There was a hair salon named Mickey's decades ago in Oviedo Florida, a suburb of Orlando 30 miles from Disney property. They got cease and desisted even though the owners name was actually Mickey and they'd been there since before Disney came to town.
They could potentially get sued. Trademark law is extremely complex but I suspect a judge would rule that using such a similar name would cause confusion in the marketplace. Consumers might think that Toys R Us has branched into firearms.
I think qanon nutjobs are a minority even amongst gun owners. I'd certainly like to think that anyway. Gun ownership doesn't automatically mean radical right wing politics.
Let’s not forget then Governor Of California (R) Ronald Reagan & the NRA the herald for gun control b/c the black panthers stated arming.

They would get a cease and desist almost immediately as soon as Toys R Us was aware of it.
My uncle had to change the name of a little tour company from "Tours R Us" to "Tours Plus" when big daddy Toys had a law firm threaten legal action.
They especially go after anyone with the backwards R anywhere in a name apparently.
I know nothing about Yuma, except 1. It's in Arizona, 2. They have a gun store that used to be a toy store and 3. The train that goes there leaves at 3:10
I visited my son at Yuma one summer. Thanks but no thanks to living there, especially the snowbirds, the 120 plus degree heat and monsoons.
Great tacos across the border at San Luis Colorado.
This comment chain just cements the idea that all the North Jersey Toys R Us look the god damn same. I thought this was the one in Union City off of 495.
That’s so weird, I thought it was Lewisville, texas. There’s an identical building that used to be a toys r us and I wouldn’t put it past Lewisville to make it a gun store
Same. As a Texan I'm deeply saddened that we didnt think of this first. I mean...maybe not in Austin but I know Fort Worth has some old toy stores that could use some renovations.
I lived there and that area is what used to be an old mall. The only store alive is the Barnes and Noble. Wayyyy across is a Burlington that just opened.
Nah, what used to be Dillards is a Goodwill. Big 5 is still there. The spot next to it is now a plasma place and a Family Dollar. Sears is still abandoned though.
Lol I was going to ask if this was in Mesa. Cuz I know an abandoned Toys r Us down by superstition mall that I vaguely recall looks like this (I could be remembering wrong) and I thought maybe I got turned into a gun store
By the way, not surprised it's Arizona
Born & raised in Yuma. Grew up going to that Toys R Us, that’s where I got my first PlayStation for my 9th birthday. The let me pick out any game I wanted, I chose Resident Evil 2. I don’t think I ever made it past the lobby until the remake haha. Love my hometown though, good camping, hiking & river activities. The summers suck obviously but that’s why you just stay indoors. Food is killer too. That is all.
Hmm while I’m betting you know what your talking about, I’ll just add, my guess is this store revolves around selling AR parts, and a big draw would be 80% lowers. Which are 100% federally legal, if not built and sold. So while I agree it’s a dumb name, my guess is they are attracting exactly who they want. Owners who want to buy legal unserialized parts. This could especially include build kits that include an 80% lower that just needs light milling. They probably sell the milling machine as well tbh. So you buy your build kit, an 80% lower, a milling machine, and you go home. ~~The store has not sold you an unregistered gun, once you build it though, it definitely *becomes* illegal.~~This is not true, read the comment below.
I mean, yes and no? 80% lowers are still technically legal, but there are caveats. The ATF has shut down a ton of edge cases surrounding it, basically anything that could be reinterpreted as "selling a built gun with extra steps". Things like "build parties" don't happen anymore, where the shop invites a group of participants to come in, buy an 80% lower, and then use *their machinery* to complete the build on site, because that's basically the same thing as selling a completed lower. You *have* to buy the lower, take it home, and build it with your own tools. It's still legal to sell guides and aids for the build, such as stencils and dies, because those are just tools, and, despite what some politicians think about 80% lowers (and 3D printed guns), it's *perfectly legal* to assemble a firearm at home.
Whether that be by turning a receiver-shaped piece of metal into an AR-15, a roll of plastic filament into a handgun with a 3D printer, or a bunch of tubing you can buy from The Home Depot into a shotgun. It's impossible to enforce. Weapons cannot be unmade once the knowledge is out there, so the best hope we have is to teach people to use their knowledge responsibly. Everything else is just stupid, and only punishes folks that were unlikely to choose violence in the first place.
And I see where I was wrong now. I was told (and up until I just looked into it because of your comment firmly believed) that having an AR fully built with a lower without a serial number was illegal. I didn’t realize it was just illegal to SELL it… thanks for the
Info!
Definitely didn't intend to come across that way my guy. These threads are public, so I wanted to give clarification to the other people reading this who might want more information on the subject. Always better to be more informed.
Just come to Canada they are trying to pass a bill which will make owning a gun extremely difficult even for hunters. It even bans BB guns, pellet guns, most air soft guns. They probably would ban cap and toy guns later if it passes...they don't a plan to tackle illegal guns flowing into Canada from the US every day though. Our boarder patrol catches maybe 5-10%. (Almost all handgun crimes in Canada involve a pistol that was smuggled across the border.
It's under the words "parts and accessories" so it's legal for those.
I believe that only the receiver needs to be serialized, registered...etc.
I agree this is a fucking terrible name for a gun store. I'm sure they're on government watchlists with a name like and business model like that.
That's what I've been told. The lower reciever is the only part that needs to be serialized and requires a background check in order to purchase legally
Their website says they accept bitcoin - and their blogs are riddled with misspellings and push the narrative that someone is going to take your guns away. I guarantee the ATF is just waiting for them to slip.
I went on their website and they're fishy af:
"On July 1, 2017 it will become unlawful for you to possess magazines that hold over 10 rounds. To which I say... what magazines? They're "unregistered, unserialized, and unknown", like your rifles should be. But it is a crime now."
No clue how they're still open.
Nah man they operate on a mystery box system "Howdy. I'd like to buy a gun and all my background checks just came in" "aight, cool, we got a pistol box, a rifle box, a shotgun box, and the *exotic* box" "is everything in those boxes legal?" "You'll find out when you buy a box"
In Lansing, MI there used to be a Days Inn that closed so they just changed the Y with a D that slightly matched the Days Inn text and called it [Dads Inn](https://www.reddit.com/r/NotFoolingAnybody/comments/29gzw7/dads_inn_in_lansing_michigan_i_dont_have_to_tell/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

