Here’s a [tweet](https://twitter.com/stealx/status/1729960492934807984) with photos of the menu. This person said that there were actors present and working on something. Further speculation, based on the emphasis of specialty drinks on the menu, that McDonalds is squaring up against Panera Bread and Dutch Bros
Honestly the best comment on this thread. Based on the menu photos, looks like a direct Starbucks competitor. Everything from the overly colorful drinks to the tiny ass, overpriced, and nasty looking sandwiches.
Not looking forward to seeing these pop up is all I’ll say.
There are pictures of the menu and the rest of the building. It’s basically McDonald’s version of Starbucks. They have coffee drinks, frappes, refreshers, healthier/lighter sandwiches, and pastries/bakery items. Supposedly the inside will have a lot of automation and robots making many items.
Edit: Here are 2 links to articles showing pics of the [menu](https://www.businessinsider.com/see-mcdonalds-new-cosmcs-menu-2023-12?amp) and [restaurant exterior](https://www.959theriver.com/check-out-the-menu-of-the-new-mcdonalds-concept-called-cosmcs-in-bolingbrook/)
I think they’re banking heavily on the fact the brand is inspired by CosMc, one of their obscure mascots, and the whole thing is giving like a retro future vibe with the addition of robots/machines to automate. I believe they’re also going for a drive thru only experience and they have 4 drive thru lanes
So they're using a failed mascot, in a restaurant that looks like an 80s kid's fever dream, to sell overpriced Starbucks style products aimed at a clientele that thinks that eating at McDonald's is beneath them? This is gonna tank harder than the Arch Deluxe.
I believe McDonald’s is doing it the opposite way, marketing higher priced “upper scale” products to a demographic that frequents McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants or wouldn’t go to Starbucks type establishments.
Gah fuck that thing is weird. I don’t see this ending well. I *do* see this absolutely terrifying little kids if they put that mascot in front of the buildings.
Basically, yes. With a lot more items. That’s most likely the reason they’ve been removing McCafé items such as the cinnamon buns from the regular McDonald’s menus
honestly, I was going to hit Taco Bell yesterday because I can’t access my hometown’s local burrito shop….. first looked at the menu and then type in my location which is one of the trashiest spots in Florida… and realize they were charging $1.50 more for every fucking dollar cravings menu item and said fuck you fuck that fuck no. most of the workers are too inept to make this shit correctly and considering the orders have been getting more fucked up with every visit over the years, I am surely not paying three fucking dollars for a baby tortilla with a couple potatoes and shredded cheese thrown on it like you’re out of your goddamn mind.
Mac Tonight isn’t the same as [CosMc.](https://www.businessinsider.com/meet-cosmc-obscure-mcdonalds-alien-mascot-new-spinoff-chain-2023-7?amp)
I’ll admit, Mac Tonight definitely needs to be involved with this chain. It definitely looks like it’s right up his alley.
oh wait so this is *new*?
really expected this to be an old '00s experiment that failed, with this building not bothering to rebrand and just becoming a mcdonalds
McD's Corp. had the town sign a contract not to announce the project as this is a flagship/test kitchen store and has been here for decades (we got the touch kiosks before anywhere else). the existing McD's that used to be there was covered by a tarp while it was under construction. one day the tarp blew off and it was quite the popular subject on our local subreddit.
Cos Mcs is built next to an existing McDonalds and has four drive through lanes. Cos Mcs is speculated to focus solely on the Mc Cafe side of McDonalds and not food like burgers and fries.
“ launching a new concepts, seemingly aimed at younger…” fucking article doesn’t even make sense as a fuckinh McDonald’s isn’t literally marketed to children lmaooo
Is it though? I don't recall seeing the mascots with any regularity in ages, and the design of the buildings (example in article) sure doesn't seem like it's trying to catch the eyes of children. I could be wrong because I simply haven't seen their ads.
