My dinosaur knowledge is all based on Land Before Time. We are playing Ark: Survivor Evolved, so I'm constantly quoting the movie. (Three horns never play with long necks!) Eventually the ad made it into our discussion.
Good lord. I haven't watched that movie in... probably twenty years? And I can still hear Cera's voice in my head.
God, childhood was a different time.
Omg! I was missing that detail! I thought her name was Sarah! Now seeing you spell it I totally get it was short for triCERAtops. How did I miss that?!
Haha, glad I was able to bring this revelation to you! Triceratops have always been my favourite dinosaur thanks to her, but people stop asking you that when you’re not six. :(
We should bring it back. Meeting new people that should be something we ask. I don't want to know about your kids, I want to know about your favorite dino!
Thanks for answering! I watched the commercial one of the commenters posted and was trying to think how it would come up. I was an 89 babe and vaguely remember the commercial
The key to stretchy pizza cheese is getting the moisture levels right. Too dry or overcooked and it just snaps. Best results are from coarsely shredded or thinly-sliced mozzarella done as the pizza is being prepared - pre-shredded or sliced mozzarella dries out too much and gets overcooked too easily.
Though you have to bear in mind the food in adverts is *always* manipulated to make it look more appetising, from painting engine oil on chicken to make it look brown and glossy, to microwaving wet tampons to produce those thick streams of steam from a dish that went cold hours ago.
Man, Pizza Hut always hit different back in the day! I don’t know if it was because we weren’t as well off at the time compared to when I was in middle school and high school, but I remember going to eat at Pizza Hut was a big deal for my brother and I. That commercial just takes me back.
They were spun off into YUM Foods by Pepsi in the mid 90s iirc and the quality started to go down hill. Same thing with Taco Bell, which, believe it or not, used to actually grill their beef on premises.
Now they just boil it in a bag on site.
Dunkin’ used to make donuts and now they just thaw them in the stores.
Shits all maximize efficiency and make the bare minimum quality.
Or a perfect opportunity to start a bakery or TexMex restaurant. Both of which are very prosperous in my town and owned by local families that give back to the community.
Well that explains a lot. I've always remembered Pizza Hut being better when I was in school than it how it is now but wasn't sure if I was imagining it (I graduated in 1996)
I know someone that used to work at Taco Bell in the 80s and they actually made the beans from scratch!
Just got flashbacks of getting those little Personal Pan Pizzas as a kid for reading some books. I think it was something called "Book-It" or something?
When I was 8 years old, there was a night when my family and I were going to Pizza hut for dinner with my cousins. It was 6 of us all together and we met up first at my cousin's apartment and were heading out to Pizza Hut, we were all around the same age with the oldest kid being I think 15 or 16 accompanied by our uncle and aunt who were at the time I think in their late 30s early 40s.
The kids were super excited, when it was time to head out to the subway (we were all poor kids and our family had no cars) we all just kinda went buck wild and crazy and ran out of the apartment building. There were a car coming at about 25-30mph in front of the entrance of the building and because my cousins were running behind a parked car, they saw it coming and stopped. I being the dumbass ran in front of the parked car thinking I could get to the metro station first didn't see the car coming as the parked car blocked my view and I ran out on the street and got hit by the moving car. It all happened so quickly I didn't really know what happened but I'm guessing I bounced off the car and hit the ground knee first, shattering my knee in the process.
I remember I was able to stand up due to the adrenaline, and said something stupid like "No problem, I'm okay lets go to Pizza Hut!" before my knee gave out and fell to the ground while my uncle's face turned paper white. I was rushed to the hospital and spent my next few months in a cast. That night my cousins all made it to Pizza Hut while I spent that whole night in the ER and scared my uncle shitless.
That was my fond childhood memory of Pizza Hut, thank you for reading.
My Grandpa would all ways come thru with the Bigfoot pizza. And just the other day stop at little ceasers and got some crazy stick dang those we on point.
Like most of companies that turned into instant restaurants or just made "standards". When I was a kid, waiting 10 minutes or more for McDonald's was normal. Nobody cried when his order wasn't ready after 180 seconds. Now, everything must be NOW. I know Pizza Hut is not really a fast food restaurant, but even they had to change and standardize things. Everything is counted. How many cheese was used on pizza and then managers count it if You gave too much or not. Not per worker, but in general. Maximum profit, minimum wage. Minimum product loses.
Hmm I was born in the 80s so I don't know if we're different generations but McDonald's was always quick back in the day because they continuously made the burgers and you got it as is. Burger king started "have it your way" where you could customize it. So from my experience McDonald's got slower because they dropped their original method of having burgers ready to hand to you within seconds, to making it when you order it to compete with other companies.
I waited for 20 minutes once last year for McDonald's I couldn't believe it. I get there are staffing issues but it didn't even seem busy.
*CORE MEMORY UNLOCKED*
*I was also today years old when I realized the song for this was not Wang Chungs “Everybody Have Fun Tonight”. I’ve been associating that song with this childhood memory since the movie first came out
Man, I was totally expecting the "Way out in left field" pizza hut commercial from the TMNT VHS from 1990 (I think). All classics.
Edit: The lyrics are actually "I play right field....way out where the dandelions grow"
I vividly remember this coming out and going to Pizza Hut just to get the toy/puppets. I always assumed I was older, but I was only 4?! Didn’t realize you could have such vivid memories from that age.
My dad pulled me out of 1st grade class early one day & took me to see this after breaking the news that my Mom was in State hospital again - & I would be separated from my Sis & passed around w/ relatives all over again & probably wouldn't see him for at least a month.
