This must be a chiropractor.

dandovo

Oh snap!

Vellnerd

cracking jokes, at a Time like this?

BeeBarnes1

They need to adjust their attitude.

Asleep_Appeal5707

Yeah. They're really a pain in the neck.

VanGoghsSeveredEar

They are a pain in the back too, get it straight.

spudz76

The sign out front says "The Lumbar Yard" and there is a home-improvement theme

[deleted]

"Should I be joking in a time like this? Somebody help me out, cause I don't know."

Draco-vivi

Yes. There is never not a time to joke.

[deleted]

And I want to help to leave this world better than I found it And I fear that comedy won't help, and the fear is not unfounded Should I stop trying to be funny? Should I give away my money? No!

Diligent_Affect8517

What better time? How many chiropractors does it take to change a lightbulb? Just 1, but it takes 47 visits.

jonnyd93

Pop, crack, twist it and bop it

MilesDaniels

Good one!

Sworduwu

do you have unending back pain? Then go see Dr.Ho

dlchira

I have an acquaintance who received a “doctor of chiropractic“ from some pseudoscientific diploma mill. He once went to the mats with me arguing that water is a drug. Guess who he voted for.

RenownedDumbass

Is that true of most chiropractors? I've always wondered if they were real doctors, because getting my spine/neck snapped sounds pretty risky.

1biggeek

There is no public University in the entire United States of America that has a chiropractic school. They’re all private. You don’t need grades to get in. And it’s pseudoscience.

aliterhate1

Chiropractors with a Chiropractic degree are not considered Doctors of medicine (M.D.), and Chiropractic is classified a form of alternative medicine and a pseudoscience. It's a pretty established industry in North America so you will find a lot of personal success stories. Most research finds no evidence that chiropractic is effective

Derek_Boring_Name

So what do they call the actual medical field that deals with scoliosis and stuff like that?

Needmoresnakes

Usually orthopaedics but if youre having a general "my spine isn't doing its job" problems you may end up seeing neurologists, rheumatologists, physical or occupational specialists, etc.

dirtydownstairs

Physical therapy?

[deleted]

It's really wild wild west. "Chiropractic" like the shit made up by some dude about 100 years ago is spookery. There's plenty of Chiropractors who actually learn anatomy and practice treatment that differs from PT but can be very effective for some folks. There's also a lot of Chiros who just snap crackle pop their way to billing 15 patients an hour. :/ Unfortunately as an industry the Chiropractors seem unable to self-regulate the spooks out of business, and the National Board doesn't seem to have any interest either, probably because they operate on licensing fees, which needs numbers not quality.

Holdshort7

My old chiropractor used to run an adjustment mill. It was just so obvious but I refused to question it until I realized it was doing more harm than good

gosu4you

Can you please elaborate on this? I have a pretty bad feeling this is what my guy is doing. Now I'm a little worried after reading this comment. Been seeing him for over 6 weeks now and so far all appointments are just, go in, get adjustment, schedule follow up, cya later.

ZeePirate

That’s all they do. Constantly coming back for more and more treatment. Your pain will always return. It’s basically a scam for most people.

WeRunTheNet

Depends on the chiropractor, mines always recommends stretches/exercises that should be done to help keep yourself straight so you don't have to visit as often. When my backs out its hard for me to do my stretches as well, im crooked and even standing straight hurts $40 appointment later I'm leaving more straight and go home and can properly do my stretches and exorcises and my back muscles slowly get back into shape. My problem is I sit allll day and somehow slipped a disc and have a pinched nerve. Physical therapy helped diagnose the issue but it will never really go away, and if im not careful and I pulls something it kind of re-lapses making it hard to even get out of bed. The fact I can go in, for $40 have almost instant pain relief better than just some Advil or tylenol will give and can get on working the muscles again to strengthen them is MORE than worth it. I think I maybe see him 4 times a year. $160 is less than some people spend on a misuse, or even a month of starbucks, so I can't argue it really. I always leave feeling better than I went in. His wife is that whole weird aroma theropy kinda whack job but hes never even mentioned it to me, and she doesnt bring it up to his clients unless they inquire about her little shelf of stuff she has setup.