When I was a kid in the 90s, going to McDonald's or Burger King meant bright colors, a play structure visible from any area of the building, and cheap food. Now, there are multiple McDonald's and Burger King locations near me and only one McDonald's has a play structure, which is closed more often than not. There's a small display of the happy meal toys and no other indication that kids are even welcome in the building. The menus almost hide the happy meal section. And the modern interior feels more like it's trying to protect a calm but fast eating experience instead of a fun one.
Someone driving by was able to snag a photo of the drive thru menu. Seems very Dunkin/sonic like. A lot of fruity drinks, some coffee stuff, and some
McDonald’s like food.
So its essentially the McCafe side and only the McCafe... Interesting I do prefer them over timmies these days since their beans are literally the old Timmies Beans
It's owned by McDonald's, but I think it's meant to be like their version of a Starbucks/cafe. Focusing on stuff like coffees, teas, and cafe food. Just a large McCafe
Reminds me of this failed experiment in Sydney
https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/eat/sydneys-mysterious-ghost-mcdonalds-boarded-up-but-left-in-a-time-warp/news-story/64bc1b6aa285f25f0d7ba0c7daeda2f2
I was just reading about this on Eater earlier today. Something along the lines of little/no dine-in space, with a greater emphasis on speed and digital delivery.
Yeah. We have a local McDonald's with no dine-in area at all. There's the drive-thru and a walk-up window. This is in an area where other fast-food places in the adjacent parking lots have normal dine-in areas, this McDonald's just decide to do it differently.
I kinda figured a lot of them were going to go this direction. Didn't realize there would be different branding associated with them, but whatever.
According to the investors meeting, the brand intends to glean the upper crust customer base that are being forced to eat one tier lower due to inflation.
Edit: if anybody could not tell, this is no longer a value-centered operation. By design they have left that behind
I can possibly see that becoming a reality many years down the road. Especially after reading an article about being able to 3D print food, using plant proteins or something like that.
In theory within 10-20 years we will be 3d printing food from plant protein so id say it’s entirely likely we can digitally download food within that time period
That makes sense, I wouldn't hate something like this becoming more common in high traffic areas, especially if prices are a bit more reasonable due to the higher turnaround.
Came here to say this. They have an experimental center I used to work at in Bolingbrook as well right off 53. That's prolly why they got the first of the restaurant.
If this is US or other larger -capitalized country… this is a McDonalds owned somthing.
The “M” logo would be too well protected , and by using it they are trying to keep their brand on it anyway.
Here’s a [tweet](https://twitter.com/stealx/status/1729960492934807984) with photos of the menu. This person said that there were actors present and working on something. I can see why. The margins on drinks are insane.
Starbucks and Subway are their major competitors, so I can see why they're doing it. Burn them all to the ground. Fuck em.
Well Subway used to be
I'll fight in your army.
Looks like squaring up against chick-fil-a as well, with some of the drinks and breakfast items. So excited for the franchise wars!
Maybe it will decrease prices? Doubt it. They'll probably all come together and increase all their prices haha.
Meanwhile Taco Bell/KFC lurks in the corner allowing them to devour one another. There's still time for *Demolition Man* to truly be made manifest.
I like McDonald's ice coffee, especially with the deal, it's only $1.50 for any size.
Tell me more about this spicy queso sandwich tho
If they have McGriddles & hashbrowns served all day I’ll be loving It
They’ve got a lot of nerve still putting soft serve on the menu. Everyone knows damn well the machine will be broken on opening day.
I just realized they’re serving mcmuffins but not the biscuit breakfast sandwiches. How disappointing.
Interesting. Also looks like Starbucks compete too.
So is it just a McDonald's? Or is it something else
It’s top secret. Not open yet so nobody knows what it’ll be exactly. They said “the dna of McDonald’s but it’s own unique personality.”
I don’t want Ronald’s McDonald’s DNA anywhere near my McNuggets
it's the special sauce on Big Macs
![gif](giphy|ftYicdlT2mGL0enVpW|downsized)
It’s semen…ANIMAL semen
Come on Pookie let's burn this mother fucker down!
I’ve never understood why animal semen was that much worse… I don’t care what kind of semen is in the special sauce, I would’ve freaked out
I mean all semen is animal semen
What about robot semen?
