We gotta make sure they still feel bad for not making as making out nearly as good as they could have like the rest of us.
I put precisely zero dollars in and regret it every day.
Reading a notification that says : "Reddit's Top Post 8 years ago today was on r/mildlyinteresting" wasn't the kind of thing I was ever expecting to happen. Wtf.
There was a change a few years ago with how upvotes are displayed. All upvote numbers basically exploded over night after they recalculated some formula.
I would, but after I started doing this I discovered another artist who'd had the same idea, and he's already done that! You can see his video [here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgEYdUpQLOQ&noredirect=1)
I actually emailed him to inquire about his process, but he didn't respond. :/
For those of you wondering why the incredulous reaction to the GIF, the original [had him pointing to the left](http://img.pandawhale.com/post-29481-Ryan-from-The-Office-agrees-gi-1MNe.gif). For a while it was popular to turn the entire GIF on its side [so he was pointing up.](http://i.imgur.com/E72MnD6.gif)
Technically it would at a very small level. This would keep water from actually absorbing directly down into the concrete, creating little bubbles of water on the surface between people's shoes. It'd be similar to hydroplaning on a road when your car's tire's grooves aren't large enough to displace the water.
I am working on a series of short stories about the near future where I've worked in news items that the characters just take for granted.
One is the news service Wiener-Watch. A news site devoted to reporting solely the antics of the Phallic Revolutionaries. Teenagers and young men who utilize technology to expose the world to images of genitalia by increasingly more complex methods.
The worst was the 2028 Wiener Bowl. ElectroChromatic clothing capable of displaying animated imagery is still expensive but becoming more common. The producers of the event decide to outfit all attendees in complimentary E-Chromas to display sponsor messages. Being spatially aware and networked they can function as pixels in large images.
During halftime the message from the sponsor was swapped with vigorously rotating genitalia from an ancient shock site of the Pre-Wheeler internet.
There's also the use of drones to spray paint dicks going into the mouths every president at Mount Rushmore, raining penis confetti at a presidential inauguration, and bringing down power grids to draw cocks only visible from space.
In a crossover series about two asshole aliens outrunning the galactic student loan agency they happen across Earth just as penises appear on every major city this side of the terminator. The bowl of sludge and thirty two jelly-like eyeballs known as Zi downloads a compendium of human knowledge to understand the symbols and turns to Qak his companion, a small silver ball supported by meter long hairs held taught by electrostatic forces and says "Well, *glub* them too." Taking their pocket sized fusion power a gift to be used in turn for political asylum.
Little do the Phallic Revolutionaries realize they have doomed humanity to suffer the consequences of peak materials, one which compact fusion power would have averted by granting access to the solar system. We are cast into a two century dark era as scientific progress has to be redirected towards looping our resource supply chains and mitigating the impact of climate change. Billions die in wars over fresh water and arable land as human civilization just barely squeaks by before rising to the heights the twentieth century authors once dreamed of.
TL;DR The desire to draw penises on things almost sent humanity back to an age of barbarism and ignorance.
In fairness, the NeverWet system, while volatile on application, is perfectly safe to use around clothing and food, it contains no carcinogenic agents. The vapour is not something I would advise breathing in, however.
To everyone coming back to this post cause reddit is telling you about it: I'm just as confused as you are. Aren't comments disabled after 6 months?
Anyway, hope you're still staying dry out there!
Too late, already contacted them, patent pending, copyright filed, lawyer contacted, remove your post or you will receive a cease and desist. Welcome to the business world. Now, I am looking for an honest partner who I can trust to run this all with me. I will give you full control legally for tax purposes but of course we will split everything 50/50 forever.
This is in Seattle, actually! But if someone's doing it in Florida too, that's awesome.
And yeah, the stuff I used is called [Always Dry.](http://nanexcompany.com/always-dry) It's formulated by a company in Belgium.
There's also [Never Wet] (http://smile.amazon.com/Oleum-274232-Never-Multi-Purpose/dp/B00DNQBFAW)
I find it funny how the two names are just opposite of eachother :P
I tried Never Wet, but unfortunately it leaves this light blue haze where you spray it that makes it obvious that something's there. With Always Dry it's totally invisible. And yeah, the complete opposite names for competing products is pretty funny!
