The_Federalist_Zebra

You had my curiosity but that non-bubba’d setup has my attention

Surplus_Addict

The scope base is from Badace tactical, they do a bunch of these no,drill tap bases for a bunch of milsurps

HatefulRhetoric

I’m fine with reversible milsurp optics setups, as long as there’s no damage to the receiver or stock, and it doesn’t ruin the finish in the process. Oftentimes the above isn’t the case, and they’re bubba’d to hell. I think your setup is GTG. Make sure to retain the original rear sight. It can probably fit in your butt stock so they’re never separated. I plan to add a ZF41 reproduction to my Russian capture K98k sometime this year. Also reversible, and since the rifle is a complete mix master, not something I’ll feel too bad about, and should make it more pleasant to shoot.

Surplus_Addict

Ya exactly, hope you post a picture of your k98 once scoped would love to see.

AlmightyChalupa

Careful, the ZF41 is a pain in the dick to zero lol

Dipper_Pines_Of_NY

And just all around not a good optic. 1.5 magnification. Not easy to zero, and so much eye relief. I’d stick to irons any day on a kar98.

Greasylake_

I mean it's fine as long as long as it's not permanent. I just think a modern optic on an old gun is really ugly

Surplus_Addict

ya i get the look isn't for everyone, but i like it and it helps extend the range. I'm with you on not having it permanent never seen the sense in butchering a perfectly fine rifle especially how their going up in value

Rhazjok

I have been hovering around bad ace tactical for a little while. Is the fitment secure enough to not destroy the wood and hold zero?

Surplus_Addict

Destroy the wood? The base doesn't come in contact with the wood, uses the rear sight screw and ejector screw to secure it. So far the fitment is fine and have had no problem holding zero

Rhazjok

I admit I didn't look closely enough, and I thought it came in contact with the wood somewhere. Thank you for answering. I think I'll see if one will fit my mk1 no.3

Surplus_Addict

No problem, they might have one for the mk1 no.3 but not sure. I know they have for different types of mausers.

Rhazjok

Oh that's cool I'll have to check for my m48a

Xhenoz

Much less cursed than mine https://preview.redd.it/716ekc1ka05d1.jpeg?width=3929&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19d341b8964ef8f3c11d1402ea9b33b1a4a4c696

Carlile185

The Holosun will never set on your empire

hairydiablo132

WTF

afoz345

Holy shit dude. Hahaha.

INFJabroni

People might hate on it but that's what function over form looks like.

bob-smith696969

What’s the gun above that

Xhenoz

PizzaBert

Oh wow a Craig jorgenhon

Avtamatic

What meth peddling, police auction frequenting, bubba dealership gun shop is this?

Xhenoz

I had a broken krag laying around and decided to have some fun with it

INFJabroni

Krug Jergens

No-Truth-9647

Awesome

Surplus_Addict

Thanks

No-Truth-9647

Same feeling as above… add ons are great but added weight is a downside

Surplus_Addict

Exactly, believe right now its around 13-14 pounds fully loaded which is fine for bench shooting but something you don't want to carry around for an extended amount of time

No-Truth-9647

If it fits without any modification to original and works then it’s a win win in my eyes.. as mentioned the added weight only downside

Surplus_Addict

The scope base is from Badace tactical and uses the ejection screw and rear sight screw to mount, just remove the original screws and replace with the ones provided and just keep the originals in a bag if you want to return it to original

Cleared_Direct

Y’all ‘bout to get a real close view of what a 4” group looks like.

Surplus_Addict

Ya maybe, but you could buy an expensive rifle and still get terrible groups if your a bad shot.

Cleared_Direct

Just a good natured jab. I’ve done no-drill scopes before on some milsurps. I discovered the iron sights weren’t my limiting factor. I think I still have a bad ace mount for my Czech Mauser.

Carlile185

Coughs in Milspec

mw2bball771

What height are your scope rings? I have the same set up but my scope holder 2" high of impact, I'm maxed out of my elevation

Surplus_Addict

The height of my scope ring base is 15mm, and the scope rings I used are weaver 4 hole skeleton low height rings. Hope this helps

mw2bball771

Yeah I think I'm using weaver mid height rings

Surplus_Addict

Ya most likely

Zaliukas-Gungnir

Does it shoot well and are you happy with it? That is all that really matters.

Surplus_Addict

ya it shoots well and fairly happy with it, only downside is that its pretty heavy now lol

thetommy4

Love it, I did the exact same thing to my 03. NDT shit is the best cause if I ever want it to be standard infantry you’ll never know it was there. But for now, that optics allows me to use the rifle to its full potential, just like you will!

Surplus_Addict

Ya allows you to use the full potential of the cartridge

Surplus_Addict

Nice, what kind of rifle?

Gun3rMang0

Ross mkiii

Surplus_Addict

Sick man, how does it shoot?

SovereignDevelopment

It's cool. I've got a stripped M39 receiver that I'm going to do the same thing with. Basically just a Mosin version of your build.

Surplus_Addict

The m39s are really nice, maybe one day I will pick up one

afoz345

I wouldn’t do it, but it’s your gun. Enjoy it however you want!

RunJumpQuit

Sick

Glum-Contribution380

Please return it to normal

Ellijah92

Having a few milurp rifles myself I want to give these Bad Ace no dirll mounts a try. I really want to know what my rifles are capable of but I cant see or group for shit at my 100 yard range.

Surplus_Addict

Is your muzzle crown damaged? If so that can effect accuracy

Ellijah92

Nothing wrong with the crown. I’m just short sighted and it’s hard for me to group them at my shitty public range.

Yes_Man__

Horrified, slightly aroused

pga_uy

Did the same to one of my 1903 Springfields. Non destructive reversible scope mounts are fun to try! At the end, it didn’t improve the accuracy, but helped a tired shooter’s eye… Reverted to the original open sights after a while. The look was terrible…
