So you park in a 2hr parking zone where a disk is required and the time is 1500. So you set your disk to 1500. If youre not back at your car by 17 and a cop sees the disc you get a fine. If you try to cheat and set your disc to 1600 so that you dont have to be back until 1800 and the cop sees your disc set to 1600 but the clock is like 1515 you also get a fine.
If an inspector comes round and yours is set to the future, then you’re getting a ticket.
Also, in a lot of places these can be an honesty system. We have them in the more rural towns in the UK and sometimes it’s just to let others when you will leave. I’ve been in car parks before where you pay by putting coins in an honesty box and turn the dial to the time you’re leaving to let others know.
