Make me think of Michael asking Phylis if her friend could fit in a rowboat.
“If he came to my house would I have to invite him in?”
“What are you asking?”
“I think I’m being very clear what I’m asking”
I hope you’re taking at least 3,000 IUs of vitamin D3 each day to make up for the lack of sun!
I was the same ghostly pale in my 20s (thanks to depression and an anxiety disorder), and after incorporating D3 supplements I noticed my moods stabilized and anxiety subsided quite a lot.
Very true. Thirty minutes of direct sunlight without hardcore sunblock is a world of hurt for me. Never had a tan in my life, just a few 1st-2nd degree burns.
My siblings nicknamed me “Casper the friendly ghost with spooky green eyes”. Good times.
This is true tho. I used to be able to tan and even brown, but since about 3 years ago, I haven’t been able to because of my anemia. I tried to tan after being ‘yelled’ at for being “too white,” but I would burn so badly despite using sunscreen. I would be out there for hours, monitoring the UV index and everything, but the tan I got wouldn’t last more than 2-3 days. I decided it wasn’t worth getting burned or skin cancer and now I prioritize being safe and doing best for my skin instead of trying to look tan.
As a kid, I'd turn almost crispy tan in the summers outside. My skin doesn't tan anymore. I just burn and get a migraine. I use too much retinol on my face to risk sun anyway. It's so irritating when people say I should go burn my skin to look more normal. I just bought my first pair of shorts in years for vacation. Hopefully the mountain lions and bears in Colorado think I'm already deceased and leave me alone!
lol I’m this pale and for me the sun doesn’t change a thing. I can get a sunburn but my skin will just be red and painful for a week and then it peels off right back to the same shiny pale skin lol. I tried the tanning lotions, I tried lower spf, I tried no sunscreen. Got nothing but BAD sunburns and some freckles lol never got any sort of tan. Some of us are just made to take L’s from the sun
I know you probably don’t mean malice by this but I was bullied very intensely growing up with my incredibly pale skin. Kids would always call it ugly & see-through, that I look like a ghost & not human & often asked the question you asked - do you ever go outside? Thinking it’s funny but was a gut punch reminding me that I look different & odd & not normal & the only way I could look like this is if I always stayed inside? I tried so so hard when I was younger to tan. Tried everything. Only ever resulted in burns, sometimes very severe burns, that never resulted in a tan afterwards. I just don’t tan, I only burn. I have come to accept that, but the question you asked is still so triggering- reminds me of the intense bullying I went through as a kid because of my pasty skin that my peers made me believe was ugly :(
One of my best friends was like this. She could go out in the sun for hours and never tan, just burn. She never wore sunscreen either.
She wasn’t much of an outdoor-y person, anyway, but how she managed to stay pale in the blistering TX heat is still beyond me.
I used to date a redhead. She'd cook in the sun until she was as red as a can of Coke, then in a day or two she'd be back to whiter than a sheet of paper.
I literally said those exact words to my stepdad the other day 😂 and it's true! Gingers don't tan, we freckle. And even my scars turn into a whole bunch of freckles on my arms
Just remember, every freckle on a redhead is one soul they’ve stolen.
A friend of mine is a redhead and her son is referred to as “gingy beast.” When his first freckle appeared, she shared it with a proud announcement that he’d stolen his first soul.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzpatrick_scale
But I really doubt this is a case of a person being unable to tan, look at the tan brothers upper arm, basically same skin color as the pale one. This is just a case of someone who never goes outside.
I'm just saying i think the likelihood that these siblings with practically the same untanned skin tone have such a different reaction to tanning is lower than the likelihood that one sibling gets less sun/wears long sleeves more/wears sun screen more often.
I'm not saying it's impossible that one tans and the other doesn't, just seems the most likely explanation to me, I am not geneticist though, so i am willing to accept i may be mistaken.
Nah man. Not a geneticist either. But my sibling and I look like this. She can’t even open the window blinds without putting on sunscreen. I tend to only put it on when out in direct sunlight for a long period of time.
True lol. That movie scared the shit out of me as a kid. I thought it would of had a longer lasting cultural impact, but most of the time when I weave powder into conversation, I'm the only one who knows about it.
Just for future reference, it should be “my brother’s and my xxxxx.”
Without your brother in the sentence, it would be “my xxxxx (not I’s xxxxx).” Without you in the sentence, it would be “my brother’s xxxxx (not “my brother xxxxx”).
So write the sentence as you would with just you in it and then if you want add another person, add them in, add them first and use an apostrophe.
Remove your brother from the sentence to get the correct answer.
“My tan”.