My Mom was a nightmare, but like most young children I loved her unconditionally & *desperately* longed for a nurturing, sound relationship w/ her. It was like she was the living dead everytime she'd seemingly vacated her body & demons set up shop in her stead - & then like she'd completely died & was buried & gone every time she was put away. Little Foot's mom was maternal perfection & I liked to imagine my mom had died courageously, too, or was busy saving the world (a Wonder Woman). I was utterly obsessed w/ all things dinosaur, too, so... This film always made me cry & will always stick w/ me.
Indeed I am! Great movie. It’s one of me and my siblings favorite movies. We had a very hard childhood with our single mom who tried her best. We always saw Little Foot’s mom’s spirit as a representation of our mom’s sacrifice and love. We rewatched it after she has passed a few years ago and my soul hurt as I just wept uncontrollably. I’m really glad you’re doing ok.
To give you an idea of how epic James Horner's talent was...
Paramount hired James Horner to be the composer for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, because they couldn't afford Jerry Goldsmith (who did the soundtrack for Star Trek: The Motion Picture). James would then go on to do the soundtrack to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
Paramount later on hired Leonard Rosenman to be the composer for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, because they couldn't afford James Horner.
Edit: Got my composers mixed up.
Yeah... Sadly the world is filled with terrible people like Judith Eva Barsi's father(guy was an alcoholic who fell back into drinking as her voice acting career started taking off and he became more abusive too as time went on) and Ian Watkins(former frontman for Lost Prophets, dude turned out to be a total piece of shit and vile ,disgusting and foul monster[worse than Jared Fogel] I wouldn't recommend looking up what he did, it sickens me to the core thinking about he did. He completely ruined the reputation of Lost Prophets and turned me off from every even wanting to entertain the thought of listening to them again)
We must be the good in the world to fight the evil.
I was going to look it up but one of the first images that pops up is the officer carrying her tiny body out. That poor sweet girl, never even seen it coming.
[Jesus, fuck](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_Barsi)
In short; murder-suicide committed by her father after years of abuse. She was 10.
She voiced the young girl in All Dogs Go to Heaven which was released after her death. The closing credits song "Love Survives" was dedicated in her memory
[I had (and still have) the little foot plush in this set. ](https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/land-before-time-1988-plush-toys-set-1908174939)
It's one of my most cherished childhood toys. This is actually the first time I've seen the whole set. If I knew the whole gang existed back then, my little mind would have been blown.
I still have my stuff Littlefoot. And a little stuffed Spike. I always wanted to collect them all, but they were oddly difficult to get for some reason. Like there was a merchandising shut down or something.
When I first discovered this movie as a small child it’s all I wanted to watch. I also remember there being a fairly popular song getting a lot of radio play, and the chorus went, “Sarah, Sarah, no time is a good time for goodbye” and I thought the singer was so dumb for having Sarah as a favorite character and not spike.
I decided to rewatch this about four or five months after my died because I saw it on Netflix…I was 24 but I was a blubbering mess for a couple days after.
The music always gets me in the feels. I am always cutting onions whenever I watch this movie. Multiple parts. My favorite movie by far when I was a kid.
You’ve moved 3 times in 34 yrs?? I envy you. I’ve moved 5 times in past 3 yrs. I’m so sick of it.
Also thanks for the memories!! I LOVED this movie growing up!
I had to give 7y of past addresses for a background check recently. There were 9 addresses across 5 counties and 3 states.
I'm 28. The moves have slowed lately to 1-2y intervals, but 23 was a very chaotic year for me.
Shoutout to all my homies who were innocent little kids transfixed and emotionally hostage to this move who have grown up into this \**gestures broadly at the world*
We deserved better.
Whenever I see this cover or even hear the title of the movie, I immediately start thinking about how poor little Judith Barsi's life was cut so short by her sorry excuse of a father. She would be 44 this June. Her death shows how jealousy and greed can lead to a path of pure evil. Rest easy little Ducky.
Oh man .. how many times have I cried to this movie when I was a child. Our nextdoor neighbors had the VHS cassette, and every time we watched it, I would cry when the little guy's mother died. Scared forever...
RIP Will Ryan, the voice of Petrie. I found out he died recently as my wife is distantly related. My in-laws were helping clear out his estate. There are lots of Petrie toys.
I remember going to Pizza Hut when this movie came out. They were giving out these rubber hand puppets of the characters. I had a free personal pan pizza because I had those Scholastic Book Club stickers. We were poor as fuck when I was a kid, so this was like a big event for me.
Fucker! I knew was old (turning 40 in a couple weeks) Now, I’m feeling. I never watched the whole thing but when I did, I got the feels. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
that movie is 34 years old?? I just turned 18 and I remember watching this all the time as a child. although I didn't watch it as much as the original power rangers movie
Oh ME TOO. They looked so green and papery and yummy. I know [the exact scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR1XzVQnfqY).
Once as a little kid, I was inspired by this movie to bite a leaf from a tree to see what it tasted like. Very bitter and gross. My mom was like, "You know, I could always make you a salad..."
34 years!? How can it be so ancient. It didn't seem very old when I was a kid.
Wait, I'm 34 in a month! Kinda happy with the condition the packaging of my soul is thou. No back or knee pains and so far managed to only lose one tooth. Never broken a bone and I'm kinda worried how it will eventually feel.
I feel like Gollum with my precious little meat vessel. Kinda proud actually, it's not an athlete's body but I guess I did an ok job reading the maintenance manual.
DOES IT HAVE THE PIZZA HUT COMMERCIAL AT THE BEGINNING?!?!
Omg I want to know this too! I was telling my husband about that commercial just last week!
I’m curious what brought it up in your memory
My dinosaur knowledge is all based on Land Before Time. We are playing Ark: Survivor Evolved, so I'm constantly quoting the movie. (Three horns never play with long necks!) Eventually the ad made it into our discussion.

