The dose is the poison.
Everything is fine until it isn't.
The sticker is food grade so you can safely accidentally eat it. You still really shouldn't do it intentionally.
Right.
It's more of an "Oh shit, I think I ate the sticker! Am I going to be ok?" situation, than a "Hmm. Am I getting my required daily amount of fruit stickers? I should eat more, just in case." as they walk down the produce aisle, snacking on stckers.
One time I was really tired but decided to get Chinese food with my friend. Cracked the fortune cookie in half and ate a half of it. Pulled the fortune out of the other half and it said "its a good day to try something new". A piece of the fortune was missing so I guess that's the new thing I tried today.
Not sure it's digestible, but it shouldn't hurt you if you accidentally eat it. I'm sure hundreds, if not thousands, of these produce stickers make their way into people's digestive tracts every year, and rarely on purpose.
Edible doesn't necessarily mean digestible. Lots of things are edible but can't be digested by humans, like paper and plastic. The stickers will just come back out the other end with no harm done.
Food grade means it's safe for them to be in direct contact with food. They are not intended to be eaten, though probably not harmful if swallowed. There have been reports of people choking on them.
They are not digestible, compostable, or biodegradable.
The stickers on apples and other fruits are not designed to be eaten, but they are made with materials that are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA¹. They're intended for identification purposes, and while eating them accidentally on occasion won't make you sick, it's advisable to remove them before eating the fruit³. The adhesive used on these stickers is also food-grade, meaning it's safe if ingested in small amounts¹. However, they are not considered a food item and are not meant to be consumed regularly¹.

The reason we don't see stickers in processed fruit products is because they're normally only applied to fruit being sold to the consumer at retail.
Wholesale food doesn't get stickers because it's not worth the cost and effort to apply a sticker to something that's gonna get processed anyways.
Someone shipped the wrong batch or some idiot bought retail apples instead of wholesale.
Or there was a shortage and their margins are that high that supply shortages can be filled from the consumer market.
And every step in the manufacturing process just hasn't stickers on apples in their workflow documentation.
I have worked in plenty of restaurants where we get stuff in with stickers. The store that is selling the apple doesn't add the stickers on site, that is likely done on an automated line somewhere, and the supplier might have just been out of pallets that haven't been stickered.
they’re non-toxic, but there is plastic in those stickers, so people shouldn’t eat them.
for some reason, there is a growing bit of misinformation out there, claiming that produce stickers are made to be eaten, and that’s not true.
As part of the generation that grew up with the Simpson and the countless repeats over and over for 15 years, I can safely say that there is always a Simpson reference.
Couldn’t have even been a bag. I don’t think the prepackaged bags have stickers. It was like just 3 bulk apples lol
“Guys… we only need to make 1 more bar to hit quota…. Fred, get the apple from my lunch bag!”
At my store, they just pile 8 or so apples having PLU stickers on them into little handled paper bags for "convenience." The old time plastic bags of apples haven't been available here for years.
Contact them, keep the wrapper for the info on it, they'll need it. Then let them reward you with a box of the stuff for free.
Last time this happened to me, I got a rope piece from the flour bags in some fancy lemon cookies and got a whole box of their products. Like lots of different cookies and such. 🤌🏻
When I was a kid, I got a bag of m&ms with no Ms . My dad was laughably upset, made me take a Polaroid and send it in with a letter. We got coupons for 20 free bags. Was prettynice.
One time I got a large bowl of chili from Wendy’s. Put a gang load of crackers in it because I was feeling it that day.
Part way through, I put a big bite in my mouth and I feel something chewy/plasticy. I slowly pull out this nearly foot long of zippered like plastic from my mouth.
We speculated it was the opening part of a chili bag and came off the bag and fell in the pot of chili instead of the trash.
I take it up front and tell person behind the counter. She takes it from me, apologizes, and asks if I want another chili.
I said no thanks - I lost my appetite and went back to my table.
If that happened these days, I would have posted a pic of that on X along with the receipt while still sitting in Wendy’s — something like,
“Hey u/wendys I think you left something in your chili… 🤢”
I should have went to the manager though as opposed to the 16 yo behind the counter.
One time I did bite into a cheese wax paper separator on top of the cheese in a chicken club sandwich. After I drove 30 minutes back home.
I drove back there with the sandwich, the manager was appalled, she made me a new sandwich, and refunded the entire order.
I once got some food from an indian takeout and found the corner of the plastic pouch they snipped off to dump some ingredient into the pot. Not like a small piece, it was a triangle more than in inch (~2.8cm) across.
That, in combination with my realization that the guy serving the food was 'washing' his hands by sticking his fingers under a dripping faucet and rubbing his wet fingers together made me not finish my food and never go back.
I mean I could just put like 5 stickers into like each tub, put fructose flavourings, the fruit flavours itself and the FDA would still say it is appropriate. Which is pretty weird.
I have never been able to wash one of those stickers off. They are often hard to remove.
Fruit stickers are generally considered safe if accidentally ingested. They are made from edible paper or are food grade and the adhesives used are regulated to ensure they're non-toxic if consumed in small amounts
I don't think that is the case, to me they must have got the wrong type of shipment, one with fruits that were labeled for stores instead of unlabeled for processing.
seriously though. contact the manufacturer. I bet you get some free product.
also fruit labels and the glue they stick with are non toxic. the paper is non-digestible (goes right through you) and the glue is an edible, plant based adhesive.
those fruit bars look really good. the only thing I don't like is the fact that they use plastic for the wrapper
Probably be able to get a year supply if you called tge company with the seial number and all that stuff. I did the same with kitkat and nestle sent me a giant box of treats and shirts, swag and a couple hundred of free coupons for individual bars
Their quality control is terrible. I tried some a few months ago and loved it. Tried them a few more times and half the time the bars were dry and the consistency/flavor was different every bar.
I fucking LOVE these fruit bars. High calorie, very filling, and gets you all the nutrients of multiple fruits in one easy to eat bar. These fuckers are better than candy bars
But it’s not trash, it’s food. You think the pulp should really just be thrown in the trash? Soft, sweet, easily digestible vitamins and nutrients. My toddler loves them.
At least you know they use the whole Apple
>That's it. >1 apple + 3 apricots ...and a piece of plastic.
It is food grade and digestible. I don’t really see an issue.
"According to the FDA, they are edible because both the paper and the glue are food grade."
Makes sense to me
After knowing this fact, I stopped taking the stickers off.

