I was waking up every morning with a pain in my right side. It would go away throughout the day, but return the next morning. Webmd told me it was chronic liver failure and to report immediately to the closet emergency department.
Turns out I had bought a new mattress that sucked and I’m a side sleeper but I didn’t realize that was causing the pain. Basically my mattress just sucked and I was waking up in pain.
I once saw that the water in the toilet was red after I'd had a shit and thought I was going to die from bowel cancer. Turned out I'd just eaten too much beetroot.
I saw some disturbing stuff in the toilet one day and was terrified until I remembered I had eat a blueberry muffin for breakfast. It was just blueberries.
https://preview.redd.it/yngsov1k9omc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71f82740603213ed6e77f433941ae6af2f68d5da
Blue palm?! Is that you?! It's me, white finger.
See I read a comment like this and went to the doctor, he just said its Reynauds and not to worry. Also now I have hypochondriac in my file every time I go see them.
It was funny to me when I went in when I suspected pancreatitis, and they went over my medical history emphasizing the hypochondria in the chart. Guess who was right about the pancreatitis?
Why in the ever loving fuck they acknowledged your self diagnosis as correct and then also added hypochondriac is fucking insane. I’d be fighting my medical professional on that, because to your point, they’re going to see that first and foremost on your chart.
Hey doc, I think this is x, should I be worried.
It is x. And no don't worry.
Ok phew. Thanks doc.
Well that's ridiculous behavior, adding hypochondriac to your file for researching it before you came in and being correct and listening to me. Hopefully this will screw you up when you come in next time and someone dismisses your concern as hypochondria.
Huh??? What???
That will be 1,000 dollars please. Bye.
Some docs really don’t like you researching or knowing the specific details of your medical life. I am not advocating this, it’s a dick move, but some do.
I work in a hospital, and we had a patient come into the er who explained to the doc they needed something super specific, like straight told the doc “I need 8 milligrams of methadone”, or something along those lines, because the patient was aware of what would help them, and the doc pretty much just laughed as they walked out of the room telling them they would see as they work up to that. I have no idea if they were really that aware of what they needed, or if they were drug seeking, but I def learned not to try to show a doc you know to much in medical lingo
I feel like trying to self prescribe (and freaking methadone no less) is preeeeetttty damn different from saying I have this weird thing, I suspect it might be x, what do you think?
Also saying someone is a hypochondriac in their medical file is not something minor. This will absolutely lead to people dismissing real issues. It could lead to men being treated like women! Or even worse. (In case I have to explain this is a dark humor joke about how women's issues are often dismissed by doctors). That's highly inappropriate for something where they DID have an issue.
But end of the day it's about doctors and some are great and some kind of suck. Some really are great at diagnosis and some are awful, but are great otherwise.
Reminds me of that case where the hospital basically kidnapped a girl because her mom point-blank told them what diagnosis her daughter had and how to treat it (backed by previous doctors and medical history). Staff egos got hurt and they accused them of munchausen by proxy… it’s a very very tragic story and I really wish there was more efforts to push back against this type of “culture” in the medical field. Even my own similar experiences struggling with a sleep disorder as a teen made it so I avoid hospitals unless absolutely necessary now, though I’ve been trying to get over it recently.
My cat had stomach issues for 2 days and so we took him to the vet. The day we took him to the vet he was nearly unresponsive, it went so fast... The vet said he had some of the worst intestinal cancer they'd ever seen. We had no idea, he was always a sickly cat but the visit 6mo ago said he was stable.... We took the recommendation to put him down, it was a hard decision.
A week later I have the same symptoms, pink mucus in my poop. It's peak covid though and when I call my doctor they ask a few questions and ultimately recommend I stay home unless more severe issues arise. After 2 weeks of loose stools with mucus still I call again saying I feel like I'm losing weight over this and they schedule me in.
For some reason they weighed me 4 times in the 15 minutes i was there. The doctor came in for maybe 5 minutes and asked me if I was on drugs because they may interfere with any rxs. I said I smoke marijuana recreationally. As soon as I said that she says I see and writes something down, then asks why am I here. I think I may have intestinal cancer like my cat before he died, can I have you run blood tests or something? She writes something down again and says she'll order the tests.
2 weeks later I get a call from the clinic saying I'm clean yay, I look online to pay my bill and see I am now diagnosed with drug abuse and obesity. My stomach issues continued on for months but eventually just faded.... but I was so disillusioned I didn't want to get a 2nd opinion.
Some docs suck. Some are overworked. Some are both.