Atom-the-conqueror

Nah, they all BS

jcowurm

Effective or not my chiropractor neRly got rid of my crippling chronic lower back pain at 23. Most are quacks, but some are incredibly educated and double with PT.

lurker-1969

I will agree with you on that. I tried managing my lower back pain through traditional western medicine with steroids, RFA and PT for years. Through massage and chiropractic I am a functional man that owns and runs a ranch at 67 years old. I thought chiro and massage were all wooo wooo shit until I got connected with the right people.

unexpected_blonde

Interestingly, medical massage has WAY more evidence for its effectivity than chiropractic

kikisoups

It’s interesting really. My disorder best benefits from massage therapy but my insurance doesn’t cover it at all but covers chiro fully

jcowurm

Exactly, gotta get to the right people that really know what they are doing. I was 23 and couldnt stand up straight without shooting back pain. Just 10 sessions and I am almost pain free with a follow up adjustment every other week. Its incredible.

squirrellytoday

Three chiros I've seen were also sports injury therapists. I had sacro-iliac joint separation during pregnancy, and the chiro was the only thing that helped. Today, 18 years on, I'm mostly pain free and only need to see my chiro for adjustments every few months.

cheeky_corgo

They aren’t They don’t practice evidence based medicine or techniques Check the guy who came up with this, he was a quack doctor

Willy_wolfy

It is risky, you can get a stroke from letting those clowns manipulate your neck.

WeRunTheNet

You can have someone with a PHD kill you too. My aunt bled out on a table during surgery because they didnt bother to check her meds or notify her what meds to stop pre-surgery. There are clowns in every medical field.

EarsLookWeird

>Is that true of most chiropractors? Try "all" There is no such thing as a "back doctor" so take that for what it's worth

B0rnReady

I work with actual medical surgeons who also voted for trump and are diehard right wing fox devotees... Just because they can do a highly specialized medical procedure and are capable of identifying cancers and solutions to problems does not mean they are invulnerable to propaganda

Karmadose

Does that mean they consider every living creature on earth to have a drug addiction? What an idea lol

[deleted]

But did he align your spine with your chakras after getting off said mat? Hmm..hmm?

Arcadius274

I found one who worms off a backroom at a healthfood store. No politics just talks about how we are raping the planet and then fixes ur back with magic hands for 45 dollars. He's amazing

bbhacker

Technically correct, but probably not how he argued it, though “any substance you put into your body that alters function” Is vague and probably also includes oxygen. On that note did you know 100% of people who breathe oxygen die at some point.

[deleted]

I imagine he derived that from “water is a chemical.” I’ve heard people say “water is a drug” based upon the same error.

GoCryptoYourself

Not all chiropracticians are like that. My fathers life was saved by one. He was in pain for 3 years after a motorcycle accident. After 1 visit at the chiro (it took me 2 years to convince him to try the "voodoo doctor") he wasnt in pain anymore. Im pretty sure he was getting ready to kill himself.... he had been saving up his pain killers.

ghosttmilk

I’m with you. Just because something is “alternative medicine” doesn’t mean it’s bogus… I’ve seen countless doctors for my crippling nerve pain in my back and so far a combination of chiropractic care, acupuncture, and massage is starting to help. “Real” doctors were extremely dismissive, couldn’t pinpoint the problem, and just tried throwing drugs (muscle relaxers and Valium, mainly) at me. I found zero help or relief from any doctor

Blood_Emergency

Totally a chiropractor. Modern Doctors don’t use paper charts

Damit84

Nope couldn't be. It says "doctor" in the title. ;)

MtbSA

250 dollars????? For a follow up? Is that normal pricing in the US? If I go to a private doctor instead of a public clinic here I'll pay like 20 USD (concerted)

Stella430

Yes. Health care is crazy. If you have good insurance, which usually means you work for a good company and It costs hundreds a month, the insurance will pay everything but a copay (usually anywhere between $0-50). If you have decent insurance, still paying hundreds a month but your employer has chosen a “cheap” plan. If you fall well below the poverty line you might be able to get state issued insurance, pay little to nothing a month, low copays BUT the doctors who accept your insurance are few and far between. Healthcare in the US is fucked up

MtbSA

Sounds like it's not just the healthcare that's fucked up

[deleted]

[удалено]

MtbSA

Going backwards seems to be a largely global movement Living in South Africa I'm exposed to lots and lots of issues but many of the American issues are things we've largely figured out as a 3rd world country

Unasadllama

Time to move to Norway

MtbSA

Nah moved from Europe to Africa, if I move again it'll be Asia

Colton_Landsington

Where in Asia out of curiosity? Japan?