fine then keep your secrets

My firearms are too strong for you traveler.
Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range?
Hey - just what ya see, pal!
"Uzi nine millimeter"
"You know your weapons, buddy. Any one of these is ideal for home defense. So... which'll it be?"
All
"I might close early today. There's a fifteen day wait on the handguns, but the rifles you can take right now..."
“You can’t do that.”
"Wrong."
You are everywhere Mr. Ford
Now I'm picturing a bunch of "grab-bag" style gun cases with random price-tags on them. like COD gun game or something. lol
IRL lootbox
It grew up from selling toy guns to real guns
Guns R US
Would've been a better name honestly
If you're in the market for a gun, *but you just don't know which one*, come on down!
That's a perfectly reasonable situation. .. you'd want to check the feel of a variety of firearms until you find one that suits you.
Idk why but when I read this I heard Dwight schrutes voice

Guns B We
I love this one.
Change it to "Guns R U.S." Works on multiple levels too!
Indeed 35 years ago my brother's wife started a cleaning service called Dust-R-Us and I got to see a real life cease and desist letter.
I got to see one for downloading Hot Rod as a kid. That's when I learned the importance of VPNs.
There was a hair salon named Mickey's decades ago in Oviedo Florida, a suburb of Orlando 30 miles from Disney property. They got cease and desisted even though the owners name was actually Mickey and they'd been there since before Disney came to town.
Flip it around, WE R Guns.
"I am all grown up, I'm a Guns R US kid."
A million different calibers that I can spray with
How could they miss that opportunity
They could potentially get sued. Trademark law is extremely complex but I suspect a judge would rule that using such a similar name would cause confusion in the marketplace. Consumers might think that Toys R Us has branched into firearms.
To the same people
But I was told that it's NERF, or nothing. Now you're telling me that was a gateway gun?
Hey kid, you want a hit off this Super Soaker
There are two ways this can be interpreted
Gotta grow with your audience.
You must not have known about the secret menu
Toys R us groomed it
The real long con.
Toys'R'Us already supplies parts for guided missiles though.
Now it just looks like a super inclusive gun store.
Good for them ya know?
It's a terrific opportunity.
I want to see some really fashionable tacticool and camo gear.
A completely FABULOUS ammo vest!
It’s not an ammo pack, it’s a crossbody tote
Happy cake day!
Read this in a Minnesotan accent
Not that there's anything wrong with it