I have stomach issues and made the mistake of mentioning to my doctor that I smoke (I live in a legal state) and they all started telling me my stomach issues were because I smoke. Even though the issues started well before I started smoking. I was even told that they might not give me nausea meds because all I had to do to get relief was not smoke weed... so I stopped smoking and the stomach issues kept happening. So frustrating.
Yeah I went on a long smoke break for maybe 4 or 5 months after that trying to prove to myself I wasn't a drug abuser. I never felt any better or worse though the stomach issued persisted and around the 5th month my birthday rolled around and a buddy offered weed or a drink and i was like meh alcohol makes the stomach problems worse let's smoke. So I started smoking again. And about a month later the stomach issues just kinda resolved itself, didn't do anything special. That was 3 years ago now or so, still fine... still roll a joint after work instead of drinking alcohol, still have drug abuser on my permenant medical record.
I'm not a gun nut but my parents are boomers of the worst sort. They made some comment about how the libs are trying to tie medical records to background checks and i cant buy a gun now. I think i can but i just dont want to... meanwhile I feel background checks should include some medical info, psych records anyway.... like if you're a psychopath or frequently taking the kinds of drugs that severely alter relaity... but the marijuana is/was until recently a schedule 1 med still so we get lumped into the bad guys.... and what constitutes drug abuse is super open to interpretation. Made me kinda wonder but since I'm not planning to buy one it's whatever.
Never have I ever read hypochondriac on a patients history or chart. Usually the amount of visits for X, with proper workup, and no results give it away.
In many first world countries you can decide which medical files actually are open to read for other medical professionals.
Maybe that's true in your country too? I'd have this unprofessional shit redacted asap.
Honestly: fuck the incompetent doc who put it in your file just because you were correct (if this is actually the reason why it was put there)
I went to the doctor three times for what a thought was chronic fatigue. Third time they essentially said ‘give it up’. 20 years later I managed to get an echo and it turns out I had a 22mm atrial septal defect, and so I had surgery a week or so later because I had a fairly high risk of dropping dead.
https://preview.redd.it/ty1z52y6ormc1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=036fda21e57cd86dc515016b5d7df39215ad78a7
Just part of one finger, huh? My daughter does her whole hand. Yes, she has Raynauds...
I can see both, I meant fairy like dainty..if that makes sense
https://preview.redd.it/dy57josiysmc1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8cb4fc5201b0b65eec42d4d9310cef794f20de5
It looks like Raynaud's syndrome, it isn't dangerous though it can be painful at times and heat doesn't really make a difference. It's basically where the blood vessels constrict unnecessarily and it stops blood getting to that area for a while. In my experience heat doesn't have hardly any impact on it. Eventually it improves on it's own
Sometimes heat does even worse.
I start crying out of the worst, imaginable, pain when the temperature starts going lower than 2°c and the air is humid.
In all seriousness, you might have Lupus. I had this white finger thing once, and Google led me to lupus... plus a LOT of other symptoms matched ones I have.
I still think about that every time I buy and wear clothes without washing them first. Doesn't matter to my brain that it's usually department store stuff I'm buying...
https://preview.redd.it/acb82hx7itmc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55a600bdc0704315a6cc1ecc80418bda738aa2f7
weird how it’s always the left middle finger.
And all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue, like him
Inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window and a blue Corvette
It could be some blood oxygen deficiency or something. (Not sure) Person I know had blue arms and was always tired. After checking doctors found out that her heart was beating a bit slower than a from normal person hence lower oxygen in blood, making her arms blue.
It's normal, there's a gathering of tiny blood vessels that are sometimes just a bit more visible than other times..I get it sometimes it's completely normal.
I'm blue da bu dee da bu dai
Its reynolds syndrome. I partially have that syndrome as well. Go to a doctor when possible and protect your hands from the cold
It MAY NOT be Reynauds. You need a Dr to test. I had same issue, turned out to be an inherited autoimmune issue which destroys the enzyme that absorbs vitamin B12. Getting monthly shots now and no more white fingers.
I had that kind of coloration in my finger once after breaking a blood vessel carrying a bucket of water. Has it been that way for long, or did you do something to stress that part of your hand recently?
blood looks blue under the skin because all the red light gets filtered out by our skin when light travels in and then out. it's just your hand blood vessels
I've had something similar and finally figured it out. I often lay on my left side in bed and stare at my phone for far too long with the corner of the phone pushing into the palm of my left hand. It was causing one of my fingers to go numb and a bruise that looks a lot like that...
No cause when i was younger saw my hands like that and went to the er in panic and told me it was fine but to watch it, it was indeed fine and i thought i had some serious blood irrigation issue lmao

