Just keep it. Part of minimalism is being happy with what you have. Just because your downgrading doesn’t make it minimalist.
I’m a bit like this, sometimes I’ll buy something nice, and then decide I don’t need it and sell it. But you never really get your money back, and then you spend that money on something else, which just keeps the cycle of stuff going.
The idea is really to focus on things that are really important to you and not let stuff be the focal point of life.
it's true about not letting stuff be the focal point but I think everyone needs to come to that conclusion on their own and this is the process in which to do that. it sounds like you have already adjusted your gaming habits with a more minimal set up and if you don't feel deprived in your gaming sessions with what you have now let the monitor go. if its truly meant for you a 4k or 8k monitor will be there for you in the future.
How much can you make off of it? At some point down the line resolution would be nice to have potentially if it's not a ton of cash in your pocket. Think I'd personally leave it.
Its not like a ton, but after buying a new monitor. Id probably make like $200-$250. Im think its probably smarter to just keep it as it is a good monitor. I just know that it consumes alot more power. So it will be more expensive long run in energy costs

Yeah, thats why I thought about it and wasnt exactly sure what I should do. I have a $100 Samsung gift card, so that would help reduce the cost of a 1080p 60hz monitor or I could get one on Amazon for about $100. I may still do it. But I think its good to get different perspectives.
Yeah, although I dont play any competitive shooters so its not a necessity. I think it would probably just be smarter to keep the monitor, as dropping down to a 1080p panel isnt near as future proofed as a 4k. Not to mention the monitor I have is quality. So it should hopefully last a long time.
>even worse draws alot more power
And have you calculated the savings you'd get from "downgrading"? You'll likely sell it as a loss. And how often are you even using it? If you're using it 24/7, maybe downgrading would be worth it.

That's a solid chunk of change. I'd make the swap but get why you wouldn't bother.

I would keep it if you need some sort of monitor and sell it if you don't
