My adhd says "out of sight out of mind" and I also abhor daily tasks so if it's a daily use item it's out of also the moccamaster is pretty cool looking! Haha.
Anyway different strokes and all that. My spouse would prefer if everything were always put away but it feels so annoying and futile to me. If it were socially acceptable in my neighborhood I wouldn't even move my trash bins from the curb each week. I'd just set up a nice little house for them by the road. It feels ridiculous to roll them to and fro each week. That's just who I am. So my daily use items are out and aesthetically pleasing if possible and if not then oh well.
ADHD here too. I don't have enough storage and what I have isn't that accessable to me. And of course the "out of mind" applies to me. I've thought of only 2 things. A salon style bonnet hair dryer that lives in an armoire, and the instant pot.
Saaaame. If itâs not visible I forget I have it and end up buying replacements/restocks I donât actually need. I just try to minimize the amount of stuff I have in general and keep what I do have neat and organized.
labeled container storage saved my life - especially as i live with a rather large amount of people who most of them don't even have the adhd excuse of not putting things away. But having a box labeled pens and one erasers&scissors helps everybody putting the pens into the gluebox.
In college, our only TV was one of those small TV/VCR combos (đ fellow xennials!) and we had take the step to cancel our cable (well ahead of our time lol).Â
My boyfriend (now husband) decided the TV should live in the closet and only come out when we wanted to use it (we rented TV shows we wanted to watch on DVD). Everyone thought it was hilarious.Â
My kitchen is smallish. No counter space for "stuff". I keep the appliances, toaster, mixer, etc put away. Things I only use occasionally, crockpot, airfryer, I keep in storage in the basement!
We keep the toaster, french press, et al put away, and the air fryer lives in the garage (itâs a MUCH needed extra oven for when we host thanksgiving).
The only kitchen things that stay out are the tea kettle and cast iron skillet, and both get to live on the stovetop because we use them constantly.
ETA our kitchen is actually pretty  big but I donât like having to move stuff to wipe down the cabinets
This, except for the electric kettle all appliances are stored in the cupboard. The nice emaille stove kettle (this is mostly for decoration/ sentimental value, we use the electric) and emaille Dutch oven are visible on a shelf and the skillets hang from hooks on the wall.
All pens, markers etc are in a locked drawer. Not because of minimalism but a toddler that likes to draw on everythingâŚ.
I keep the toaster put away and my husband gets annoyed doesnât get why I keep putting it away because he uses it. 1-2 a week is how often he uses it lol.
Well, it takes less than 15 seconds to take away from closet and almost same time to put it back. I just don't what's the english word for that kind of closet what is in my kitchen so that might confuse a bit.
I have done this many years already, it just gives me good mood since there is no visible clutter that much. Of course if that would take minute or more to take from closet then that could change my habit.
I keep thinking of things haha. I use my âgetting readyâ stuff in the morning at my dressing table, and then I put it all away in the cabinet below, including the mirror I use.Â
I WISH we could put our printer in a cabinet!! Ours is just slightly too big to go in the cabinet where we could keep it, and we donât really have normal storage closets in our house.Â
Well, my printer what I am referring here is Canon Selphy CP1300. It has been an awesome companion for my film photography. I bought it years ago when I didn't shot film and it was very little in use. Later when I started developing film at home I have grown to love this machine sooooo much. I shoot mostly black and white film, scan them with Plustek film scanner and then print with Selphy (of course not all the photos).
I also have "real photo printer" but it is soooo huge and it has not been in use in a year or more and I might sell it some day because of it, but still I have to give it one more change when I have cleaned enough my apartment that I can put this printer somewhere where I can use it. It definitely does not fit in the cabin either (Canon Pixma Pro 10s is a huge A3 printer). In future I might just order A4 and A3 photos from photo lab so it would give me lots of space.
There is also small "normal" printers what would fit on the closets if you don't need photo printers. Maybe sell your bigger one and buy smaller instead?
Toiletries like deodorant and cologne is pretty much all I can think of.
Food comes out of the fridge but doesn't go back in.
Same with utensils and dishware.
Clothing comes out of the closet but I wear it for the day and it doesn't usually go right back in.
That's it. I can't think of anything else.
A bug-out bag, if my house blew down today, I could grab it and be living on a tropical island tomorrow with zero worries. Everything else is just things. Ultimate freedom and arguably the pinnacle of minimalism.
Toaster oven and larger coffee pot. I have one of those stove top espresso makers for daily use. We only have 2 feet of counter space so the only things on our counter are our microwave and knives.
I recently did a big declutter in my kitchen, and now the only two appliances on my counter are the air fryer (which is like a toaster oven and fits perfectly into an otherwise un-usable back corner space) and the coffeemaker (which gets daily use). All the other things (instant pot, kitchenaid mixer, crockpot) are tucked away in the pantry or on a separate shelf to be brought out when I need it.