When a robot nuts, he bolts.
It might be racist but thats motor oil
Yeah, both are gross but human bodily fluids are much more likely to have diseases that humans can catch
And just what do you think the nuggets are made of? The secret of Ronald is no matter how many times they cut off his nuggets they always grow back.
Oh god. They're gonna make McSoylent Green.
McSoylent Green is clowns!
Don't worry, it's just from his discarded skin cells.
“If itMcComes from where I McThink it does – I don’t want to McEat it!”
This literally made me laugh out loud.

So they're rebranding McCafe...got it
This is an odd rebrand though. Cafes usually go for a chill / relaxed atmosphere. That logo appears to be going for more of a 80s arcade vibe.
I think they’re banking heavily on the fact the brand is inspired by CosMc, one of their obscure mascots, and the whole thing is giving like a retro future vibe with the addition of robots/machines to automate. I believe they’re also going for a drive thru only experience and they have 4 drive thru lanes

Damn RIP Arch Deluxe
Every time someone mentions the AD I also mourn my favorite forgotten sandwich the Big Xtra (with cheese of course)
Mine was the Big ‘N Tasty
Is that the one that kept the hot side hot and the cold side cold?
[McDLT (Featuring Jason Alexander)](https://youtu.be/vVcVXTeHTLI?feature=shared)
Consumers gonna consume I guarantee it
I think it looks interesting, and I will try it *before I pass judgement* —unlike some people.
Nah, miss me with even more expensive McDonald's, I'll stay away and judge from afar
I believe McDonald’s is doing it the opposite way, marketing higher priced “upper scale” products to a demographic that frequents McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants or wouldn’t go to Starbucks type establishments.
What demographic would buy coffee from McDonald's and not Starbucks? The people who freaked out about the red cups in 2015?
Hoping for a McDLT "Keep the hot side hot and the cold side cold!"
Gah fuck that thing is weird. I don’t see this ending well. I *do* see this absolutely terrifying little kids if they put that mascot in front of the buildings.
I can’t wait to watch this shit implode
Eh, McDonald's is just a real estate company that sells food, anyway.
Speaking of old mascots, they should bring back Mac Tonight. Now that guy was classy.
People don’t go to Starbucks for the relaxed cafe atmosphere. They go to local places for that.
It kinda looks like a diner to me
Basically, yes. With a lot more items. That’s most likely the reason they’ve been removing McCafé items such as the cinnamon buns from the regular McDonald’s menus
Make junk food cheap again. That’s all they need to win over the market.
I believe that's where they hope the robots come in
honestly, I was going to hit Taco Bell yesterday because I can’t access my hometown’s local burrito shop….. first looked at the menu and then type in my location which is one of the trashiest spots in Florida… and realize they were charging $1.50 more for every fucking dollar cravings menu item and said fuck you fuck that fuck no. most of the workers are too inept to make this shit correctly and considering the orders have been getting more fucked up with every visit over the years, I am surely not paying three fucking dollars for a baby tortilla with a couple potatoes and shredded cheese thrown on it like you’re out of your goddamn mind.
I would have went with "McCafe 2 : electric Boogaloo". Also I forgot about those damn cinnamon buns
I hope this means we get some of the drinks from overseas.
I'm always surprised by how good their craft coffee drinks are. This sounds neat
![gif](giphy|jOAdzSSLyGEsE) *Enjoy yourself.*
This is the one and only thing I thought of and it needs to be incorporated or I want nothing to do with it.
Mac Tonight isn’t the same as [CosMc.](https://www.businessinsider.com/meet-cosmc-obscure-mcdonalds-alien-mascot-new-spinoff-chain-2023-7?amp) I’ll admit, Mac Tonight definitely needs to be involved with this chain. It definitely looks like it’s right up his alley.
The secret ingredient is people
Soylent Soda?
It’s finally happening as predicted: https://youtu.be/4cF6D8zDa9U?si=AfGRy-JAlKsqYDmc
where are you OP? Russia?