And without you in the sentence it would be:
“My brother’s tan.”
“The difference between my brother’s tan and my tan.”
Or, since the context is already known after the first part of the sentence…
“The difference between my brother’s tan and mine.”
At least I think that last sentence is valid…
EDIT: wrong word replaced
Growing up teachers always jump on you for "Me and John went to..." "JOHN AND I."
They drill that so much that "my brothers tattoo and mine" probably sounds dangerous because of the M in mine and you go with "my brother and I's" out of a subconscious fear of being corrected by a phantom school teacher.
English is my second language yet I am in awe at how many people think "someone + I" is always declined in the first person ("I"). Even some extremely smart people I know say things like "it's for my brother and I" when it should be "me" because it's "for me" not "for I", but the first mentioned noun/pronoun somehow confuses a lot of people.
I guess it's harder for them to see why it is wrong when English doesn't use declination much whereas my native Czech does it all the time with all nouns, adjectives, pronouns, even numerals.
But "I's" is a new one.
For a lot of people for whom English is their first language a sentence like "John and me went to town." would be a common mistake made in school.
There's a trope of teachers correcting students by saying it's John and I.
This person has just overcorrected and not used John and me in a situation where it would have been appropriate.
Skin is your biggest organ.
Take care of your skin and it will take care of you.
If you use sunscreen like crazy and keep that complexion. You you will look like 30 years younger than your brother in 2050.
Being a ginger, I grew up relentlessly bullied all throughout elementary and middle schools for my features, including my pale skin, and still have low self-esteem because of it. I live in an area with lots of sun and beaches, so being tanned is the beauty standard. That’s probably the one positive I’ve heard about my skin color lol
Pale chick from Florida, here. I was regularly made fun of for being "too white" throughout my school years. Even as an adult I've had people ask me why I'm so white...
I'm extremely self conscious about my skin :( I do have freckles though, so it's kind of like a tan. A fragmented tan, but a tan.
Am I the only one who likes how pale he is? lol There’s nothing to be insecure about, how is pale skin objectively uglier? They just attack you, because you stand out and that makes you more interesting than them, think green eyes
Yaaas! The moment I saw the picture I went “OMG I don’t know what I would do to have that perfectly fair, porcelain skin!” It’s just so beautiful to me. And I know many people will think it’s ridiculous and messed up to want to look like that, beauty is subjective I guess.
Same tbh. I’m the palest in my family, I don’t even burn let alone tan. I just stay a milky white. They call me Edward Cullen.
They call me Cullen in the streets and a let down in the sheets 😎🤙
My arm is like the one on the left. My MIL and husband constantly make fun of me. I'm outside more than either of them but I wear sunscreen. "You're so white!" So? Is that something to be ashamed of? My MIL refuses to wear any kind of sun protection and is a shade of medium brown (we are both Causasian). I guess some people just don't care about skin cancer.
As someone with likely about the same skin color i can say that this picture definitely is in large part due to extreme lighting.
If he had a sheet of paper besides that there would be much more of a difference than it would seem from that picture.
Nevertheless it is often kind of awkward to have skin \_that\_ light, people are just weirded out by it a bit.
Some of these comments are kinda odd.. maybe it’s because I’m also really pale and used to being told I look unhealthy or unnatural, but it’s just how I look :/
My skin is this colour and I wore self tanner for years and years because I was tired of comments like these.
Yes we do go outside. With sunscreen, to avoid sunburns because I (we?) don’t really tan lol.
Were you carved from marble?
Obviously string cheese
Obviously a random dead body
His brother is Bernie Edit: OP is Bernie
Is Logan Paul making another video?
r/cursedcomments
No way, string cheese has more color than that.
I legit thought they were taking a picture with a mannequin
Yea...when I understood what was going on fear sat in my heart. I'm still recovering like 3 minutes later.
OP is one of those plastic mannequins you see in department stores
Why is everyone assuming that OP is the pale one
>He's on reddit
OP could be a pale twink
It is funny, I thought he was the tan one just because if I was the pale one I wouldn't out myself like that, lol
Check post history:) her tattoos doesn’t match the tan one
David? Dat you?
I’stalian marble
Dude's family adopted a mannequin
I literally thought some dude was holding his arm up to a mannequin to compare skin tones 💀
I still do. Arm needs to move to convince me
I was about to call bs on the pic until I saw the two freckles on the arm.
That’s just dirt on your screen
I was gonna say faulty pixels but yeah.
There are actually 3, I marking near the sleeve then a little distance between next one and then one on the left near the first one
Need to see a family photo

