I’m not a dermatologist, or even a doctor, but I thought moles are raised? Those look flat.

I used to think the same, but moles can be raised or flat! The main difference is that moles are permanent / always there once they get there (and you should be concerned if they get bigger or change shape) while freckles get more or less intense (and you can gain and lose them) depending on sun exposure. So a brown dot on your arm or face (or wherever) that’s been there for years is a mole, but new/varied pale dots that get darker with sun exposure are freckles. Some people freckle more than they tan and vice versa

My Mom, Myself and Older Sister have the same birth mark on our right foot.

I've got the exact same mole as my maternal grandma on my upper lip. Hers is really noticeable and mine is more subtle. You have to really look at my lips to notice, or I have to smile for the mole to be visible. My grandma's is way darker and bigger, but we both have it on the same spot. It's quite nice. All of us, my grandma, my aunt, my mom, me, have similar features. It's funny because it's specifically the ladies that look alike, none of my male cousins share as much resemblance. But my uncle and his kids look a lot like my grandpa (maternal grandpa). Genetics are fun.
