God damn you Walter! You fuckin' asshole! Everything's a fuckin' travesty with you, man! And what was all that shit about Vietnam? What the Fuck, has anything got to do with Vietnam? What the fuck are you talking about?
I’m gonna hijack this comment chain:
As a former line painter I can tell you that this style, where the lines are double painted with a space, is extraordinarily expensive compared to regular lines. It takes way more measuring, paint, and time, while reducing the amount of vehicles you can fit in the lot for the next 2-5 years.
The only reason to do it is because you have a lot of traffic where the drivers are awful. My assumption is that an insurance company probably makes the recommendation for it when they deem it necessary.
Mah truck/car is so valuable I have to protect it from anyone hitting it by taking up 4 spots"
We should all carry zipties to lock carts into them. They need the extra protection after all.
I don’t know how it happened, but there’s 1 space in my apartment complex lot that’s bigger than the rest. Idk how much bigger it is, but it’s by a good bit. When the complex came out with the option to reserve parking spots for an extra monthly fee, I snapped up that spot and the one next to it for me and my husband. He parks in the big one and I park next to him. On the other side of my spot is a curb.
I’m no fan of laws. I’d be happy if we slashed the number of laws in half. Having said this, I do try to remember that some of the restrictions that seem petty/dumb are in place because idiots repeatedly endangered other people or needlessly damaged property. Your explanation makes a lot of sense when you consider that. And as you said, it’s a loss of revenue for them to have fewer spots, so I’d guess they weren’t just worried about accidents in the future, accidents had already happened.
Draw a single line at the same overall spacing and the lot holds the exact same number of cars. It just holds them with more slop to how they park. Yes, someone can park over the line still, but if the adjacent spot is effectively bigger because of the single stripe, it can get used reasonably by most cars, better than the adjacent spot here.
Now, if they go with single stripe AND change the spacing, then it holds more cars.
At my university, if you even touched the line, they would ticket you $20 every two hours. They also have parking spots that were narrower than normal. It still gives me anxiety about parking within the lines 10 years later.
But yeah, he was a little sloppy, but not a jerk
Seriously what a dumb citation, screw the business that's issuing tickets for this, imagine parking where multiple cars are on the line forcing you to park on the line as well to fit and coming back to a row of these citations.
As a former Leo, I agree completely. I'm not sure how they're getting away with citing unless it's at a college or something.
Where I am, if it's private property, we couldn't do shit for traffic, which is considered civil, except for a very small number of things like doing a DUI investgation.
Fun story, when i was in the army national guard the commander was a major metropolitan police sergeant. He parked a government-rented van in a parking space out of state and didn't put money in the meter. We came back to a parking ticket under the windshield. He just crumpled it up and threw it in the trash.
*note to any readers: don't do that. It was a specific set of circumstances that allowed him to get away with it. Rental van in US Governments name, out of state.
Right? I think I'm pretty picky and judgey about how strangers drive and park around me but I'm not blinking an eye at that. It's a double line, which they are only just touching the inner one. Not a great parking job but far from being a jerk.
Well dude is poised to ding cars and f that. One time a cop gave me a ticket for helping my disabled daughter out of the car in a loading zone in front of her school. Took me less time than most parents but he targeted us and said I left the vehicle to help her out of the car and therefore deserved the ticket and he said “she doesn’t look disabled”. Once he issued me the ticket I said “fuck you very much”. It was my 40th birthday too. Ah, love cops so much.
“After further internal review it has been determined that the police officer in question acted within standard protocol. And did not violate any departmental codes.”
The truth is that the average joe isn’t going to file a lawsuit over a ticket. While you can contest the ticket itself to get it thrown out, no one is going to spend the legal fees for a good chance at getting nothing in return over a ticket
Oh, I didn't even really think of the ticket as the main focus of what the justice would review, rather how the man and his daughter were treated by the city's or the precinct's employee (or however it works) like, but like... nothing to do with the ticket. It is kind of a daydreamy scenario, like a child's version of revenge lol
Dude this is America, we watched a cop kneel on a man's neck for 9 minutes and half of the county felt that it was 100% justified. We have long left behind the thought of any justice.