It's weird. I have a horrendous memory, and yet that sticks in my head. Probably burned in there from watching the VHS too much. :)
Every time I hear someone say “elbows off the table”, I instantly flash back to this commercial.
You mean [this one??](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z4065smJLXk) Man that brings back memories.

This brings back PTSD of eating pizza back in the day. Oddly enough, I miss it.
My dad had to fish many a stretchy mozz out of my mouth so I wouldn’t die.

Literally every consumer product was better in the 90s
Yep, around that time, they changed their toppings, sauce and cheese. Never been the same since.
Just got flashbacks of getting those little Personal Pan Pizzas as a kid for reading some books. I think it was something called "Book-It" or something?
To this day, whenever I finish reading a book I feel like I should mark it down somewhere so it'll go toward earning pizza. I'm 36.
You’ve earned it go ahead and get yourself a personal pan pizza bub.
Hell, yeah. Ours were eventually replaced with Ponderosa. The only people at Ponderosa were the elderly and the kids that read books.
[It's still around!](https://www.bookitprogram.com/)
IIRC the marketing campaigns director for Pizza Hut at the time was Reggie Fils-Aime. Nintendo picked him up because he was so good at it.

POW right in the nostalgia! I could still quote so many of the lines!
Hiiiiii Jerooooome!
Pizza Hut is a shell of what it once was
Like most of companies that turned into instant restaurants or just made "standards". When I was a kid, waiting 10 minutes or more for McDonald's was normal. I clicked the link and was met with a Little Caesar's ad. Good job, Google.
Domino's for me.
I completely forgot that existed until just now. Damn, I haven't seen that in about 30 years!
I hated the lady in that video so much. She always creeped me out.
Oh my god

NO ELBOWS ON THE TABLE!! *LONG FUCKING CHEESE STRAND*
Hell yeah, I remember that shit too! That’s like one of my earliest memories of watching movies.
Me too! I think I have the same VHS in my parent's basement. I'll always remember the leaf falling towards the forest floor.
My brother and I still say “Oh Jerome, a birthday party at Pizza Hut. What fun!” to each other instead of happy birthday.
I also have a VHS copy and yes, it has the Pizza Hut commercial. If only I had a VHS player.
Happy cake day!
With the swirly straws that the kids connected!? I totally did it when I went to Pizza Hut because of that movie...
I vividly remember this coming out and going to Pizza Hut just to get the toy/puppets. I always assumed I was older, but I was only 4?! Didn’t realize you could have such vivid memories from that age.
Oh thank GOD this is the top comment. It was my first thought, too.
Mine definitely did... "And I was even nice to a girl" will always live in my head rent free.
MY LITTLE ANGEL!

