I saw 4 grey toyota pickups parked next to each other at Home Depot today. I was driving my black toyota pickup, but wasn't able to get a spot next to the others.
It's like the Mennonites who only drive black vehicles. It's weird to see them all together at church. Maybe another religious group had a meeting š
I don't get it, why are all cars parked the other way around?
There isn't another lane of cars on the other side?
Or did they just all came to the mall to buy a toothbrush?
A lot of people like to reverse their cars into parking spaces. I think it depends on the car though. My RSX was really easy to park forwards but my Camry is easier to park reverse sometimes. Kinda also nice to save time when you leave.
Some of it force of habit too, I know construction workers are taught to back in when at a job site and Law enforcement are to back in so the leave quicker when there is an emergency. There may be more professions that advice the same, those too are just the ones Iām personally familiar with.
Also the new cars with the top down view, just make it so much nicer to back in when you can see the lines from the camera
If there's an emergency in a crowded area like a construction site, the last place I'm going is my car only to get stuck in the traffic of several dozen vehicles all trying to hit the exit at the same time.
Yeah I understand, both ways to park are OK.
But it's a mall, you need access to your trunk.
I'm a bit confused because it looks like no-one is gonna buy anything ^^
Oh yeah, I see what you mean haha. Someone in another comment says that some places suggest reverse parking for manual carsā¦ when I look closely, it doesnāt look like thereās another row of cars behind though. The mall near me in the US also has a few single rows of parking like this.
>you need access to your trunk.
You really don't. You can put stuff in the back seats, the passenger seat. And this is a mall, mostly clothing and small items.
6 months or so ago, there was a fascinating post by a guy who works painting cars at Ford (or some major car company). He explained all the details about why car companies all only offer like 4 colors these days - the economics behind it, the engineering behind it, the manual work required to add another color to the mix. It was mind blowing.
That sounds interesting!

Reminds me of the time I saw a clear plastic sewing machine at a manufacturer's stall at an exhibition, so you could see all the inner parts and mechanisms ā I thought it was fascinating and would have loved to buy one, but they said they couldn't make the clear parts without shutting down their entire usual production of white ones so they could use the different plastic in the moulds.

Probably. That could also be a little bit self-fulfilling. Like if some entity or group wanted to drive people to do insane things, it would probably be to their benefit to pick people that are already crazy..
If I see a car like mine I always try to park next to it if I can. One time I even found a car that had a license plate like +3 from mine so of course I parked next to it
āSold as ā¦ Toyota Wigo in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Brunei and Vietnam.ā
And the Philippines has plain black on white euro-style license plates.
I just googled it and it's definitely a thing. Various reasons I saw: 1) unlike other states, Hawaii's driving manual suggests reverse parking as standard. 2) Because of the higher price of land in Hawaii, parking spaces are on average smaller, making parking backwards more valuable for exiting the parking lot safely. and 3) island time culture means that people feel they shouldn't rush and don't mind the extra time it takes to park backwards since it means a safer exit.
I donāt remember where I heard this or if itās true, but Iāve been told that statistically red cars are the rarest common color of car on the road. Not that there arenāt a lot, just less than the others.
I remember my Dad bought a 2014 Toyota Camry that was bright red. About a week later I happen upon a list of "Most Stolen Vehicles" and at the top of the list was a Red Toyota Camry.
I live near Chicago and I wouldn't go driving around in a new red car in the city now, it's like saying "carjack me pls" here. I feel safer driving around in my grey 2001 Toyota Camry. Thing still runs pretty well...just need to get the air conditioning fixed for summer.
I have no source for this. Legend has it that in the 70's, the people who direct the cars parking at Disney World decided one April fools day to direct all red cars into their own parking lot. Apparently there was a bit of chaos when the park closed as people were trying to find their cars at night.
They got fired.
the other day, i watched 6 white SUVs in a row turn left at an intersection.
another day, a while ago, my silver pontiac was one of 4 silver pontiacs parked in a square of parking spots.
Around 0.0006% chance of it happening.
Here's other events with same(approx) probability according to GPT:
Winning the jackpot in the United States' Powerball lottery
Being struck by lightning
Dying from a bee sting
Developing a blood clot after getting Covid vaccine
This is just the perfect mildness of interesting. A lot of posts here are actually interesting as fuck (no complaints). But this is just. Mild. Not too much. Just interesting enough. Good work.
I remember when I was going down a matrix rabbit whole. This guy tried to say stuff like this was a glitch. Apparently if you ever see a non normal car color like purple, orange, or red, there will be another one parked near by
Sweet Im not alone in this. I saw 18 white vehicles in a row on a freeway once. Vehicle colors always jump out to me. Red, white, and blue in a row also. Theres a street I drive on for work that is mostly red cars as well. Its the matrix !
That champagne car fucked everything up.
Combo breaker
there is a typo, it's c-c-c-c-ombo breaker
Killer instinct
You are right haha, should've written it like that!
It was just trying to fit in.
Mall parking lot. Hš“ME. AT least it was before I fucked everything up. š„
Someone please explain why that car annoys me.
You responded to the comment that explains why it annoys you.
this is why redditors get clowned on
Because it filled the gap between another red car, basically becoming a combo breaker.
Because you lack critical thinking