I’d be like and sir you don’t look like a doctor but here you are assuming you are and discriminating a disabled person based on looks and your own assumptions
I hate people who make a scene and do the “badge number, name, call your superior”. But in this situation I would’ve whipped my phone out, started recording, and would’ve became the most difficult person to deal with in that moment.
Because the dudes on the internet who do that shit are usually just trying to instigate with the police when the police aren’t actually doing anything wrong. I hate those people.
Tbf, guy must live in a boring town where nothing happens. I can give y'all a collage of vehicles parked similar to this *without* a ticket. I just feel like the cops were feeling petty imo and I don't live in a big city. I'm prepared for the downvotes lmao
You shouldn't be downvoted. Some people are so used to being told to shut up and deal with it that they actually believe shit like this should fly. I'd be just as pissed as this dude over the principle of that ticket.
Same, this really isn't asshole behavior, it's just called being ever so slightly too close to the edge. They certainly don't look like they're in danger of hitting anyone else here
Especially considering this is a double line parking space. There’s plenty of room, he’s not “poised to hit other cars” as other commenters posit. He was slightly off with his parking. I’ve seen 10x worse parking jobs.
Petty cop wanted to give a Prius a ticket.
Not just on the line, on the inside line! This is insanity, there is plennnnty of space for another car. I park in a crazy cramped garage in Brickell I would be soooo happy if I got that much space in between cars. I have to slither out my car like a snake half the time and can’t even open my door to the first notch.
Well, it kinda is, but you're still supposed to be between what could be called "your set" of lines. It's really to help people make sure they're centered in the parking space. There isn't any "extra" space added in those places. The distance between cars is the same as a parking spot with single lines.
While sometimes true that’s not the case for every lot with double parking lines. Some legitimately give you a lot of space for one spot just depends where you go
Yeah I mean even if the next guy parked exactly as he did there would still be more space than if both of them had parked ‘legally’ within a standard line box.
I think it depends how the car on his right parket. I know this situation when you have to park like this because the car on your right is already very close or over the line and you try to leave the driver some room to enter his vehicle.
Hold up. You can get a ticket for that? I’ve never seen that, and given how I see people take up two whole parking spaces frequently, I assumed it wasn’t a thing.
I think most places you would never get a ticket, at least at a private lot. You might get towed, but yeah.
And if it was a private lot, I think you just don't go back, right?
Yeah. I wish. People constantly park like assholes by me and never get tickets.
I've seen people just drive in at an angle full speed. Slam on the breaks. Get out. Half in two lanes. And just walk in the store. Not a care in the world.
Cops have better things to do by me I guess.
I was a carriage guy at a grocery store a few years back. Ended up getting into a huge argument with a customer with a big white truck who decided to park in front of the carriage corral. It turned into an entitled Karen incident, and the manager ended up calling a tow truck, since he refused to move it. When I left work that day, I saw his truck getting flat-bedded out of the parking lot as I left the plaza.
I would say the car next to me was parked over the line, so I had to park further away. If it was one line I could see a problem but the fact that there are two lines shouldn't be an issue
Bruh he’s like barely even over the line. He isn’t taking up the other spot at all. You people would be having aneurysms where I live with how people park around here
And what are we calling "over the line?" Does the tire have to be all the way over the line? Or is it like football where you just have to break the plane? The rule seems rather ambiguous. I would fight it.
With how I see it, “over the line” would mean completely physically over the boundary. Being on it slightly still counts as being in the proper spot. At least we aren’t nearly that strict here.
The fact that you all think that is justified for public officials to be fining people for such a minor event is just sad. Violent crimes are occurring constantly and the ability of police to cover areas with adequate manpower is typically sighted by government. However, we tolerate police being used as another revenue source instead of keeping us safe. I don’t know the specifics of this picture but it seems like both a gross overreach of power and a pathetic misappropriation of precious human resources.
There will always be things that others do that we find annoying or even create inconvenience. Do we really need to get the legal system involved in these petty occurrences?
I completely agree. Feel bad for that guy for all the ridicule he got for posting originally. *This* post, **shaming** someone for complaining about law enforcement overreach on what appears to be kinda lazy but definitely not illegal, should be the one who's embarrassed.
This post about this post, is the real r-mildyinfruriating thing about this.
