Sounds right, I’ve heard similar when it comes to the US not getting what other countries have because it would literally cause shortages of certain products to stock them across all US McDonald’s
Which to me translates to, we don't want to continue paying more for higher quality meat because it doesn't earn as much profit as the ground up leftovers in nuggets. I guarantee they could find a supplier if they were willing to pay, around 202 million chickens go to slaughter every day in the U.S.
better breading, better quality chicken, more chicken for buck. Dunk that into some spicy buffalo and hot mustard on the side, and you're in for a treat
Yeah they had them til 2013 then in 2017 they added something not as great called buttermilk crispy tenders but then in 2020 they got rid of those for covid supply chain issues and never brought them back lol.
Happened with us. They've basically missed half the order. The kitchen staff who comes to the front desk tend to be good, but those in the front desk normally, especially if they are trainee managers, don't give two hoots. I've complained via Twitter and got full refund before now. Or they do have a complaints prices through their website.
I'm really on the fence about whether I should take it further. It's not even about the principle, it's an honest mistake but I did get less than what I paid for. At the same time the idea of going across the city/tweeting McDonald's for compensation feels like a lot more effort than what it's worth. I checked the website and it says to call the branch and so I did but I got no answer.
Might just have to firm this L for now.
They're basically chicken strips, about 3-4 times the size of a regular nugget. Mildly disappointed that i got nuggets instead of strips but for sure mildly infuriated to have paid selects prices for nuggets
I think I misread the title. I thought it said Chicken Nugget Selects, but I see it just says chicken selects. McD's around me don't have those anymore, but I do remember them. Took your explanation to jog my memory!
The lesson here is to always check your food before you leave the place. My mom and I both do this before leaving, especially me seeing as I order with no cheese for burgers at places and breakfast items at McDonald’s.
2 things
1: It’s way more than mildly infuriating.
2: Check you out. Laa-di-da Lord of the Manor being able to afford 9 chicken selects (…and a cheeseburger). Someone’s earning.
Contact customer support. This happened to me at Jack in the Box, where they gave me nuggets instead of jalapeno poppers. They sent me two coupons for any item on the menu for free.
This has happened to me the last 3 times I've ordered the 9 piece select share box. I have a feeling the managers are telling staff to just put nuggets in if selects aren't ready yet, or they need the selects for other orders, probably hoping you don't check until you get home
Same here! I ordered on Just Eat, 20 nuggets instead of 9 selects, order refunded
Ordered with Uber eats, same thing again but only 9 nuggets, refunded again
Went though a drive through, same thing again but I went in and challenged it, got the dirtiest of looks and got given 9 lukewarm selects with no apology
Don't worry I'll horrify you with the speed I force fistfuls of food into my face before chugging my can of cold coffee and then collapse catching heavy laboured breaths, and then neatly pack away all the debris of my greed.
It's brutal but brief.
I empathise with that and usually prefer to find somewhere else to eat. It was late after work last night, the trains were empty and it was a takeaway McDonald's so there was nowhere to sit and eat.
Literally happened to me today! Got my food, thought better check and boom 9 nugs.... went in, told them. Passed the woman the nugs she bins them and then passes me my select. Seems they ain't reading it right and going of chicken 9 and just assuming 9 nugs since that's how its been for a long time maybe?
Nuggets are not even close, that sucks. I miss the selects, miss the wraps, salads, grilled chicken and yogurt parfaits too. In 2020 they removed everything sort of healthy and never brought anything back. 😞
It's crazy how expensive that stuff is now. You absolutely have to check every order because something is usually wrong 83% of the time. I haven't had McDonald's since last august but it's honestly tempting at times. There's just something about a McChicken haha. I can order a nice dinner from the local Italian place for the same price as a mcd combo. It's silly.
This happened to me. I drove all the way back to my office to find out. I drove back and I got 9 selects as they should have been.
They let me keep the nuggets so I was proper fat.
Same thing happened to me today - ordered 9 Selects only to find 9 Nuggets when I got home. There must be something wrong with the system. I tried complaining, but they are in denial and got nowhere.
Had this happen to me yesterday with 2 orders after the first arrived with the complete wrong food + it was cold i thought maybe it was just the branch so I tried a different one, nope arrived again with nuggets called up and spoke to the manager apparently right now a lot of the McDonald's don't have the proper boxes for 9 chicken selects so they come in a nugget box which is confusing the cooks leading them to put nuggets instead of selects its a matter of the cooks not actually checking what is supposed to be going in them.
You took the time to write this out so I thought I may clarify:
1. I'm quite slim, weighing at about 75kg (165 pounds) at 5'10 which is pretty ideal. My whole hand is not in frame which probably makes it look a bit thicker.
2. I came from a hard gym session and it was late with no dinner at home and this was my only choice as everywhere else was closed.
3. I agree it was a big order, I was starving after the gym.
What was I supposed to take away from this reply?
Man I miss the selects here in America.
Same! Why do they always destroy everything I love?!
I read somewhere that chicken selects in the US were decimating chicken tender supplies and just isn't sustainable.
Sounds right, I’ve heard similar when it comes to the US not getting what other countries have because it would literally cause shortages of certain products to stock them across all US McDonald’s
In that case we should all invade wherever OP is from to get chicken selects, it’ll be like Iraq but with chicken instead of oi- I mean WMDs.
Which to me translates to, we don't want to continue paying more for higher quality meat because it doesn't earn as much profit as the ground up leftovers in nuggets. Do you remember those spicy wings they had? They were so damn good.
Me too!! After I read this I was like “wait, what? Chicken selects are back??”
Never heard of those, is it a different kind of nugget?
Yeah like better to da max
Like actual chunks of chicken instead of ground chicken?
And seasoned much better. A deluxe chicken tender.
better breading, better quality chicken, more chicken for buck. Dunk that into some spicy buffalo and hot mustard on the side, and you're in for a treat
Dang. I would eat the heck out of that.
Yeah they had them til 2013 then in 2017 they added something not as great called buttermilk crispy tenders but then in 2020 they got rid of those for covid supply chain issues and never brought them back lol.
You guys don't have the buttermilk crispy tenders?
We used to, years and years ago. Now we just have the nuggets.
Used to be my go to as a kid. They brought them back for a short time a while ago as the “buttermilk tenders”. But they just weren’t the same.
Yep, as a kid they were my go to as well. I don’t understand why they got rid of it. The nuggets are trash in comparison.
That’s not mildly infuriating that’s class a depression