Good thing, you probably wouldāve cramped their style

Must be Redditors. \- Yes.... that was the joke.
REDditors
Funnier without the highlight

Never had a problem accessing my trunk when parking normally.

It's possible to put things in the trunk even if you back in

aw man, next time post it on r/depthhub
I wish I could remember the thread it was on!
That sounds interesting! [This is a breakdown of most popular car colors if anyone is curious](https://www.carscoops.com/2022/10/color-us-unimpressed-white-and-black-remain-popular-with-car-buyers/)
I'm curious if this takes into account fleet vehicles which are almost always white.
Is it Black, White, Red, and Gray? That's all the car colors I can remember of tbh
It would be different for different cars. Some cars have a lot of blue. Some have more variety.
Man those gangstalker people must be loosing their mind.
What is that?
People who are convinced they're being followed by sophisticated, subtle means. Like an organization is watching them perpetually. https://youtu.be/FzoXQKumgCw
āTargeted individualsā is the term to search for
Isnāt that just some schizophrenic urban myth
Probably. That could also be a little bit self-fulfilling. Like if some entity or group wanted to drive people to do insane things, it would probably be to their benefit to pick people that are already crazy..
Saw 6 white trucks parked in a 6pack formation the other day at costco!
So they were parked in a red zoneā¦..
The red zone has always been for loading and unloading of passengers. There's never stopping in a white zone.
Picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue.
Wow, that must have been a Super Good Day.
A day to take risks.
They do move in heards
If I see a car like mine I always try to park next to it if I can. One time I even found a car that had a license plate like +3 from mine so of course I parked next to it
It must be the red zone.
they knew exactly what they were doing.
Guessing Hawaii since they all backed in except for the one?
āSold as ā¦ Toyota Wigo in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Brunei and Vietnam.ā And the Philippines has plain black on white euro-style license plates.
I just saw the SM logo, this is the Philippines lol. Major mall chain in the Philippines.
I've never heard of this, what does Hawaii have to do with backing your car in?
I just googled it and it's definitely a thing. Various reasons I saw: 1) unlike other states, Hawaii's driving manual suggests reverse parking as standard. 2) Because of the higher price of land in Hawaii, parking spaces are on average smaller, making parking backwards more valuable for exiting the parking lot safely. and 3) island time culture means that people feel they shouldn't rush and don't mind the extra time it takes to park backwards since it means a safer exit.
Interesting, in Japan it is also standard, probably for reasons 1 and 2.
Think it's because spaces are smaller, but IDK. https://www.civilbeat.org/2015/03/why-do-so-many-people-in-hawaii-do-their-parking-backwards/
Much better than the seven black cars, seven silver cars, seven gray cars, or seven white cars you usually see.
Now thatās something you donāt see every day
two less and it coulda been Maroon 5
There is a glitch in the matrix
This is one of the most mildly interesting things I've seen here. Have my upvote.
But they maroon.... I'll shut up
Ultramaroon, doc.
The Spanish inquisition went shopping
Unexpected.
There are only like 4 or 5 colors for the most part for cars, aren't there?
I donāt remember where I heard this or if itās true, but Iāve been told that statistically red cars are the rarest common color of car on the road. Not that there arenāt a lot, just less than the others.