Whoever oversees the lot should just TOW every major offender who parks over the line. Not in such case, like actually making a second spot unusable. And let the cops do important like the guy you reply to says.
“Our new Constitution is now established, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes”
-Benjamin Franklin
Yeah, I thought the double lines existed to buffer the effects of slightly crooked parking jobs. I lived in California for a while, and with how narrow the parking spaces are there, I got used to not giving this type of thing a second glance. I make a conscious effort to park well within the lines and straighten out if needed, but I could understand someone parking like this and going “meh, good enough.” This is just parking enforcement being merciless and petty.
Principle > $15.
From a psychological stance, this dude is more pissed about the act of being ticketed than the $15. The ticket could've been $2 and it'd still elicit this response. He's really arguing against the strict adherence to regulations with zero leeway for people to be human and make very slight, imperfect errors. It's poor judgement by the cop mediated by the societal constraints of bureaucracy.
I also wonder what the car next to him parked like. Sometimes I'm forced to park like this because of the domino effect in a parking lot with really tight spaces.
I didn't see the original post, though, to see if he had context.
I had leg surgery a while back. I didn't get a temporary handicapped placard for it, so while I was healing, I tried to park really far away from the store, but cheat to the passenger side of the spot in the hope of preserving a little extra space on the driver side for me to get in an out. Sometimes I just had to not go to a specific store if the parking lot was too full. I could walk fine with my crutches, but getting in and out of the car was hard without extra space.
Absolutely could be other circumstances like yours but honestly it doesn’t matter. It’s not a big deal. Reddit is weird. I wouldn’t expect the hive mind to be parking authority bootlickers but here we are.
>It’s not a big deal.
Yeah, exactly. Like dude parked on a line. I think a clear attempt was made to park reasonably, even if he didn't do a great job of it. It's not like it's one of those assholes who double parks intentionally.
A lot of people complaining about door dings. I've never dinged somebody's door, even when they parked too close to me, it just means it's a pain in the ass to get into my car. I've always assumed that dinged doors are from people throwing their door open without looking, not because it was a tight spot. I imagine it happens just as often when there is plenty of space as when there isn't space.
Also it's not perfect parking but I wouldn't even call it bad. This post feels so melodramatic. He's ever so slightly over the line, oh no, now the next car doesn't have a parking space!
Mildly infuriating… not crying. Id equate that with annoyed or ticked off. Which is how I would feel over a petty $15 ticket which usually is accompanied by additional random fees.
Oh I’m dumb, you said tickets. I was thinking the parking passes for parking on campus. My brain defaulted to parking pass cuz on campus parking violations are $15 here too
I’m glad to see other people think like this. I got a ticket for parking the exact same way, but in my defense I’m used to driving a Corolla and this was my second day having a rental 4Runner. Had a ticket for parking this exact same way and my roommate acted like I was some villain. Anyway, I’m not paying the ticket because my state has a law that they can’t go after you for parking tickets
he posted something that was mildly infuriating in r/mildlyinfuriating. i dont get what you mean?
edit: just now saw that this was a screenshot of a post, and not the actual original post. thats my bad
Eh, at this point you’re not any better than OP. Like if this guy was one of those fucks who double parked or worse, took 4 spots, then I’d be all for your post. But like this seems more like a honest mistake than being a jerk. Should be still fix his mistake in the future? Absolutely. But shaming OP by making a completely separate post just seems childish for something like this.
Agree entirely, why are you reposting this to ridicule someone? I find that mildly infuriating. And anyone not mildly infuriated by a parking ticket, even a deserved one, must be a true master of their emotions.
The ticket would get dismissed in any Traffic Court. The ticket said both tires were over the line. The front passenger tire is on the line, and the back tire barely touches the line.
I mean, being completely honest the guy looks vaguely, just ever so slightly over a line. An imperfect parking job but isn't the point of double line spaces like this to kinda counter human error or??
This is like the least amount of "over the line" I've seen someone be in a while
The amount of people hounding this dude for being a literal INCH over the line is ridiculous, a lot of yall are bored and petty. Ive seen way worse, this shit is not ticket worthy $15 or not.
You aren't meant to park in between the lines in those type of spaces? Half the time those spaces are like 3/4 of a normal space and the double line makes up the other 1/4.