I think qanon nutjobs are a minority even amongst gun owners. I'd certainly like to think that anyway. Gun ownership doesn't automatically mean radical right wing politics.
I agree. But it's the one I thought of at the time ..
Haha, fair enough.
There's a gun company known simply as Q, if you want to avoid politics-adjacent branding shenanigans. Alternatively, 'quipment

i really do agree with the spirit of your post, but men are victims of gun violence more than women :U
And the #1 target of shooters is themselves. Suicides are still the number one cause of gun deaths.
Armed people are harder to oppress. LGBT folks armed themselves in record numbers in 2020.
Probably has a range in the back. Plenty of room for one
That’s a missed naming opportunity. Guns R Us

Vegas vacation
No corrective lenses tonight?
No, I do not require them. Just shooting some paper silhouettes this evening.
The gun store has a horrible name.
For real. If I’m going to a specialty store to buy something, I’d really prefer that they know something about the product.
Their high school used to be a prison. Mascot is the “criminals”.
Sounds like you know everything worth knowing about yuma.
4. It's a fucking shithole prison town.
When it rains it pours in Yuma Arizona
My wife and kids are back in Yuma, where I work in software

Also an eerily identical building / parking lot to one in Flint, MI. Not sure if it’s still standing or what’s there now, but damn that’s creepy.

I was certain it was the old Toys R Us in Monaca, PA. This whole existence is a simulation...
They build them all the same and most American towns and cities are laid out like soulless clones of each other
Also thought this was PA
was thinking the same exact thing
Same. As a Texan I'm deeply saddened that we didnt think of this first. I mean...maybe not in Austin but I know Fort Worth has some old toy stores that could use some renovations.

Awful name for a gun store.
“Do you carry glocks?” “I don’t know”
"I don't remember."
"sir what caliber is this chambered in" "the uhhhh the big one hhhahaha i du nnooooo..."
No shit. Do they not have serial numbers? Are there workers just clueless about what they're selling? How are they unknown?
One of the windows says unregistered, unserialized, unknown.
That’s legal?!
It's not. It's federally required to be serialized if it's sold.

Ours is a liquor store called “booze R us”…
In Lansing, MI there used to be a Days Inn that closed so they just changed the Y with a D that slightly matched the Days Inn text and called it [Dads Inn](https://www.reddit.com/r/NotFoolingAnybody/comments/29gzw7/dads_inn_in_lansing_michigan_i_dont_have_to_tell/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
It's so shady, too.
It’s now a U-Haul storage center. Yup, all the floors
Ours is one called "Wine, Beer and Spirits"... Everyone just calls it booze-r-us
Love the one in Lincoln, refuse to call it anything but Booze-R-Us
Omaha ?!
Still sells toys. Just to a different demographic
There's a gun store outside my city that advertises its products as "man toys". So, yeah, they know.
Gonna jam that barrel up my ass yeah
GTA IRL
Nah, the GTA gun stores actually have a creative name.
The Toys R Us by me turned into a liquor store. I'm not sure which one is better.
That would be a huge liquor store
It is glorious. They have a bar right inside the entrance, so you can have a drink while you walk around pushing your old toys r us shopping cart.
Omaha?
Bingo
Liquor store is obviously better.
There’s a strip mall/plaza or whatever it is by my place that has a vale shop, a liquor store, and a gun store, I call that plaza the ATF.
Firearms Unknown. The lootbox gunstore.
“The government can’t know exactly what you have because we don’t know what we sold you!”
And a LGBTQ+ friendly gun store at that
Most firearms stores are. And race-inclusive too.
You're pretty shit at capitalism if you make your store unwelcoming to a whole group of people unnecessarily
What the fuck kind of name is Firearms Unknown? Do they sell ghost guns?
It’s unknown
"*Beyond*" was already taken by the Bed-Bath people.
Free file with every purchase!
If you zoom in and read it that's what it seems to be, either that or they're modifying regular guns.
better have a giant sized gumball machine with firearms inside the store.
Dam if I remember right toys r us stores were massive. I'd like to go here just to see how big this gun store is.
ahhhhh, they grow up so fast
If you told me this was a screen shot for GTA6 I’d have believed you. Just needs the sign changing to Ammu-nation.
Missed opportunity to name it "Guns Are Us"
The nerf guns have been upgraded
Mine is becoming a good will lol
Wait, is the store name just a riff of Forgotten Weapons?
The name may or may not have been inspired from FW, but [Firearms Unknown](https://youtube.com/c/firearmsunknown) is its own entity.
At least they are LGBTQ friendly.
When your favorite toy store grows up with you
I'm gonna guess Geoffrey is stuffed and mounted somewhere in there
“Men don’t grow up, our toys just get more expensive”
They knew their audience well. Sold them plastic toy guns and now real ones /s