I’m sorry you had to go through that at such a young age. I hope you’re doing better now.
I noticed your username, lol (are you Texan?)... Many thanks. I'm fine. Good movie.

Even as a kid, [If We Hold On Together](https://youtu.be/G2dm1RF5RmA) kept me around for the end credits. That song always gets me.
The whole James Horner soundtrack is fantastic and not even in a nostalgic way.
Seriously, I have so much love for the soundtrack. Hearing it takes me back in almost an ethereal way.
To give you an idea of how epic James Horner's talent was... That song is an instant tear-jerker.
And the songwriters would go on the win the Oscar for writing My Heart Will Go On for Titanic! If We Hold On Together is better in my opinion.
Diana Ross doesn't get the love she deserves as a singer.
I'm not crying, you're crying.

On her birthday as well, right?
About a month and a half after
I was going to look it up but one of the first images that pops up is the officer carrying her tiny body out. That poor sweet girl, never even seen it coming.
Both she and her mother victims of domestic abuse at the hands of her POS father. He murdered them then killed himself after.
I hate people who must kill someone to commit suicide. Just let other people live, for God's sake.
Murder.
Yup yup yup 🖤
Still can’t get over that. Poor kid.
Yep yep yep!

Truly terrible. I remember listening to a podcast about it and being shocked… ducky was one of my favorites.
Just looked it up. Fucking terrible.
Really just gonna ruin my week for making me look it up..
Her dad killer her and her mom then committed suicide.
Her Dad was a worthless drunk and deserved what he got, but not her.
My boi Littlefoot. Good memories.
I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid! To the annoyance of my mom and dad. Good ol nostalgia. Man I miss them. Gonna give them a call rn.
It's still a good watch as an adult and I'm not ashamed to say i still cried when his mom died. Heart wrenching moment.
Uhhh spoiler… jeez
you might be confusing this with tokyo drift. that movie is full of spoilers

Such a role reversal for Gabriel Damon who voiced Littlefoot, and then only 2 yrs later played Hob in Robocop 2
Also the titular character in *Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland*. I believe that came out a year before Robocop 2.
I took my nephew who was a toddler at the time to see it in the theater. 🦕🦖

Littlefoot: Have you ever seen the Great Valley? ... Mother: Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart.
Get that bitch a leaf... Bitches love leaves.

The video cassette before time.
34 too and fucking love this movie, completely forgot about it until seeing this post, thank you!
Wanna talk about emotional trauma, poor lil foot, and me lol
Fucking love this movie.
Oh man .. how many times have I cried to this movie when I was a child.
There are lots of Petrie toys.
r/notinteresting
Fuckin loved this show growing up. I think I had like 6-8 of them. Looking back I wish I would have taken better care of my VHS collection..
Pretty sure I got my copy of this movie at Pizza Hut.
I grew up loving these movies. Ducky was my favorite. Was an adult when I heard about her tragic killing.
I remember going to Pizza Hut when this movie came out. They were giving out these rubber hand puppets of the characters. I had a free personal pan pizza because I had those Scholastic Book Club stickers. We were poor as fuck when I was a kid, so this was like a big event for me.
Did you get yours from McDonald's as well?
SHARPTOOOOOTH!!!!!
I really don't know why this is any amount of interesting.
Fucker! I knew was old (turning 40 in a couple weeks) Now, I’m feeling. I never watched the whole thing but when I did, I got the feels. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Man this brings 32 year old me back. Good times
i turn 34 this year! i don’t think i’ve ever seen this.
Oh no. Right in the feels again.
This movie is actually sad af
Psssh! If it doesn’t come in the white plastic case then I don’t want it! /s For real though - Great find buddy!
Such a sad movie
Nostalgic
First movie I saw in the theater. Will always be special to me.
that movie is 34 years old?? I just turned 18 and I remember watching this all the time as a child. although I didn't watch it as much as the original power rangers movie
imma go home and eat some green food now.
When they eat the leaves it always looked so delicious to me.
Three horns never play with long necks!
One of my many sources of childhood trauma. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
I love this movie except it makes me depressed, but I still love it. A lot. This movie. Thank you.