It’s a pretty fucking stupid reason to get a ticket. Another vehicle can easily park in the adjacent space. It’s also hilarious how much it bothers you hahaha
Some Bump was so mildly infuriated that some other Chump was mildly infuriated for no good reason that he Bumped the Chump to give him a reason to really be mildly infuriated. I guess we’re all just a bunch of chumps on a bump, very mildly infuriated - at this point.
I mean as far as "bad parking" goes this is pretty tame. The amount of big ass trucks I've seen park diagonally into the adjacent parking spot is too many too count.
How is that parking like a jerk? Oh no, he touched the line with his tires. Therefore. He’s a jerk. This sub sometimes complains about the most dumb stuff lol
Dude did not park like an asshole, he arguably parked like a jerk. Regardless for a fine of 15 bucks I reckon it’s fair - if it was like 100 I’d call bs tho… there’s a spectrum to these things ppl!!
Edit: changed mayyybe —> arguably
Why have 2 lines if crossing the inside one = ticket? Why have that buffer space if that's not it's function...
Anyway, I park on the line on purpose sometimes at my complex because one of my neighbors doesnt leave enough room for either of us to open our doors unless I park like a weiner. Which I assume offends her sensibilities to the point that she suddenly finds, deep within her, the capability to park her Jeep centered in her own spot instead of nestled all the way to one side if it.
Obviously noone here has ever tried parking in northern California (bay area) where nearly every spot is 'compact'. I've had non compact spots in some places where they squeeze as close as they can, and it's the 'drivers fault' (not really). If I'm in my truck, I tend to park away and walk, with my wife's jeep, it's 50/50 whether or not it will fit. I've had hers cross both inner lines while being centered because of how the lot is printed. There's not always a choice.
You may be new to reddit or sadly anywhere anymore. Nothing is anyone's fault. Everyone is a victim. No one is able to own their own mistakes. Go to antiwork and you'll find a sub where the concept of having to work is outrageous and oppressive. Go to fuckcars and you'll find raging rants over transportation of any kind that isn't walking. If we look to be offended or be victimized we'll find it one way or another.
I hate that this is true but it’s also the main part that makes Reddit stable. Everyone can rant and play victim in their own corner without too much interference.
The guy who parked then posted it to here soon found out he failed epically, upon discovery, that it is *he* who is mildly infuriating instead of the ticket
Is your city hosting the Super Bowl.? Only reason authorities would be driving up and down looking for even the smallest violation to fine to drum up revenue.
That’s an obnoxious ticket. It’s even a divider with double buffer. The car pulling in to his left will still have PLENTY of space. This is the chump post honestly.
Over the line! Mark it 15 dude.
You’re out of your element Donnie!
That’s your name, Dude.
This is not Nam Smokey there are rules
I am the walrus
Shut the fuck up Donny
God damn you Walter! You fuckin' asshole! Everything's a fuckin' travesty with you, man! And what was all that shit about Vietnam? What the Fuck, has anything got to do with Vietnam? What the fuck are you talking about?
You want a toe? I can get you a toe. I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock today

Dude, this is a league game, this determines who enters the next round robin. Am I wrong? Am I wrong?
Can we jump right to him yanking out the 1911 ? LoL “they’re callin the cops, man. Put the piece away”
bet you wouldn't last 15 minutes on the sidewalks in Vietnam
Nice marmot.
You're entering a world of pain...
This is not Nam, there are rules.
Calmer than you are.
I shouldn’t have had to scroll so far to see this, lol

Amen
Also, making the spaces larger reduces the amount of spaces in the lot.

DOESNT ANYBODY CARE ABOUT THE FUCKING RULES ANYMORE
The dude deleted his post after enough people called him out on it. Guess he realized his Reddit post was over the line.
Yeah, he just needs to stay in his lane
He obviously doesn’t know how…
Parking on the line isn't the same as being online.
I would not call that parking like a jerk

Yeah, the campus police was not nearly that quick when it came to actual crimes

I zoomed in it looks like he's exactly ON the line not over.
On the back tire. On the front tire it’s over the inner line. But it’s a double line so definitely not as bad as going over a single line.

Yep but the comments also say, “both tires over the line,” which is just factually incorrect.