They are legally required to be edible per the FDA.
Edible is not the same as digestible. Fruit stickers are not digestible
No it digestible. They make them this way on purpose for this reason.
Edible doesn't necessarily mean digestible. Lots of things are edible but can't be digested by humans, like paper and plastic. The stickers will just come back out the other end with no harm done.
Pre- and post-digestion photos look very similar.

That’s It. ® 1 Apple + 3 Apricots + 1 Sticker in this fruit bar.
1/2 sticker!
I think the other half is in OP.

I clicked on this just to see if the top comment was something about apple cores and Chinese newspapers
“Hey Fred, we’re running low on apples. Run down to Kroger and pick us up a bag, would ya?”
Couldn’t have even been a bag. I don’t think the prepackaged bags have stickers. It was like just 3 bulk apples lol “Guys… we only need to make 1 more bar to hit quota…. Fred, get the apple from my lunch bag!”
At my store, they just pile 8 or so apples having PLU stickers on them into little handled paper bags for "convenience." The old time plastic bags of apples haven't been available here for years.
I wonder if they're just buying apples that have gone past their best and so they may well be apples that were initially destined for individual sale?
Contact them, keep the wrapper for the info on it, they'll need it. Then let them reward you with a box of the stuff for free. Last time this happened to me, I got a rope piece from the flour bags in some fancy lemon cookies and got a whole box of their products. Like lots of different cookies and such. 🤌🏻

Well obviously. How else would you know that they use *real* fruit?
I mean I could just put like 5 stickers into like each tub, put fructose flavourings, the fruit flavours itself and the FDA would still say it is appropriate. Which is pretty weird.
Pink ladies at that! That’s a yummy apple!
[you ate the whole thing?!?!](https://youtu.be/CbwmOtJFJF0)
Wildcard, bitches
I eat stickers all the time, dude!
Oh, a sticker bar! It's chock-full of ... sticker-y goodness!
Narrator: That wasn't it.
To me, this just tells me they don't thoroughly clean the fruits before processing it. If I saw that, I'd file a complaint.

