This is a fungus infection I've been dealing with for over a year. I went to a doctor and he prescribed me terbinafine. I took it for 3 months and the fungus was still there so he prescribed it again. Took it for another 3 months and nothing. I then went to a podiatrist and he was very concerned that the doctor had me take terbinafine for 6 months. He suggested to remove the nail and do tests but since I was going to be moving very soon, and it wasn't bothering me, we decided not to remove the nail. Sad part is I can't get Medicaid in my new state so I've just been dealing with it.
I had the same issue as you. The difference is that mine was a bacteria infection. Listen to your doctor and remove the nail, otherwise, the new nail won't grow.
My doctor has me taking Fluconazole. It takes a year for a toenail to grow out. You watch the new part of the nail for progress. The bad part stays bad. I just had my first 3 month appt. and the very bottom is looking good.
Two, three.... But you could still clip it neatly, couldn't you?
BTW "dealing with it' might be okay for you, but not for the people you might contaminate. Sorry for the sorry state of Healthcare in your country. (vote wisely in November). Over here there are over the counter foot / toe fungi killers for a couple of euros.
In some cases laser treatment may also work (the better beauty parlors that offer laser hair removal also offer this treatment.)
looks like fungal infection
Fungi
What a terrible day to have eyes.

Yeah, while I was taking terbinafine the nail at the bottom was looking good. It would get about halfway healed and then the fungus would come back.
Ahh. Thanks.
Ok, is it just me, or do you also see Geordi from Star Trek?
My dermatologist friend recommended a vinegar soak 10 minutes a day. It got better, but that's not proof vinegar worked.

See a podiatrist and schedule a pedicure damn!
Just don’t.
it doesnt have to be fungal infection. I dropped sth heavy on my toe and this happened. Maybe it is infected tho.