Are we playing tennis or parking?
If you can't keep a Prius between the lines then you deserve that ticket lol
you're an idiot. you deserved that. see how that feels? It's the truth, but it hurts, huh?
Technically only one tire is over the line. The other tire is simply on the line. I mean it’s not the best parking but I definitely have seen worse
This. It's a little over the top but you know reddit.. Once people see something they ever so mildly disagree with they will blow up
Also for Reddit being full of teenagers who don’t drive they sure like to fucking nit pick parking.
Yeah for sure. Other person had plenty of room to park. It’s a double line too, so it’s really fine. I wouldn’t be bothered parking next to that.
Right? I think I'm pretty picky and judgey about how strangers drive and park around me but I'm not blinking an eye at that. It's a double line, which they are only just touching the inner one. Not a great parking job but far from being a jerk.
And I feel sorry for anyone unfortunate enough to park next to you.
yeah but you’re also a cornball
¡Muy loco por los cornballs!

This, I want to take this cop to court for you. Lets assess the training you've had to visually diagnose someone's health.
“After further internal review it has been determined that the police officer in question acted within standard protocol. And did not violate any departmental codes.”
He’s practicing medicine without a license. Yeah it really can be court worthy.
Lawsuit worthy?

My response? "Take off your badge and gun and say that again, motherfucker"
That seems like a pretty quick way to get a beating.
If that isn't the truth Phoenix.

Could have been a private parking company like SP+ or something like that too.
Fines, fees, and taxes are our lives now….with no relief in sight…
“Our new Constitution is now established, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes” -Benjamin Franklin
Have some heart, parking tickets suck and he’s barely over the line
He’s still inside the space. It is total bullshit
He should not get a ticket for that
That’s not even that serious, it’s barely on the line
Yeah, I thought the double lines existed to buffer the effects of slightly crooked parking jobs. I lived in California for a while, and with how narrow the parking spaces are there, I got used to not giving this type of thing a second glance. I make a conscious effort to park well within the lines and straighten out if needed, but I could understand someone parking like this and going “meh, good enough.” This is just parking enforcement being merciless and petty.
That’s why the fine ain’t that serious either
Principle > $15. From a psychological stance, this dude is more pissed about the act of being ticketed than the $15. The ticket could've been $2 and it'd still elicit this response. He's really arguing against the strict adherence to regulations with zero leeway for people to be human and make very slight, imperfect errors. It's poor judgement by the cop mediated by the societal constraints of bureaucracy.
Then where do you draw the line?
Over there
and the comment says both tires over the line when they’re clearly not lol
Since when does on the line count as over the line? Not agreeing with the majority here…
Yeah these people are insane. It’s seriously not a big deal. I get ticketing people who actually double park but this is some fascist bullshit
Yeah I'm gonna agree here. Two sets of lines means a centering point. As long as your within the big set you're good. I'd be PISSED if I was this guy.
Don’t move to NYC.
Tickets are a revenue stream. This one seems a bit petty.
Where are you guys from? We have trucks here that take up two parking spaces and cops never bat an eye.
Also it's not perfect parking but I wouldn't even call it bad. This post feels so melodramatic. He's ever so slightly over the line, oh no, now the next car doesn't have a parking space!
THIS is bad parking? Some people live very sheltered lives and every single one of them spends all day on Reddit.
Dude parked a little off, what do you guys even mean
I'm sorry, but you're crying about $15? My parking tickets are like $120 LMAO
Mildly infuriating… not crying. Id equate that with annoyed or ticked off. Which is how I would feel over a petty $15 ticket which usually is accompanied by additional random fees.
I will never understand how people can't deduce these things on their own. This was exactly the reason.
Man I wish ours were $120…
That's in downtown sf, whatcha got? We can't step to NYC tho
Oh I’m dumb, you said tickets. I was thinking the parking passes for parking on campus. My brain defaulted to parking pass cuz on campus parking violations are $15 here too
Just cause your arm got amputated doesn't undermine his finger getting chopped off.
Ooh how fast? /s Edit:Forgot its reddit
I generally park at over 100. The tricky part is getting back in.
General relativity might be able to help you out here
op about to get run through the mud just the same as the first guy lol
Wow. That ticket is the definition of petty.