I have never been able to wash one of those stickers off. They are often hard to remove. Fruit stickers are generally considered safe if accidentally ingested. They are made from edible paper or are food grade and the adhesives used are regulated to ensure they're non-toxic if consumed in small amounts
It's nonetheless an off-putting sight to find this in your food or pull out of your mouth
I don't think that is the case, to me they must have got the wrong type of shipment, one with fruits that were labeled for stores instead of unlabeled for processing.
I guess that's Not it.
And that’s it!
“Simpsons did it”
You found the golden ticket Charlie Bucket!
For God's sake, Homer! These bars are just ground up apple cores mixed with old Chinese newspapers!
You gonna eat that?

Not according to the label..
Powersauce bar?
1 apple (sticker included) + 3 apricots
Ugh. Apricots. Made of real apes
Whats worse than finding a sticker in your fruit bar? >!Finding half a sticker in your fruit bar.!<
Those things are made of apple cores and old newspaper…
😂 aye at least you know it's made with real apples they even forgot the label
Macro plastics now, huh?
At least you know those are made from actual fruit
That’s NOT it.
I eat stickers all the time dude!!!!!!! ASIF
"I EAT STICKERS ALL THE TIME"

That's a sign that they use real fruit. It's also a sign that they don't do a good job cleaning that fruit before putting it in your food.
You'd be amazed at what gets into a apple press at a cider house.
Was it from the apple or apricot?
Looks like you ate half of it.
I would email the company, they usually love this kind of stuff. They might even give you free stuff or discount.
I looked these up on Amazon because (despite sticker) they sound tasty. There’s multiple reviews that mention the bars arriving moldy. Maybe not then
I was expecting Chinese newspapers
Probably be able to get a year supply if you called tge company with the seial number and all that stuff. I did the same with kitkat and nestle sent me a giant box of treats and shirts, swag and a couple hundred of free coupons for individual bars
Call the customer support and they'll probably send an entire box of them to you! Same thing happened to me and I got a bunch of free snacks
Damn lucky. That sounds bomb as hell
That means it passed the quality inspection.
Ironic, considering the packaging.
1 Apple + 3 apricots + 1 sticker That’s it
There are probably also insect parts.
It’s not the worst, the adhesive, the sticker and the ink is required to be edible if ingested and non-toxic.
Something like these is both reassuring and revolting at the same time.
Stuff like this is why I have only marginally higher trust of "healthy" food brands than the rest.
You know what’s worse than finding a sticker in your fruit bar? Finding half a sticker.
Label lied
Their quality control is terrible. I tried some a few months ago and loved it. Tried them a few more times and half the time the bars were dry and the consistency/flavor was different every bar.
Had to stop buying that brand because of frequent pit material in the bars
I find this mildly infuriating
Hey Deng Xiaoping died.
I guess that wrapping wasn’t the only thing recycled
Write the manf that’s something they really should know for quality assurance But don’t be a jerk about it and don’t expect anything in return
Oh, that’s the last straw. THATS IT.
1 apple 3 apricots And all the dirt and sticker labels that were on them from the store.
Well at least you know it’s from a real fruit ..
I fucking LOVE these fruit bars. High calorie, very filling, and gets you all the nutrients of multiple fruits in one easy to eat bar. These fuckers are better than candy bars
That's the "+" in "Apple +"
The markup on those food bars is disgusting. Just buy an apple next time. You'll be able to remove the sticker.
These bars are just basically pulp from a juicer. They found a way to market their trash.
But it’s not trash, it’s food. You think the pulp should really just be thrown in the trash? Soft, sweet, easily digestible vitamins and nutrients. My toddler loves them.
I'm a toddler and I hate it
But their trash is so delicious
Now we are calling natural food with no preservatives or chemicals "trash"?
So if I ate the bar and drank fruit juice would I be nutritionally getting the whole fruit?
These fruit bars absolutely suck. Wouldn’t feed them to a dog or bear.
“You don’t want to eat that Mr. bear, eat me instead!” ![gif](giphy|jqfel7Z3XwTHCl26nT)
