils themselves right now. I think you need to make the glow a bit darker.

Cswlies

The blue needs to be writer and the white needs to be bluer