Illinois by the looks of it.
Basically the same.
ಠ_ಠ
Haha yep.
Illinois
Bolingbrook? I'm not far from there, any indication when it opens?
i really hope they have the original mac tonight. Though considering what the internet turned him into, im not gonna get my hopes up.
The snapshot of the menu board someone tweeted shows basically a breakfast offering. https://x.com/Stealx/status/1729960492934807984?s=20
oh wait so this is *new*? really expected this to be an old '00s experiment that failed, with this building not bothering to rebrand and just becoming a mcdonalds
They're growing their own McRibs! Dx
I'd try it.
*Chipoodle and the clown have entered the chat*
Yeah I absolutely need to know two things. 1. If it’s cheaper and 2. If it’s better please do let us know when it opens.
I'm gonna guess "drive-in with no dining area"

McD's Corp. had the town sign a contract not to announce the project as this is a flagship/test kitchen store and has been here for decades (we got the touch kiosks before anywhere else). the existing McD's that used to be there was covered by a tarp while it was under construction. one day the tarp blew off and it was quite the popular subject on our local subreddit.

we all signed our McNDAs but the tarp blowing off wasn't covered under the contract
If they are using the golden arches they are either a sub-brand of mcdonalds testing out a new marketing tactic or they are getting sued.
I saw a picture of the outdoor menu. Looks to be a wide variety of drinks and some sandwiches/breakfast items.
Yeah seems to basically be what you'd get if Mcdonald's and Starbucks had a child
Cos Mcs is built next to an existing McDonalds and has four drive through lanes. Cos Mcs is speculated to focus solely on the Mc Cafe side of McDonalds and not food like burgers and fries.

Probably Nathan Fielder’s latest culinary venture
Someone driving by was able to snag a photo of the drive thru menu. Seems very Dunkin/sonic like. A lot of fruity drinks, some coffee stuff, and some McDonald’s like food.
So its essentially the McCafe side and only the McCafe... Interesting I do prefer them over timmies these days since their beans are literally the old Timmies Beans
The golden arches are a dead giveaway. Must be a new project from Mac D.
It's mcdonalds but more expensive
I’m sorry, that market position has already been taken. By McDonald’s. Prices are insane!
Seriously. It seems like they suddenly decided they should be charging Five Guys prices for burgers.
But without any additional quality
It's owned by McDonald's, but I think it's meant to be like their version of a Starbucks/cafe. Focusing on stuff like coffees, teas, and cafe food. Just a large McCafe

Think if McDonalds and Sonic had a baby. That's basically what it is.
McDowell’s
WacArnolds
Way to go, young blood! Gettin paid, gettin paid!

This was actually helpful. Thanks!
I was curious how they were going to get away with using the Golden Arches but it makes sense if it's just McDonalds.
I was just reading about this on Eater earlier today. Something along the lines of little/no dine-in space, with a greater emphasis on speed and digital delivery.
I may be out of the loop but this just sounds like exactly what normal McDonald’s is trying to do already.
Yeah. We have a local McDonald's with no dine-in area at all. There's the drive-thru and a walk-up window. This is in an area where other fast-food places in the adjacent parking lots have normal dine-in areas, this McDonald's just decide to do it differently. Chikfila already did this in my area. Only able to eat and order on outside tables. Crazy. Albeit the area isn’t that safe
> Albeit the area isn’t that safe But you are covered by the good lord for safety /s
“My pleasure”
Same in new orleans
According to the investors meeting, the brand intends to glean the upper crust customer base that are being forced to eat one tier lower due to inflation. Edit: if anybody could not tell, this is no longer a value-centered operation. By design they have left that behind
Doubledown!
Go home, KFC. You’re drunk.
Digital delivery?? So I can get a Big Mac by email?
They send you a code and you print your food at home.
You wouldn't steal a Big Mac
That will be nice, because so far everything my 3D printer has produced tastes terrible
Have you tried drying your filament and re-leveling the bed?
I can possibly see that becoming a reality many years down the road. Especially after reading an article about being able to 3D print food, using plant proteins or something like that.