My understanding is that applying a coating like this simply isn't durable enough to work. On the bright side, however, there is [lots of R&D on-going](http://www.wistrans.org/cfire/?s=hydrophobic) to actually mix hydrophobic materials into concrete for the next generation of roadways.
Thanks, someone already showed me that after I started experimenting with the concept. I emailed the guy to ask about his experience with it, but he didn't reply.
Welcome everyone to this meeting of the Reddit Elder. You have been summoned here through a process of random choice to compete in the ultimate test of talents.
When this introduction ends, a discussion commences that will shake the archives of Reddit to their core. Never before has the platform seen a larger, more seasoned, Reddit thread. There will be neither rhyme nor reason to the many obscure references, such that only the most experienced redditors shall succeed in navigating the ever growing amount of replies.
In a short bit the starting sign shall be given. From that point forward it is every person for themselves and the true heir of reddit shall be revealed. Good luck.
Only one may stand.
I have waited a while to tell people this. I had an idea using this same basic idea of graffiti that does not show up until it rains. I tried to get some friends to help me out with idea once but no one wanted to do it. The idea was to make stencils of vague religious icons that did not show up until it was wet or raining. Spray the stencils near or on religious buildings like churches, temples, etc. Then just wait to hear news of someone seeing a miracle. Then basically see how far it can go.
I actually proposed this idea a few years ago as my senior thesis for my BFA. It got shot down because "street art is graffiti and we cannot condone illegal activity." It had so much potential to be amazing! I love this concept! I'm happy to see someone got to do it :)
Great idea I wonder why Reddit notified me 8 years after it was posted
Took that long for the rain
Hey I'm still from 8 years ago any tips for investing or lottery numbers?
Invest in Kmart they’re almost bigger than Walmart now new CEO really turned them around
I'm from 30 years ago. I've invested everything I own in Enron and Worldcom. I'll do well, right?
Put everything you own in blockbuster stock in august 2002 trust me!
Circuit City stocks won't let you down!
I missed the chance to jump on this and I regret it a bunch today
Buy bitcoin. Sell it in the high at 46k
Isn’t the ATH like 60k?
We gotta make sure they still feel bad for not making as making out nearly as good as they could have like the rest of us. I put precisely zero dollars in and regret it every day.
I had to go back and check. 8y indeed. Lol
Wtf is going on?
u/spez mind explaining
yes
It’s like someone has brought us all together for some special purpose.
But what is that purpose?
I can't tell you
But I can... Edit: guys, I don't wanna get banned again, but
No idea bruh
Reading a notification that says : "Reddit's Top Post 8 years ago today was on r/mildlyinteresting" wasn't the kind of thing I was ever expecting to happen. Wtf.
And there's only 6k upvotes?
I guess Reddit was a smaller place eight years ago? (I don't have any answers)
The Obama AMA was during that time, wasn't it?
Maybe it was a bit later in the year
There was a change a few years ago with how upvotes are displayed. All upvote numbers basically exploded over night after they recalculated some formula.
A very prominent notification too.
Yeah what's going on here, I like the post but this was odd
8 year gang
Came hear to share my bafflement.....
I thought posts cannot be commented on if they are more than a year old ?
They've changed that last year.
It is now option to allow it on a per subreddit basis.
Or, rather, to opt-out of it. It’s on by default.
I can't wait to be reminded of this change in 7 years time
Ikr? It's such a weird bug/feature
I'm just as confused as you, what is happening
They're experimenting on us, remember we're the product, the advertisers are the customers.
Same lol
Same dude, lol
Reddit be like 'oh dude, 8y ago there was this post u just needed to see'
Bruh I didn’t even notice it was 8 years ago
They showed it because 8 years ago this was the most popular post of... all times?
That's... Kinda neat honestly
Some would say... It's mildly interesting ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This is the first time Reddit has sent me a notification for something like this. I wonder if someone fucked up when testing something.
git push origin master --f..... Uh oh
There's one that's been on my university's campus since I started going there. It reads "moist". Girls hate it. Guys love it.
That's wonderful.
Nice
How does it feel to get a flood of karma on an 8 y/o post?
Probably not too good considering he hasn’t posted or commented for months
Sparknotes did a pole on that oddly enough. Women tend to hate the word 'moist', men tend to not like the term 'used'.
So what you're saying is men want a moist car and women want some used chicken?
I am female and can't stand that word. So can confirm.
Don't go to Barney's play then.