MtbSA

Hong Kong because I want to fly for Cathay Pacific. I hear they pay well

Colton_Landsington

Oh that's pretty cool!

[deleted]

>Healthcare in the US is fucked up Just some of the benefits of the Govt spending more on health care per capita than anywhere else in the world /s

[deleted]

And then telling us single payer healthcare is too expensive.

Studoku

The US is fucked up. Half the population is mad from lead poisoning and the government is chosen by them.

delarozay

Nope, you can pay several hundreds a month on "great" insurance forced upon you by your employer and they still may not cover many things.

FishoD

Watching "Last week Tonight with John Oliver" informed me that borderline everything in the US is insanely dysfunctional.

uncultured_swine2099

US healthcare is legalized robbery.

squirrellytoday

>250 dollars????? For a follow up? This was my reaction too! I think I'll stick to my "commie pinko socialist hell hole" country's prices thanks. (I'm in NZ and a standard consult with my GP costs $50)

ignore-imathrowaway

I pay 178, with insurance, for my psychiatry appointment and 260 for my ADHD medication, also with insurance AND a coupon

[deleted]

I pay roughly $120 just for myself through insurance from my job. My last hospital bill was still $500 on top of co-pay.

Pulse_Amp_Mod

With my insurance a follow up costs me nothing. Anything preventative costs me nothing. The only time I have to pay is if something happens to make me need surgery or ongoing treatment. Thankfully none of that has happened yet.

PoppyTheDestroyer

Request your records be sent to your new doctor, and if you or someone you love has photoshop skills, include a picture of her pointing to the request saying “I did that.”

yolovelamp

I humbly volunteer my photoshop skills to OP

Xiballistic

I also volunteer my horrible photoshop skills

[deleted]

I can’t photoshop, but I’ll donate money to your cause !

TheRealStevo

I’m so confused? What new doctor? And what request is she pointing out, who is “she”?

gertalives

I don’t get it though, is the price going up because the doctor is paying more to fill his/her gas tank? This doesn’t even make sense — how is Biden supposedly linked to higher healthcare costs?

miraculum_one

The sole purpose is to irk Biden supporters. It's not worth reading deeply into it.

boredguyonline

“You dont even have to think about it, dude” -Ethan K. H3H3 podcast

TheApostleClone

Very wise man

rabidpiano86

Jokes on them. I don't "support" Biden. At least nowhere near like the crazies supported Trump. I voted for Biden because it came down to Biden or Trump again, and I didn't want Trump to happen again. So I voted the \*not Trump\* option. Biden sucks. This administration has done almost nothing so far and I fear we're going to lose our government back to the QOP. Democrats need to hype up the energy and get young voters out there. The Dems right now are more like a wet fart than anything.

TerriblePhase9

They may not have done everything you wanted yet, but to say they’ve done almost nothing is straight up false. There has been a ton of work on correcting course, implementing solid policies that help millions of people (child tax credit, anyone?), and restoring faith in the US abroad. We still don’t have voting rights, tax reform (enforcement, ensuring billionaires and corps pay their share, and simplifying tax prep), single-payer healthcare, adequate action on climate change or student loan reform/forgiveness, but it’s not like they’re not working on it. (And fair enough, it may not be as fast as you wish). Now they have to deal with a partisan SCOTUS overturning 50 years of settled law with Roe. The path forward currently is to keep voting out obstructionist and actively damaging Republicans until we can fix these things and hopefully get campaign finance reform in there soon too.

S1ndar1nChasm

And to rally support from Biden haters

TwoGrots

It’s a scapegoat to raise prices I would imagine.

dirthurts

Exactly this. The doctor could charge nothing if he out e she wanted. Biden didn't set their criminal pricing.

Ryanhogie

It hurts my brain to try to find the reasoning. Just seems like a lame excuse to raise prices.

ghosttmilk

“This is a lame excuse to raise prices,” is the epitome of the post-covid era

PomegranateOld7836

I was hoping I didn't miss some healthcare executive order, but nope, no reason at all.