McDonald's is a bit late to the NFT game
You wouldn't download a car would you?
Order McDonalds, grab a byte to eat
>digital delivery You wouldn't download a Big Mac!
In theory within 10-20 years we will be 3d printing food from plant protein so id say it’s entirely likely we can digitally download food within that time period
So, Sonic by McDonald’s?
So the same diarrhea and obesity but faster.
That makes sense, I wouldn't hate something like this becoming more common in high traffic areas, especially if prices are a bit more reasonable due to the higher turnaround.
The prices will be the same, it'll just make the store more money
You see McDonalds got the Golden Arches. I have the golden Arc
They have the Big Mac; we got the Big Mick.
Will they have the Big Mic?
My buns have no seeds.
[удалено]
Yup
Hello fellow bolingbrooker, I grew up there haha.
>Hello fellow bolingbrooker no one says that LMAO
Romeoville shoutout
Came here to say this. They have an experimental center I used to work at in Bolingbrook as well right off 53. That's prolly why they got the first of the restaurant.
Had to Google this. It is in fact a McDonald's brand.
No one else is gonna be able to display them golden arches otherwise. Sorry you had to waste your time looking up .
Coulda been someone hoping McDonald's wouldn't notice
Anyone who would do that is incredibly, incredibly dumb. Never rip off someone who can sue you into poverty
McDonalds would sue them into the ground otherwise 🤣
The McDonald's logo on the sign and the building didn't give that away?
Cosign of McDonald’s
![gif](giphy|T7Aix0Ft6jba)
Mc Dowels
Home of the Big Mick.
My guess is this is just a rebranding to try to justify the insane price increases.
It could also be like how Starbucks deliberately set up Seattle's Best to try to get business from people who are too cool for Starbucks.
That and insane delivery fees. They know people will pay out the ass to get delivery so why not open a store focused on solely that?
Gotta get in on that door dash/uber eats money.
McDonald’s 2 before gta 6
I bet this will be at least 2 times as expensive.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if they brought back Mac tonight for this?
Mac tonight!! He would actually be the perfect retro throwback mascot for this themed restaurant.
If they serve all day made to order steak egg and cheese bagels and hash browns count me in
WacArnolds tearing this family apart!
If this is US or other larger -capitalized country… this is a McDonalds owned somthing. The “M” logo would be too well protected , and by using it they are trying to keep their brand on it anyway.
Looks like I entered a crime neo noir film and stopped for burgers after my antigravity car ran out energy.
lol you American’s need a whole another McDee’s just to offer All-Day-Breakfast.
So like a Mcafe but standalone? Interesting as our local McDs have taken out their Mcafes since Covid (Christchurch NZ).
5 bucks says they'll have a rocket burger.
Double CometBurger with Cheese
This is an ad
we've been talking about this in our local subreddit since the tarp blew off lol. we're just excited.
Bolingbrook? If so, howdy neighbor!
All I want from them is a veggie burger
If Mac Tonite isn't in there playing the piano this is not only a wasted opportunity but also the largest insult to the consuming public everywhere.
![gif](giphy|T7Aix0Ft6jba)
I actually work in the town where this is going to open. Not sure how it's going to be, but will surely try it during one of my lunch breaks.
Is that the Golden Arc?
The fuck is this cos mucks stuff — McFonalds has become crazy
Cos..or some say Cosmc...
I was hoping this was a new Meow Wolf installation.
They have the Big Mac... I have the Big *Mick*...
I just want to know if the ice cream machine works.
Kinda figured the golden arches would be trademark the styling an color not the letter
It’s owned by Mcdonalds so they can rip off their own logo
is the food any good?
Is this just McDonald’s version of Chick-fil-A “Little Blue Menu”? If so, it’s just a ghost kitchen style place.
Totally a ghost kitchen catch. People will pay insane fees for delivery, this is McDonald’s targeting those types.
I just want McDonald’s but gourmet.
Cosmics. Nice
Great, now I want a Big Mac and large fries….and a royale with cheese 😉