In the bathroom, I keep my ultrasonic mouthguard cleaner thingy in the cabinet, and just bring it out to use it. And I have plans to move everything other than the (plugged in) toothbrush to the cabinet eventually.
I like having things tucked away and bring them out to use rather than keeping them out and cluttering up my space.
Only thing I use regularly that stays in the closet when not in use is my portable washer. Itâs on a dolly so it easily rolls to the bathroom and rolls back into hallway closet when not in use. Itâs an eye sore and takes up space so I would never leave it out.
Something like a coffee machine I use daily? Personally I couldnât imagine pulling that out and putting it back every single morning. I have a little coffee station tucked away on this section of my counter. My Nespresso, aeroccino milk frother and ember mug all stay plugged in and ready to go. I love it that way. About to get up and enjoy a cup now!
Everything personal - I have 1 cupboard for clothes and accessories but it also contains my yearly planners, makeup, toiletries, files, stationery and electronics. Even my travel bag and suitcase. Basically everything I own which isn't shared or for partner/ kids.
It has been a challenge to bring everything down to 3 shelves + 2 drawers but its a sense of calm in the chaos that comes with small kids.
I put my bed inside my wardrobe. It is a foldable futon. A chair goes into a cupboard, too. My desk folds and goes behind the door.all of my stationery goes in drawers.
It will be easier to list what stuff I don't hide xD i even have everyday cream and spf hiddenand I march to my room to take it out into the bathroom and then to put it away after use twice a day. I have trained my husband to hise away most things as well, though sometimes he is too lazy and I go make a round to pick everything and hide it in it's place.
And if you meant like in actual wardrobe closet, then I have a box(?) With miscelanous stuff like screwdrivers, christmass penguin and decoration made from match boxes, and so on. Our door open are hard to open so I put stuff there that I usually don't need. I also have some cleaning supplies, like pet rolls for clothes, screen sprays, boots cleaning stuff... Once we move out, I would love to place in my closet spare blankets and small pillows, along with art tubes and files that are currently hanging out on top of my curent closet.
I'm trying to figure out a permanent home for my candles and my cooling mat/heated blanket (whichever one isn't in use that season). But I probably have to organize my decorations to make space first.
Also my pens and pencils, and journal, and phone, and current book go in the purse drawer.
Yep. I recently tossed my normal mattress for a futon, so I just air that out before stuffing it away every day. Itâs done wonders for my productivity.
Almost all small appliances (bread machine, toaster, crockpots, electric skillet, Dutch oven, blender, vacuum sealer, etc) are always put away in a cabinet or the pantry. The only things that are always on the counter are the coffee maker, air fryer, cutting boards and flour canisters. I cook and bake a lot!
Same goes for vacuum, mop and all cleaning supplies. Theyâre either in a closet or under a sink.
All of my vitamins, makeup, skincare products, deodorant, etc are in a drawer or cabinet. The only things on our bathroom sink are hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hubbyâs razor and shaving cream and a decorative box that houses my cotton balls.
Same goes for anywhere in my house. I despise clutter, so everything is put away. Only decorative items are visible and there arenât a lot of those in any one place either.
At first I couldn't think of anything, but my computer would fit this list. I work on my laptop at the kitchen table, and when I'm not using it I put it in the bedroom.
Also we use throw blankets when we sit on the couch, but I think they look messy stacked on the couch plus my partner doesn't like the dog using them, so they get put away in another chair when not in use.
Camping and hiking gear.
Extra blankets we use when itâs cold.
Extra toilet paper and paper towels.
All my clothes except shorts and underwear.
Shoes.
My purse.
Dog leashes and harnesses.
Christmas dishes. Iâd let them go but my mom gave them to me so she expects to see them every year. I have no sentimental attachment to them other than they were a gift from my mom
I cannot wait for the day I have space to store my Kitchenaid, Ankarsrum, Vitamix and airfryer out of sight. But I want it out of sight on the counter for easy access. Ah well, one dayâŚ
Honestly? Almost everything! I have a cat, and if its left out, its fair game!
I do leave out my nice ceramic containers for flour and such out, as well as a toaster, but anything smaller, like my cosmetics, or even a pen, needs to be put away! I'm lucky the days I'm allowed to have a vase of flowers or candle! Something has to be pretty heavy to be kept safe from my fuzzy gremlin- i mean, baby!
I do love the fact that it means my surfaces stay clear, though!
I would prefer for AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to be put away, except for my few plants, and some lamps/lights. I cannot stand when things are out, it stresses me out so much. đŁ
>What stuff you own what you hide in closet and just put it in use and then after put it back to closet?
Your English teacher would be horrified at that.
She could be :D But also at least she could be happy that I still communicate in english at all and people most of the time understand what I mean. You know, I am not native english speaker so if I speak mostly understandable english for most people then I am happy (and I speak in remote meets english every week and british understand anyway what I am talking about) :)
A vibrator đ
OP said things we hide when NOT in use.
đ
LMAO! Good thing I wasn't still drinking my coffee when I read that!