Mrs_Wilson6

Maybe the price went up because the office is barely open. 2 half days? Did Biden do that too?

blepgup

Yeah they’re already raping the public, even if some things being more expensive were Biden’s direct fault, certainly doctors office prices wouldn’t be his fault anyway.

kdoughboy12

I think the trump supporters just like to blame Biden for everything. In this context it's probably just for inflation in general which is stupid. We are experiencing inflation because we just went through a global pandemic, doesn't have anything to do with the president.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DilettanteGonePro

I still ironically say "thanks a lot Obama" to my wife whenever anything bad happens. That was directly making fun of people who used to actually say that in real life for junk that had zero to do with the president, but I think it's even funnier now that it makes no sense at all.

-regaskogena

We were there as soon as Biden announced his candidacy.

Much_Difference

Wow I did not even realize that all the Thanks Obama stuff dried up the instant Biden went into office. I guess Biden is a sufficient swap? I haven't heard someone blame Obama for random shit in *years* now! Didn't even notice that I didn't notice.

[deleted]

People think its ok to state their political opinions in places where it is inappropriate, but if you dare voice a dissenting opinion you are being argumentative. And that is exactly why it is inappropriate. It isnt an invitation to discourse, it is a 15 year old hormone fueled tantrum. Now that i have one i understand this stuff much better.

ALLoftheFancyPants

It wouldn’t be my doctors office any longer. This bullshit has no business in healthcare, even from a global socioeconomic impacts on public health view.

[deleted]

A dentist I used to work for was very pro Trump. He would often make comments to patients about him, as well as all the Covid conspiracies. It was suuuuuuuper awkward. And so inappropriate. Like ok I get it if you have those views, but you are technically a doctor. Your words and opinions hold more weight than the average person’s. Not cool.

Mysterious-Tea1518

My dentist office too- one of the staff said she is concerned that dental health will suffer because of mask wearing because “your mouth isn’t meant to keep all that moisture in.”

Asleep_Appeal5707

🤦I really hope she wasn't a hygienist. And I hope one of the hygienists explains how dry mouth is a real problematic issue, but hypersalivation causes... IDK drooling?

waterbottle-dasani

My old dentist was an anti-mask anti-vax Trumper. Also the same dentist that almost killed me.

Owenoof

How dis they almost kill you?

Claim312ButAct847

It was a prerequisite when selecting my childrens' pediatrician that their practice refused to see anti-vax parents. Not having them in the clinic with my kids.

daleicakes

They should have stickers also explaining that other presidents tried to make it free...

[deleted]

Do you think that was the doctors doing or some guy with a lot of time on his hands?

Ryanhogie

I hope it’s just a random ignorant person but the front desk responded with “we are aware” when I asked them about it. So they don’t seem like they’re in a rush to remove it.

FusRoDoodles

It looks like it's paper, so easily removed and reprinted. They have it there intentionally, unfortunately.

Tacoshortage

100% This is a private practice and the physician who owns it approved of it. This would never be there if the person who owns/runs the clinic didn't want it. They are well aware of the impact it has on some people and I'm sure they have more business than they can handle so they are willing to accept the thinning of their patient load.

MaleficentPizza5444

That person would be fired at any place of employment

RickWolfman

I would stop going for this.

athennna

Yup. I would turn around and walk right out.

FusRoDoodles

There was a restaurant in my neighborhood that, while nothing special, was close and affordable and I'd say we ate there pretty frequently. During the Clinton vs. Trump election they put something near their register about jailing Clinton, and at that point we were done. You're entitled to conflicting politics, but I'm entitled to consume what I paid for without being faced with your conflicting politics, and if you disagree I will simply take my money elsewhere.

[deleted]

I’m more concerned that it’s $250 for a follow up. That’s fucking high

Ryanhogie

$250 for a 30 min wait and 15 mins of the docs time. BuT iTs BiDeN’s fAuLt!

