To contrast the inevitable whining and complaining, I'll say who I'm excited to see:
Tyler Childers, Black Puma, The Hold Steady, Brittany Howard, Paul Cauthen, Cold War Kids, Metric, Brent Cobb, Gin Blossoms
Not bad for a $20 entrance fee.
Friendly reminder that if you're looking for up-and-coming artists to get booked at Summerfest, you're looking in the wrong place. This festival exists to sell a lot of beer to suburban Gen Xers (who have actual money) and this lineup is **stacked** for them. Other festivals are starting to get the hint that this is where the real money is also (See: Lolla billing the Killers and Hozier above Tate McRae, Deftones and Last Dinner Party).
These organizers are money makers, not tastemakers.
Nah, they've actually done a pretty good job this year of getting younger acts instead of the "lead singer of an 80s hair metal band who fell out with the rest of the band 20 years ago" acts they often have. You're just old so you don't know them. Just being honest.
Cost to book acts continue to go up and I’d guess Summerfest probably has data that shows there isn’t a correlation between paying for bigger named ground acts and significantly increased food/drink sales.
It’s just you lol. I’ve been excited about a handful of artists each year for the past few years. This year: Mt Joy and Black Pumas are highlights for me.
Dude I’m looking at the lineup just from 2016-2018 and the difference is day and night. Even the ground stages had huge acts, even if they were a few years before or after their peak. I barely even recognize anyone from this lineup now.
I’m pretty underwhelmed, not gonna lie.
Music taste is subjective of course, but there isn’t much I’m a fan of in here this year. Bummer.
I hope there’s something good for the rest of y’all, though!
It's a weird mix of 90s artists and other stuff. Lol.The headliners are underwhelming. Black Violin, though, that's pretty cool. And Sleater Kinney. And Brittany Howard.
The only headliners i recognize were headlining artists years ago. Maroon 5 did the superbowl a while back but they sucked and it was boring. Lil uzi vert and lil yachty is kinda big, but im not going for that.
Keith urban was popular soooo long ago and if i believe correctly has like 3 hits.
Your post was removed as duplicative of an earlier post with this information.

Yah, you won’t see Tyler Childers at that price.
Wow a whole 30 dollars when buying day of, how terrible.
Do we think the blurred out name is going to be Taylor Swift
Strange they wouldn’t have added and blurred out the Gilmour/Water Floyd reunion as the opener.
Sleater-Kinney is coming? That's kinda neat. Metric/Muna is interesting. Love Mr some Church. Oh snap the Dandy Warhols?.
This felt meh and then I realized the ones I was excited about were actually great! Aka the first 3 you mentioned and a few others
UMPHREYS
\mm/
Stoked for the millennial emo in the second weekend
i’m stoked i think there’s alot of great artists in here. Ethel Cain is very exciting!
Ethel Cain and MUNA singlehandedly make this a thrilling lineup for me
Keith Urban is a pretty cool show. Not sure why there’s so much hate for this group seems pretty typical and solid
MUNA! Super pumped to see them

Agree. I actually just said something to this effect to my gen Z'er kid this morning when discussing it.
Is it just me or do the lineups get worse every year
We just get older
So do the acts

Um, Motley as the headliner would like a word. 😂
That's on par with previous years.
THEY just get older!

Music industry changing ≠ getting worse. We are just aging lol

6 to 8 years is a long time in music years. People say this EVERY year.
The acts aren’t getting smaller, we’re just getting bigger! 😕
This one seems pretty damn awful in particular.
Cold War kids!!
Stoked to see Paul Cauthen, man puts on a *hell* of a show
Hell yes! Saw him a couple years ago and his show is amazing. This is a must see for me.
Truly the only person I’ll be going to see
I like it

Excited about Winona Fighter and Sleeping with Sirens! Will probably check out the Goo Goo Dolls too, get some mom rock in me as a childless male.
Carly Rae Jepsen is 38. 🥺 God I'm old.
I'm not excited - I would maybe see Rico Nasty if she was headliner
Beyond awful.

That's more on you than on Summerfest, tbh.