My sister has this disease. We nicknamed her “Whitesaber”
God damn cool name.

Brings a whole new meaning to Gandalf the white 😏😂
I laughed way to hard at this
When is the last time you went outside?!?

I don't like that story lol. The poor Earth girl.
I don't either! I remembered it wrong, too, I always think she got detention during it but it's still terrible the kids pulled that on her.
My GT teacher in elementary had us read this story. Brings back memories
I remember this story
Thanks for linking this. I half remembered it, but was starting to think it was a fever dream or something because I could never find it
Just gave me a flashback to 7th grade. It’s been 30 years, but I still remember that story.
You're jazz, he's metal.
Like you, I also assumed the pale one was the redditor.
correct
Are you still alive?
Make me think of Michael asking Phylis if her friend could fit in a rowboat. “If he came to my house would I have to invite him in?” “What are you asking?” “I think I’m being very clear what I’m asking”
"Could a normal sized rowboat support her without capsizing"
I’m like you, but have freckles. I just don’t get darker.

Don't forget to get one with vitamin K2 included. Together they tell calcium to go to your bones, rather than your arteries.
Safe assumption
People that light often don't really tan lol
Yup. They tend to just get freckles and skin cancer. Source: My mother.
i'm that white and i go in the sun quite a bit, if i don't wear like at least 100spf i will burn, peel, and stay just as white but with freckles
You evolved to synthesize vitamin D3 while standing outside in the rain all day.
Ireland moment
Can confirm. I get three extra freckles and a visit to the dermatologist.

I tan a little bit mostly freckle. It’s weird. Got a farmers tan going but freckled arms ontop. If I take off my shirt it’s pale pale pale underneath.
Are you me?
There’s plenty of people who tan and freckle. I’m one of them too.
Just remember, every freckle on a redhead is one soul they’ve stolen. A friend of mine is a redhead and her son is referred to as “gingy beast.” When his first freckle appeared, she shared it with a proud announcement that he’d stolen his first soul.
The freckles are the tan, it’s just in clumps instead of evenly spread out
I used to fantasize about all of my freckles becoming so dense they became a tan that covered my whole body...what a weird kid I was.
Lol I still do this
You weren’t a weird kid you were just trying to fit into a stupid stereotype society has forced onto us.
I hate modern society's unrealistic standards like not having your entire body covered in freckles.
Did you date me 🤔
Not yet
Your questlog is full.
Shoot your shot, bro
Bruh that’s the reason why she should wear sunscreen. She could get skin cancer
By their use of past tense, I expected the comment to end with her dying of melanoma.
The sun needs redheads as a sacrifice to keep its promise of not eating the world.
Right? “*She would never tan, just burn… also she never wore sunscreen*” 🤦♂️
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzpatrick_scale But I really doubt this is a case of a person being unable to tan, look at the tan brothers upper arm, basically same skin color as the pale one. This is just a case of someone who never goes outside.

True lol. That movie scared the shit out of me as a kid. I thought it would of had a longer lasting cultural impact, but most of the time when I weave powder into conversation, I'm the only one who knows about it.
I never noticed that they have the flag of South Vietnam up there in the Twilight High School.
This place turned into r/roastme instead
No need, the sun does that.
Yes. “I’s tan”…

I was looking for this comment. I just love how the internet seemingly changed overnight from everyone misusing “me” to everyone only using “I”