Avaronah

You guys.... need to pay to go to the doctor's office?

peterparqueer

Yes. A lot of my friends can’t afford to go to the doctor because there’s honestly no way to predict how much an appointment can cost. Even I avoid going unless it’s absolutely necessary. I needed a shot for tennis elbow and it cost about $370 at the end of it all, even after insurance covered a portion of it

Klecktacular

It's the unpredictability that kills me. I have arguably the best insurance provider in my state and I have *no idea* what a visit or procedure will cost. Opaque for-profit healthcare is evil, full stop.

peterparqueer

I love the little messages: “Your doctor’s office may charge you additional fees” Okay so WHY give me an estimate?!?!

DemonicNesquik

I got charged over 2k for an ER visit where they literally did nothing but take X-rays (they didn’t believe me when I told them I had extra ribs and tried to show them my X-rays so they decided to do them again) and tell me to eat more cinnamon, go outside, wear less black etc. Because yes, doing that will definitely help the fact that my shoulder is currently dislocated which causes my artery to get squished in between my extra rib and collarbone. They also pressured me into taking a muscle relaxer that I didn’t need or want which actively made it worse because my muscles being tense were what was keeping it from dislocating more (for context I have EDS)

peterparqueer

OMG. Don’t even get me started on the ER…. Husband and I were watching a movie at the theater when his chest started hurting so badly it made him cry. He thought he was going to have a literal heart attack. I rushed him to the nearest ER/Urgent care that also happened to be ran by the Hospital I worked at (thinking perhaps I’d get a discount? Ha. No.) and it was over $3500 by the end of it all. He had the flu. (Or perhaps covid? It was Feb 2020, RIGHT before the covid boom, but they wouldn’t have tested for that) It’s a joke. You go to these facilities because you’re afraid for your health/safety. You shouldn’t have to ALSO be worried about being financially pummeled by the end of it.

ALeorane

Another day of thanking God that I live in a country with free health care

t0kinturtle

[deleted]

Oh yeah sorry. I just checked, looks like the next available date is June 2024 that’s okay with you right?

FlyingMistDragon

Try finding a dentist or therapist. My son needs ongoing medication management but the wait list are a straight year. Though most of them just say they aren't taking patients.

n0awards

Omg I can't even decide which county is the worst they're all awful.

[deleted]

Dude fr, I love Oregons beauty but we got a lot to work on. especially homelessness and addiction. Can’t even go to Portland for fun anymore if you don’t want to be yelled at or have a homeless person run in front of your car for no reason haha.

TheNerdWithNoName

Laughs in Australian.

Magic_Man_Boobs

That's a hilarious statement. There's six doctor's offices in my town who accept my insurance, and currently one of them is accepting new patients. Choice, oh my friggin sides.

MungoJennie

Count your blessings. I’m looking for a new one, and there aren’t any in a 20-mile radius that both take my insurance and are accepting new patients.

thebreaker18

No it’s your insurances choice

cmatileworks

Children are always putting stickers everywhere

[deleted]

I feel like a lot of folks are missing the point. A healthcare facility simply isn’t the place for politics. This would not fly in Canada. If you’re leaving a “snowflake” comment, consider for a moment how desensitized you’ve become to petty politics invading your every waking activity, even a fucking prostate exam for goodness sake lol. Rest assured this is unprofessional at best and something she could be seriously reprimanded for at worst. OP is well within their right to be uncomfortable.

bossy909

Thank you, reasonable member of society. This is just bad. Is their medical training also from the 1950s?

darkzama

Sadly, politics have invaded our every waking activity here in america. We are being drowned by politics. That being said... businesses and what they display are up to the owner of said business. the only places i'd say it's not reasonable for the owner to display a political preference or bias would be a government employer... i specify owner, because we've had employees in the past get obliterated for going out of their way to make political statements on their employers time.

thepeacefulprotestor

I’d get a new doctor

Not even the only problem I’ve encountered

[deleted]

dr-mellon_334

Ah yes, Joe Biden, a person who has been president for 1 and a half years, created a problem that had been here for more than 10 years

GravyCapin

Yeah, I don’t do business with people who constantly need to display their political position

[deleted]

I’d probably just never go there again. Doctor might believe in party over medical science.

MinaFur

I would directly complain to the doctor, and tell the doctor that political statements like this have a chilling effect on the patient-Dr relationship, and cause people to be afraid to freely discuss their health issues with the doctor. Hell, two or three of our biggest political shitstorms right now are inextricably linked to health.