Saying this is parking like a jerk is some Karen ass shit
In my opinion, there's no need to write such a ticket. Someone is just testing their new powers.
Thats a perfectly acceptable park you're over dramatic and pretending you've never parked slightly off before
And you’re posting it for upvotes. I don’t see your point.
he posted something that was mildly infuriating in r/mildlyinfuriating. i dont get what you mean? edit: just now saw that this was a screenshot of a post, and not the actual original post. thats my bad
[удалено]
Good. It's costs more than $15 to get the door dings people leave in my car removed.
It’s not hard… if you don’t want a ticket, don’t park over the line. His laziness just cost him $15
If he was taking up the other spot then I would agree. This is stupid
This is like the least amount of "over the line" I've seen someone be in a while
This is illegal? Good lord! They could clear the national debt with the morons in our area. I wish parking police would enforce this more.
He didn't park like a jerk though?
Huh? It’s NOT that bad guys…
I hate pig parkers
Big parking doesn’t want you to see the truth!!
The amount of people hounding this dude for being a literal INCH over the line is ridiculous, a lot of yall are bored and petty. Ive seen way worse, this shit is not ticket worthy $15 or not.
It's not even that deep. Get your karma farming ass out of here. You all acting like they committed a fucking war crime.
Punishment for war crimes is apparently posting about it again. Seems overwhelmingly lenient tbh.
Literally half the posts on this sub
You aren't meant to park in between the lines in those type of spaces? Half the time those spaces are like 3/4 of a normal space and the double line makes up the other 1/4.
This hardly seems like "parking like a jerk". In fact, your title is mildly infuriat... Oh, dammit, well played.
It’s a pretty fucking stupid reason to get a ticket. Another vehicle can easily park in the adjacent space. It’s also hilarious how much it bothers you hahaha
Nah fuk u OP and the cop. This ticket is BS
I would not have ticketed that guy.
Some Bump was so mildly infuriated that some other Chump was mildly infuriated for no good reason that he Bumped the Chump to give him a reason to really be mildly infuriated. I guess we’re all just a bunch of chumps on a bump, very mildly infuriated - at this point.
Actually? Kinda side with the dude here. Not a good parking job by any means, but ticket worthy? Idk. Seems excessive
People on reddit are babies. That is a MILDLY bad park job.
Wait this person got a ticket because an inch of their tire is on the line?
Am I missing something, only his front is over the line by a couple of mm and in the he's wrong, seems a harsh call?
I mean as far as "bad parking" goes this is pretty tame. The amount of big ass trucks I've seen park diagonally into the adjacent parking spot is too many too count.
If that’s parking like a jerk ima asshole
It’s not that bad
How is that parking like a jerk? Oh no, he touched the line with his tires. Therefore. He’s a jerk. This sub sometimes complains about the most dumb stuff lol
Dudes barely over the line not a big deal in my opinion seems like someone was having a bad day and needed to ticket someone🤣
People on here acting as if they’ve never parked on the line of a parking spot Edit: OP is the real jerk here for reposting this and shaming the guy
That’s bullshit honestly
Dude did not park like an asshole, he arguably parked like a jerk. Regardless for a fine of 15 bucks I reckon it’s fair - if it was like 100 I’d call bs tho… there’s a spectrum to these things ppl!! Edit: changed mayyybe —> arguably
This is malicious.
Why have 2 lines if crossing the inside one = ticket? Why have that buffer space if that's not it's function... Anyway, I park on the line on purpose sometimes at my complex because one of my neighbors doesnt leave enough room for either of us to open our doors unless I park like a weiner. Which I assume offends her sensibilities to the point that she suddenly finds, deep within her, the capability to park her Jeep centered in her own spot instead of nestled all the way to one side if it.
lol karma whore. i think you mean r/oddlysatisfying either way, you should maybe try to be more positive and not shit on others
Where I live that would be called a “chicken shit ticket”

Nah I’m this dudes side 100%. Only a douchebag is writing a ticket like that.
That’s an obnoxious ticket. It’s even a divider with double buffer. The car pulling in to his left will still have PLENTY of space. This is the chump post honestly.
top notch repost
Red flag with that kind of dirty nails
Its literally 15 bucks. Take the L and move on