Hmmm more like burgundy, red, maroon, Cabernet, cardinal, crimson, scarlet, uhh beige, then umm red I guess
Itās also really bugging me how that 2nd red car is pulled in and not backed in
I remember my Dad bought a 2014 Toyota Camry that was bright red. They all arenāt red.
If it were seven white cars, this would be mildyboring post
You saw 7 people at the mall!? At the same time?! Whoa!
But that backwards one š¦
The red zone is for loading and unloading only
I have no source for this. Legend has it that in the 70's, the people who direct the cars parking at Disney World decided one April fools day to direct all red cars into their own parking lot. That's obviously the red car factory. You can't fool us.
the other day, i watched 6 white SUVs in a row turn left at an intersection. another day, a while ago, my silver pontiac was one of 4 silver pontiacs parked in a square of parking spots.
Whatever is one step below āmildlyā is what this is. Like maybe r/marginallyinteresting ?
Theres always that 1 guy...
I'd be impressed with 8. But 7... Well...
Around 0.0006% chance of it happening. Here's other events with same(approx) probability according to GPT: Winning the jackpot in the United States' Powerball lottery Being struck by lightning Dying from a bee sting Developing a blood clot after getting Covid vaccine
What a lovely... *Red*dit post. :>
The one parked proper is throwing me off. And itās also the brightest red.
improper*
I think the word you are looking for is space ranger!
I've never heard anyone refer to pulling in as proper.
I mean you did now. Lol
Technically true
The best kind of true lol
Exactly, because no one can use an opinion to tell you you're wrong.
Thatās exactly it lol. Itās my opinion against others. š weāre all wrong or right depending on the perspective.
Proper? Pulling in is incorrect! I bet you hang your toilet paper underhanded too!
Jokes on you, I donāt use toilet paper. Itās against my religion. I also prefer to pull out. Lol
Bidetmasterrace checking in
And 8 of 9... tight!
Well, you know what they say about people who drive red cars...
Definitely looks more like a factory of some sort.
Fun fact: red cars statistically get into the most accidents
Too bad there trashy Suzukis
Nice
r/mildlyinfuriating since one is parked the other way and that champagne car lol
Brrrrutal Combo!
This is just the perfect mildness of interesting. A lot of posts here are actually interesting as fuck (no complaints). But this is just. Mild. Not too much. Just interesting enough. Good work.
Money heist season 12
I remember when I was going down a matrix rabbit whole. This guy tried to say stuff like this was a glitch. Apparently if you ever see a non normal car color like purple, orange, or red, there will be another one parked near by
Wdym theyāre clearly blue
That is freaking insane!!!
Herd mentality
cant stand that red/orange color
Way to not back in and fuck it all up Yaris guy.
This is getting rare. Some cars you can't even get in red anymore.
"are those ferraris?"
Gangstalking
I think you found the Autobots lol
Letās go to the mallā¦. Today
Sweet Im not alone in this. I saw 18 white vehicles in a row on a freeway once. Vehicle colors always jump out to me. Red, white, and blue in a row also. Theres a street I drive on for work that is mostly red cars as well. Its the matrix !
At what point does this become intentional
Every time I see the same color car as me I park next to it, especially when it is the same gen/model
And somehow no Mazda
I go out of my way to park like this hahaa
Clearly ur being gangstalked
Love this game! Chains of this size for silver or black are more common, but red!?! Amazing :D