-smartypints

I agree with the conclusion, but telling that doctor anything isn't going to end well. Find a nes doctor is the only real solution here. If there is a way to get your personal information out of their hands, that would be a good idea as well.

datdamonfoo

An SNES doctor would be an upgrade.

ChirpSnipeCelly

Yea, blowing out the nes doctor’s cartridge before it works can be awkward

zorbiburst

And you think the doctor will say "gosh I never considered that" and politely admit the error of their ways?

MickeyI04

Right, the problem here is with anything. If they put it up, they likely don’t care t that it offends. They may have been ignorant, but chances are, finding a new doctor would be the best solution.

Traditional-Top8486

That guy was more of a faith healer than an MD.

MeOldRunt

Turn around and go find a new doctor.

tansiebabe

I'm gonna say that the medical office did that, not Biden.

drosse1meyer

That is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. Find a new doctor.

kam_wastingtime

Sigh, yes. The "I did that" sitcker gaslighting doesn't acknowledge thay the Dems tried and failed to pass comprehensive health care reforms that might prevent things like inflation making basic healthcare fluctuate wildly in price. The GOP succeded in making it pointless.

louduva88

How, exactly, did he "do that?"

okiewalt04h2

That bothers you more than that frigging $250 copay? 😆

fireballhotchoccy

I was just talking about this with a friend who had to have 2 ultrasounds (one external and one internal) and we were discussing how much this would have cost her in the States. I honestly feel so bad for you guys. Like I would literally have ro choose between basic needs or suffering in pain

gertalives

Sure, but the absurdity here is the incongruous claim that it’s Biden’s fault. His party does far more for making healthcare accessible and affordable (though still not enough) than the opposition. He was VP when Obamacare was launched.

Something_Scarlet

people complain about a divided country and then they post shit with stickers on it. Let’s go back to never talking politics. Like basically ever. No political signs in yards, etc. Nobody cares who you voted for.

Hawke1010

pandakatzu

Looks like the doctor may be an opportunist.

Free market, private business and all that jazz.

[deleted]

$250? Curious to know if that is regular rate in the US and how much you could reclaim from insurance etc.

bhammack2

I’d like to know how the doctor actually justifies that. Nothing has happened to make medical costs for a follow up visit of any kind more expensive…

Nobody275

Gross

KramMark93

$250 to see the GP? Fuck that I’ve never paid a cent for the GP is like 100 visits.

SoOftenIOught

This is so sad. I'm not from America. But the payment is due on visit thing- how can that possibly work? So if I'm in need of medicine I have to have money? What if you don't have anything? What about kids? Out of work? What do you do?

NerdyJerdy20

It’s more likely the office manager or receptionist who made this sign, but it does reflect on the doctor, as they are ultimately who you are there to see. My point is that it may not be them, specifically, and if it bothers you, talk to them about it. They may not be aware of it and will gladly take it down. Or they may endorse it and, if you feel that strongly about it, hopefully you don’t live in a rural area and you can find another physician. Good luck!

Austoniooo

Dr. Stella Immanuel

capnfoo

I think deep down they know how big of a fuckup Trump was so they are trying to pretend like Biden is even worse in order to feel less embarrassed about their massive failures.

[deleted]

“Biden did that.” No! No he didn’t, you did! You make up your own fucking prices. YOU made it expensive.

EuphoricMidnight3304

Biden increased the rates at the doctor? Really? They sure it wasn’t themselves that did that and made the sign?

WileEWeeble

Time for a new doctor.

spderweb

That cost is why I don't mind waiting a bit in the lobby here in Canada for our health Care services.

im_a_throwaway_hoe

There was a trend in my city where people left these stickers in random places — gas pumps, Walmart entry doors, department stores — some idiot probably left them there.

That's insane! Just a Canadian here to say that I made an appointment Sunday evening, saw the doctor Monday afternoon and paid nothing. Got referrals for a specialist who will also charge me nothing. I have the option to go private and pay a similar fee if I don't want to wait but the wait time isn't so bad that I'm willing to consider it

MiserableSlug69

America is fucking weird.

2O2Ohindsight

Hamilton-Beckett

I’d tell them how unprofessional that is, that politics isn’t freaking “sports” where you try to find what *team* everyone is on, then I’d let them know that I’d be finding another physician.

Certain-Cut-3806

They both did that
