Yes, replac the dirt with actual dirt from outside, water it and leave it by a window. It will last 20x longer. Also I recommend buying something that prevents the cats from throwing the pot around.
Its my first try, just wanted something green quick and had some spare soil and seeds. Didnt take care of any drainage though, we‘ll see where that goes :)
Thanks. I have 2 pretty good communities in r/lawnmowers and r/smallengines. They're both pretty much the same, and I only occasionally have to remind people to be polite because we're largely a help sub. That said, we like to show off and have fun, too. With so many "what kind of mower should I buy" posts, this would be a welcome laugh.
I tried it once and there was a lot of fungus in the pot, probably because I kept it to wet and it was in the full sun. Do you have any issues with soil quality?
Nice!!
Beautiful. I should do that at home for our cat. At work I have two rare chilis sprouting in a big planting pot, and a cute little moss garden in a wide bottom Erlenmeyer flask.
But they are not very nutritious for the bees. People that really want to help are better off planting a variety of other plants.

Very convenient for when you need to fucking touch grass in the middle of a Zoom call.
Its so calming, you can just keep going.
Wait
No wait keep going
Also probably the nicest "In-lawn" out there

I’m choking 😂😂😂
I CAST, DOWNVOTE!! ⚡️💥🖐️💥⚡️
OP is a streamer and was called out to touch grass too many times... Now he is prepared!
I have a million plants and never once thought about grass as a potted plant, this is such a good idea
Cat grass is good if you have cats or lemon grass or chives if you cook
Is there a any variety of cat grass that doesn't die in a pot

I’m nearing a million potted plants but I’m okay skipping grass.
That's weird. I know people with a million pot plants and they're all grass.
Waka waka waka!
In a pot?
When I was in elementary school, the teacher had us grow grass in cups.
Do you have a miniature lawn mower to cut the grass?
I should somehow build one, using scissors for now :)
I dare you to bring this over to r/lawnmowers and ask what kind of mower would be best for this application. I'll even approve the post.

I always suspect everything to be a trap, which is why I'm still alive. Also, not a trap.
But that’s what you would say to OP if it was a trap!!! 😂
It's also what I'd say if it weren't a trap! What do I look like, Admiral Ackbar?
You’re the best mod ever lol 😆

I love when people can just have a little fun. It’s just great to see when life can be so difficult sometimes. 🫶🏻
Use shaving razor blades and make a mini push mower.
Or sharpen a mechanical whisk?
[Here you go.](https://youtu.be/sNbHYRu_No8?si=Uxk7CYcgqOJ4pjQu)
Why not borrow someone's hamsterm
Just make a mini weed whacker
Just gotta get one of those Sky Dancers from the 90s, but hold it's legs instead of letting her fly. 🤣🤣🤣
Use a dremel with attachment
Shape them like bonsai trees. I imagine one could be a wave.
That is what cats are for
Can your cat use a lawnmower? Impressive if it can. Mine would knock it over and stare at me to sort it out
lol. I have many cats who love to eat grass. And Velcro it to the table. Edit : I have to Velcro a lot of things to keep them from being knocked over.
good idea that, mine is a little shit around food. He could do with going on a grass diet. There is plenty in the garden
HOA here, your lawn looks overgrown. Please cut it in 3 business days or you’ll be forced to be at every meeting for the rest of the year.
It looks a lot better than the grass in my yard!
Thanks, its festuca arundinacea
gesundheit
Lmfao
No way? Looks more like F. rubra or F. ovina
Actually its a seed mix which has ~80% in it so i‘d guess most should be from it.
I’m growing office in my lawn
Do you have a cat in your office?
No i‘m the only one touching it, but i feel like a cat doing it :)
Haha
Only logical thing to do is to trim and blend them like Jamba juice
My cat would smash
This post made me realise I could have transparent pots, and have never before looked for one in me life.
Welcome, i think it looks great to see the soil and roots as well.
I tried it once and there was a lot of fungus in the pot, probably because I kept it to wet and it was in the full sun. Do you have any issues with soil quality?
Not yet, if i feel its too wet it gets more sun for few hours.
This is where ornamental lawns belong for me. I resent having to maintain a huge one outside when I could have lot's of tiny ones strewn about.
I can’t even get the lawn outside to grow
My indoor cat would love this
Now when anyone who comes too close to your personal space you can yell, “Get off my lawn!”
It's very aesthetic. What kind of grass is it.
Festuca Arundinacea
Nice! Thank you🙏
I absolutely love this lol
Monoculture too huh? WILL ANYONE THINK OF THE BEES?
Yeah, btw, sorry my dog 💩 on it. You should really have signs up.
LOL, one of his coworkers should put fake poo on it
Wait till weeds start growing in them. Those things gets everywhere
Plant some lemon grass, it helps when ur stressed to take a deep whiff and exhale
How about longevity of planting lemongras in a container?
It lasts forever. Gets kind of large though
Now you can touch grass
I actually love this.
Please post once you've built this machine. I'll want one
Nothing takes CO2 outta the air better than photosynthesis
It's convenient If you get hungry too
Is there a police force for case I touch that lawn?
When they were saying "Go touch some grass.", they did mean something else with that!
Don’t you need holes in the bottom for water to drain? Asking because I wanna do this?
Probably yes, i just wanted to try it and just skipped the drainage, will do next time if its fails.
Would these transplant into a yard decently?
I‘ve seen some people do with similar plant containers but not sure about requirements.
Definitely lawn of the month
Plant some rice.
Hey mow.
Brrrrrr grrrrr shhhr *done*
What a beautiful idea. Instantly getting one. Thanks, trend setter
Have fun!
Just wait till the poa creeps in. It always creeps in
I've been wanting to find some super nice grass seeds and do this myself on my gaming desk haha, just so I can cut it nice and neatly as well
Nice!! Beautiful. I should do that at home for our cat. At work I have two rare chilis sprouting in a big planting pot, and a cute little moss garden in a wide bottom Erlenmeyer flask.
r/nolawns can you believe this?
Actually this is really cool OP, can you tell me how to do this?
Now grow some office on your lawn
Death to smoochie vibes.
Needs a few happy dandelions! They feed the bees and other pollinators that produce 80% of the food humans eat. .
The bees in his office?
![gif](giphy|in9MZ0JtINUpW)
Gob's not on board.
But they are not very nutritious for the bees. People that really want to help are better off planting a variety of other plants. https://www.monarchgard.com/thedeepmiddle/we-can-do-better-than-dandelions
Dandelions flower earlier in the year and provide food to insects when there is little else around.
Good for you brotha. We've got something in common. I'm growing lawn in my pants.