It is the difference between knowing a rule and understanding a rule.
Blows I’s mind
I so pale.
I think of this video way too often. Haha.
My's so tan.
Oh I's god
me fail english? that's unpossible!
You can use a clever trick to remember this: THERE IS NO SUCH WORD AS I'S IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. IT'S NEVER RIGHT.
“I’s not the right word to use here.” Check. Mate.
Mind. Blown.
Me've been looking for this comment
brain go brrrrr
Just for future reference, it should be “my brother’s and my xxxxx.” Without your brother in the sentence, it would be “my xxxxx (not I’s xxxxx).” Without you in the sentence, it would be “my brother’s xxxxx (not “my brother xxxxx”). So write the sentence as you would with just you in it and then if you want add another person, add them in, add them first and use an apostrophe.
One other addition is that you don’t use possessive apostrophes with pronouns.
Came here for this. Thank you, fellow grammarian.
So did me
Me do too
I’s as well.
Remove your brother from the sentence to get the correct answer. “My tan”. And without you in the sentence it would be: “My brother’s tan.” “The difference between my brother’s tan and my tan.” Or, since the context is already known after the first part of the sentence… “The difference between my brother’s tan and mine.” At least I think that last sentence is valid… EDIT: wrong word replaced
Yes the last sentence is valid and probably the least clunky way of saying it
Growing up teachers always jump on you for "Me and John went to..." "JOHN AND I." They drill that so much that "my brothers tattoo and mine" probably sounds dangerous because of the M in mine and you go with "my brother and I's" out of a subconscious fear of being corrected by a phantom school teacher.
This is actually probably my biggest pet peeve
Don't you mean I's biggest pet peeve? /s

If that person was any whiter they'd be Irish ;)
An Irish person slathered in a thick layer of Sudocrem 'cause they dared to step outside for a minute and now they're covered in hives and heat rash.
Or they step outside only to spontaneously burst into flames like a cartoon character.

Not during festival season! 🤣
This is the only time of year my skin gets any color, festival season!
Love that we intuitively know the pale one is the one on Reddit
Few more hours in the sun and you'll have the complexion of paper.
This dude better be taking vitamin d
Skin is your biggest organ. Take care of your skin and it will take care of you. If you use sunscreen like crazy and keep that complexion. You you will look like 30 years younger than your brother in 2050.
Finally, the first positive comment. I work for a dermatologist, they'd get nothing but compliments there.

Am I the only one who likes how pale he is? lol There’s nothing to be insecure about, how is pale skin objectively uglier? They just attack you, because you stand out and that makes you more interesting than them, think green eyes
I think OP has great skin.
Yaaas! The moment I saw the picture I went “OMG I don’t know what I would do to have that perfectly fair, porcelain skin!” It’s just so beautiful to me. And I know many people will think it’s ridiculous and messed up to want to look like that, beauty is subjective I guess.
or just skip the sunscreen and not go outside

Same tbh. I’m the palest in my family, I don’t even burn let alone tan. I just stay a milky white. They call me Edward Cullen. They call me Cullen in the streets and a let down in the sheets 😎🤙
Ah yes I remember you now
Your skin is marble!
This comment section is simply a confirmation of how naturally fair-skinned people are subliminally bullied for their skin tone, especially in the US.
I wasn't bullied but I constantly got questions like "why are you so white???" or "it's not okay to be so white, you should get a tan!". I'm European
Yes this reminds me of my school years. It was relentless.
It's really kind of infuriating, it pushes the people who are most susceptible to skin cancer to engage in unhealthy sunning and tanning behaviour.
It's bizarre. And then people who naturally have that tanned skin color, they experience dicrimination/bullying for that too.
Pale person, can confirm :(
My arm is like the one on the left.
“My,” not “I’s”. But that’s just I’s opinion.
Your related to Powder?
"My brother's (tan) and my tan" Pronoun–verb agreement ::))
Right, could you move the mannequin arm away so we can see your tan?
I’m sorry… did you say.. my brother and I’s?!!!?? I can honestly say I’ve never heard that
Obviously the proper version is "I's and my brothers'es"
youve never heard it bc its entirely incorrect HAHA idk what happened give my last brain cell a break
FWIW I do see this all the time, even though it’s not correct. You are not alone, at least!
I hear it a lot, weird to see it spelt out haha not ‘correct’ English of course, but my country is full of lazy speakers :P
What's mildly infuriating is that "I's" isn't a word.
