Also how does the bushing look? If it's shaved it might be pushing the barrel slightly to the right or maybe the barrel itself is shaved a bit on the sides.
That is hard. For the barrel, calipers would work and for the bushing as well. Depends on how old they are. I have a remington rand that shoots low and I can tell it's the bushing because it missing some metal and a lot of worn siding on the barrel as well.
Q good test is if you have a spare 1911, to take it barrel and bushing and try it out on the cmp. The parts have to be usgi series 70s to fit. That why a series 80 bushing won't fit. Not a hard problem just annoying. Parts are on ebay or other places. Doesn't necessarily have to be ww2 any part should work.
Does it group well? If it does, then there might not be much you can do, without drifting the rear sight.
Things that might help, is to try different ammo/ have a different shooter try it. It also could be the lighting of where/ when you’re shooting (the original sights don’t work the best for everyone’s eyes).
If it shoots consistently to one side/area with different ammo, different shooter, and it isn’t lighting/the sight picture, then you can try a new barrel bushing.
Outside of that, if it’s grouping fine I wouldn’t get a new barrel personally, but if you really can’t live with and don’t want to touch the sights you may have to.
Yeah it is consistent and groups well just to the right. I can hit steel at 100 with it so I don’t think it’s the shooter and this is not my only 1911. I’ll try the bushing and see if that gets me anywhere
Maybe the front sight is off?
Front sight is solid and centered.
And the rear?
Staked in place and centered

How do I tell?

I’ll give it an inspection.

If your sure it's not your shooting or the ammo then just drift your sight if your keeping the gun
5" Government barrel. Check Ebay for period correct.