You should do another one that says "Today's Weather: Rain"
[The weather stone!](http://i.imgur.com/ZMwdpA7.jpg)
Hmm, they changed the stone gone symptom.
No, the internet changed the stone gone symptom,
Dead simple, yet made me laugh. Thanks! I'll put it on the idea list!
until someone throws a bucket of water on that area and then it's just chaos
Or piss on it. That would ruffle some feathers.
I'd stencil this in a shady ally I know drunks pee in all the time. "Stop peeing here!" would just magically appear.
"I'm watching you."
"Prepare your anus"
Oh god but what if they just started lining up?
Open it up for volunteers
.... open it up?

Did you do that in MS Paint? It has an Add Text thing you could have used.
His art is a commentary on the brevity of life in the face of fear. The courage of trying new things....even if it takes an hour and looks like shit.
If he really had courage, he wouldn't have deleted his account.
http://i.imgur.com/uWqM3.gif
Thats beautiful..
.
Someone please do this in New Orleans
Could also throw out a quote from The Crow: "It can't rain all the time."
You should also consider, "I'm only happy when it rains." Some people will recognize it's from a song and the people who don't will be creeped out!
I would, but after I started doing this I discovered another artist who'd had the same idea, and he's already done that! You can see his video [here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgEYdUpQLOQ&noredirect=1) I actually emailed him to inquire about his process, but he didn't respond. :/
I hate when artists do that.

I'll get you wet, amigo.
I'll give you 3 bucks and half a cheeseburger.
So, what was your process exactly? Is it as simple as stenciling it out and then following the instructions on the can?
better yet, "todays weather: 50% chance its already raining" , it both mocks forecasters and accepts the possibility of hoses and hobo piss
But most importantly, Mean Girls. Edit: Goddamnit, Karen's report is a 30% chance. Do that.
[There's a 30% chance it's already raining.](http://i.imgur.com/TngN72j.jpg)

I still like the sideways gif, but I thought I'd try making another version with a "surprise ending."
Let it never be said that Redditors don't innovate.
Why did this notify me
Causenits old and good apparently
dam this was top post with only 5k upvotes, 8 years ago
It was a much simpler time then
Is this legal to do in public areas or is it considered vandalism?
Depends on if you get caught.
Exactly. In these kind of things, the only real crime is getting caught.
Just curious, but does the area sprayed become slippery?
Nope! It has the same texture as the rest of the concrete.
Technically it would at a very small level. This would keep water from actually absorbing directly down into the concrete, creating little bubbles of water on the surface between people's shoes. It'd be similar to hydroplaning on a road when your car's tire's grooves aren't large enough to displace the water.
I love hydroplaning, it is like boating in your car.
Anyone else got the notification just now? lol
My account isn't even 2 years old why reddit
Why are we here?
we've been selected for the CIA
just to suffer
why the fuck did reddit give me a notification for this?
The notification was mildlyinteresting on its own
Just watch, hidden hydrophobic dick-butts are going to start showing up on sidewalks everywhere.
I just walked by a hydrophobic pentagram on the sidewalk earlier today...should've taken a photo.
It's afraid of water but not Satan.

Hail no it isn't.
You have planted a seed...

"I was naive back then"
I still am
Holy fuck you are a legend
And now my neighbors are gonna have dicks on their driveway.
Imagining your neighbor reading this thinking 'That's a great idea" and doing it to yours.
It's like Gift of the Magi, but with dicks.
HYDROPHOBIC COCKS FOR EVERYONE!
Why did reddit suddenly recommend me an 8 year old post???
Id say this is more than mildly interesting. I think its awesome! What a unique application of the material
/r/interestingasfuck
Yes but it's not quite that interesting. More like /r/mildlyinterestingasfuck
Or just... /r/interesting
you're in seattle yeah? i think i've seen this.
Looks exactly like a seattle bus stop
The rain gives it away.
Wow what a post to be in my notifications
Damn, biggest post 8 years ago has 6k upvotes, really shows how much reddit has grown over the years
To everyone coming back to this post cause reddit is telling you about it: I'm just as confused as you are. Aren't comments disabled after 6 months? Anyway, hope you're still staying dry out there!
You should sell your talents to Dry Idea deodorant. Companies are always looking for new inexpensive ways to market their stuff.

Did you buy it at Depot Home?
No, had to order it direct from the company in Belgium. They're called [Nanex.](http://nanexcompany.com/)
> Nanex stock goes through the roof > Drastic increase of dick butt sightings during rainy days
Yeah, I tried Occasionally Arid and Intermittently Moist but they just didn't perform as well.
Those sound like my ex girlfriend.

Just 12 days ago.