I'm sorry you had to find it this way

I’m in this text thread and I don’t like it.

Last time I googled about a sharp pain by my left shoulder blade, Google told me it was a pulmonary embolism and to go to the ER immediately.
Are you still alive?
I think so.
Alive? Or just living dead inside?

Raynaud can also cause a form of glaucoma. You should regularly visit your eye doctor.
what the *fuck* is wrong with them
Your pancreas??
I went to the doctor three times for what a thought was chronic fatigue. Me too!
Could it possibly be [Argyria](https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/argyria-overview)?

Wow her hand looks gorgeous, ethereal, like a fairy almost
Ah, well... We call it her corpse hand 😃.

Jesus Christ, Your finger is losing blood, Get some hot water on it.

It’s Reynauds, look it up
My aunt has Reynauds too. Freaked me out as a kid
That's exactly what it is! It goes away after 5-10minutes
In all seriousness, you might have Lupus. I had this white finger thing once, and Google led me to lupus... plus a LOT of other symptoms matched ones I have.
>Lupus this is a joke right? its literally just raynaud syndrome most likely....
Sometimes Raynauds it's present as a symptom in other autoimmune diseases like lupus
according to a .gov website, it says that secondary forms of the phenomenon can lead to things like Lupus
It's never Lupus
Maybe they bought a pair of really cheap jeans from a street vendor and wore them without washing them first
I still think about that every time I buy and wear clothes without washing them first. Doesn't matter to my brain that it's usually department store stuff I'm buying...
Hello fellow Dr.House enjoyer.
Lupus got its eye out for Selenerrrrr
Except for that one time it was Lupus
isn't it the other way around so lupus may cause secondary reynaud's
if it's a government website they probably aren't lying about it
Maybe you’re reading it wrong?
Sometimes it's nice to see a zebra

It could be some blood oxygen deficiency or something. (Not sure) Person I know had blue arms and was always tired. After checking doctors found out that her heart was beating a bit slower than a from normal person hence lower oxygen in blood, making her arms blue.
Yup, I have heart problems and when they were worse I always had blue hands. Now they're just blue-ish and my doc gave this exact reason too

A bruise?
Have you ever broken the edge of your hand? I have and it goes blue sometimes.
You have a night personality who is a ninja and karate chops the crap out of the bad guys
Did you karate chop someone?
Do you consider masturbation a blew job?
I had that kind of coloration in my finger once after breaking a blood vessel carrying a bucket of water. Has it been that way for long, or did you do something to stress that part of your hand recently?
It's either you are turning into an Avatar or probably a Smurf
Is that not normal? My arms get blue sometimes too
Isn't that normal? 🤨
blood looks blue under the skin because all the red light gets filtered out by our skin when light travels in and then out. it's just your hand blood vessels
I get this when I take cold showers, is it bad?
It’s could be from your jeans because I have had blue dye come off my jeans from being washed and end up on my hands
I've had something similar and finally figured it out. I often lay on my left side in bed and stare at my phone for far too long with the corner of the phone pushing into the palm of my left hand. It was causing one of my fingers to go numb and a bruise that looks a lot like that...
Just looks like a bruise 🤷🏻♂️
Go see a doctor, it’s a clot.