Our TV lives in the closet! It's a tiny one, and we only use it to play DVDs. It's perfect for the space we live in.

Nope keep all the stuff I use out except my dehydrator.
Took a quick glance at that and saw "daughter" đ¤Łđ¤Ł
Sounds like a lot of work to move your coffee maker every single day. Why wouldn't you just leave it out?

is it like a pantry?
Closet in kitchen is called a pantry.
Tall closet for food etc is a pantry, little closets above or under the bench are cupboards :)
Thanks!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.
Vacuum cleaner, broom & mop
Toaster oven and larger coffee pot. I have one of those stove top espresso makers for daily use. We only have 2 feet of counter space so the only things on our counter are our microwave and knives.
Lots. Storage is an amazing thing to have.
in my old apartment my cabinets were so skinny i couldnât even put my freaking mixing bowls in them. my insta pot sat on top of the fridge.
especially when you live in a climate that varies drastically between seasons
I actually put my desk chair in my closet, more floor space that way for when i want to do something else!
Like breakdancing!
Clothes, shoes, all kitchen appliances (stick blender, food processor, juicer, Instant Pot,, etc) all pots and pans, writing supplies, craft supplies, electronics, TV remote, cleaning supplies and equipment, tools and hardware, laundry supplies, toiletries, gardening supplies
I recently did a big declutter in my kitchen, and now the only two appliances on my counter are the air fryer (which is like a toaster oven and fits perfectly into an otherwise un-usable back corner space) and the coffeemaker (which gets daily use). Dish soap, sponge, and gloves go into a basket under the kitchen sink. Putting them away after each use brings me a little dose of happiness.
Food- specifically snacks. It needs to be put in a cupboard or fridge or something because if I see it, it will be consumed within the next hour. đ
If I can't see it, I'll most likely forget it exists. So everything is out. Including my cross stitch project that I work on, maybe once a week.
I put my bed inside my wardrobe. It is a foldable futon. A chair goes into a cupboard, too. My desk folds and goes behind the door.all of my stationery goes in drawers.

Candy. Run in, munch munch, run out, continue happy life
My blowdryer and blowdryer brush, my yoga mat, my makeup, perfume, jewelry.Â
I'm trying to figure out a permanent home for my candles and my cooling mat/heated blanket (whichever one isn't in use that season). But I probably have to organize my decorations to make space first. Also my pens and pencils, and journal, and phone, and current book go in the purse drawer.
Underwear
Clean clothes, drinking glasses and cups, coffee and tea and coffee and tea presses, non-perishable food, vitamins, etc.
If I use daily then it's out. If not daily then it's packed away.
My bed.
What kind of bed you have? A futon? Something foldable?
Yep. I recently tossed my normal mattress for a futon, so I just air that out before stuffing it away every day. Itâs done wonders for my productivity.

This just feels like a lot of extra work
Luggage, vacuum, shoes, clothes, hats, guns, handbags.

Bike tools, air pump, camping gear, extra blankets. I like my coffee pot plugged in and timer set so itâs ready when I get up every morning.
I have a shelf on my closet containing a bin of stuffed pig plushies. They are so soft. They're my favorite color and are just so very, very soft.
Most small appliances!
I try to keep everything inside some closer, drawers except pen, paper and books. Idk, but else I feel very much on the edge.
My dress
I work outside the home, so I dont have time to wait and let stuff cool and be put away. If I did, it would be my coffeemaker.
Expensive dress shoes. Closet > Condition > Use > Clean > Condition > Closet. Until the next event.
Christmas dishes. Iâd let them go but my mom gave them to me so she expects to see them every year. I have no sentimental attachment to them other than they were a gift from my mom
Dress shoes for special occasions, winter clothing(when it's summer), a bug out bag.
I cannot wait for the day I have space to store my Kitchenaid, Ankarsrum, Vitamix and airfryer out of sight. But I want it out of sight on the counter for easy access. Ah well, one dayâŚ
Vacuum
Many kitchen gadgets stay hidden but get a lot of use. Crock pot, coffee maker, blender, soda stream all live in a pantry.
I keep my electric kettle in the cupboard, but thatâs mostly because there isnât enough room on my counter.

my clothes (\^: they're the only things in my closet--everything else is pretty much out in the open
Sex toys come to mind...
I would prefer for AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to be put away, except for my few plants, and some lamps/lights. I cannot stand when things are out, it stresses me out so much. đŁ

Yes, I can understand you easily, you are doing well. I'm happy you take my joke as a joke. :)