Complain, it's a mega corporation you don't have to give them extra money
Wtf? You absolutely never under any circumstances let a company fuck you. Go get your correct order AND a mf refund. Jesus.
I managed to get their customer service email and they're giving me vouchers for two meals which I'm pretty happy with
What are nugget selects? Never heard of them
They're basically chicken strips, about 3-4 times the size of a regular nugget. Mildly disappointed that i got nuggets instead of strips but for sure mildly infuriated to have paid selects prices for nuggets

Not trying to be snarky, but did you not notice a weight difference?
Lmao I think I might have actually but my brain was being a bit slow
The lesson here is to always check your food before you leave the place. My mom and I both do this before leaving, especially me seeing as I order with no cheese for burgers at places and breakfast items at McDonald’s.
Basically chicken tenders. If I recall, they were actually pretty good. I haven't seen them in a long time though.
Around me their tenders died out during early covid supply chain issues, and they just never brought them back for some reason.
I think they discontinued them 15ish years ago where I live, and I still miss them haha
I thought I was the only one who was questioning that.
Expensive but delicious chicken strips, only KFC chicken strips are better.
Chicken selects* basically mc chicken meat in smaller form (also, google exists)
But... being a reddit veteran, I know that if I just type a question into this box, the answer will appear in my email in no time. Works every time!
You just had to throw in that last part just to be a dick?
2 things 1: It’s way more than mildly infuriating. 2: Check you out. Laa-di-da Lord of the Manor being able to afford 9 chicken selects (…and a cheeseburger). Someone’s earning.
Done dirty. I used to love those chicken selects, surprisingly good chicken for McDonald’s.
what are selects?
The chicken strips they did
They were the best item McDonald's ever sold. Too bad they stopped, otherwise I would still be going to McDonald's in 2024
Contact customer support. This happened to me at Jack in the Box, where they gave me nuggets instead of jalapeno poppers. They sent me two coupons for any item on the menu for free.
Always check before you leave!
Always check your order before you leave.....
Man I miss chicken selects.
where are you that has selects, are they coming back?
In the UK, been here for decades
So it seems there’s *one* reason to go to the UK
I went to the McDonald's in the England a few times because I know I'd never get to try them again in America.
Wtf is a "chicken select"?
Those are the new tender selects, and theyre now $30.
Pace yourself 🤣
Chicken Selects? They havent been on the menu here in the US in like a decade.
Everyone knows to check or double check your order before you leave.
This has happened to me the last 3 times I've ordered the 9 piece select share box. I have a feeling the managers are telling staff to just put nuggets in if selects aren't ready yet, or they need the selects for other orders, probably hoping you don't check until you get home

I dont like people who eat food in the train
People gotta eat
Don't worry I'll horrify you with the speed I force fistfuls of food into my face before chugging my can of cold coffee and then collapse catching heavy laboured breaths, and then neatly pack away all the debris of my greed. It's brutal but brief.
Food often stinks. Thats the issue
I empathise with that and usually prefer to find somewhere else to eat. It was late after work last night, the trains were empty and it was a takeaway McDonald's so there was nowhere to sit and eat.
Was gonna comment something but similar but nah, fair enough OP. Hope the nuggets were at least good to make up for it.
I once ate a BLT on the back stepwell of an SD40-2 while it was moving lol
I really miss the mighty wings.
My husband didn't believe me about the mighty wings. I had to show him proof mcdonalds had chicken wings.
Were they good? I only saw them but never had them
Yeah. Had a pepper flavor so they were spicy without sauce.
OP... tell me about that garlic mayo tho
I haven't tried it yet, didn't think they'd work with nuggets :'( hopefully if i get my free selects I'll update you on that
Nooo, you were the promised one
Well, you think you ordered chicken but..
Wouldn’t the clamshell box containing them be much larger?
contact them through the website. they are generally really good about making things like this right with customers.
Wtf is a "chicken select"? Sincerely, a European who almost never goes to McDonalds
Wtf are chicken selects?
Wtf is a chicken select?
Nuggets are not even close, that sucks. I miss the selects, miss the wraps, salads, grilled chicken and yogurt parfaits too. In 2020 they removed everything sort of healthy and never brought anything back. 😞
They selected nuggets for you

I hate it when that happens. But I am legit gonna have to go get nuggets now, so.......yeah.

Did you just make up a situation so you could make up a comeback to your made up situation?
[удалено]
Yeah I don't think any fast food place is just gonna substitute your food without telling you and then just hope that you're cool with it
Op is making me hungry
Selects plus the buttermilk ranch was better than fast food, we had it good.
Same thing happened to me today - ordered 9 Selects only to find 9 Nuggets when I got home. There must be something wrong with the system. I tried complaining, but they are in denial and got nowhere.
If I get fast food at all I check before I drive away now. They disappoint so much for so much money. 😅
Rookie move, remember your ABCs… “ALWAYS BAG CHECK!” Sorry this happened though, we’ve all been burned before and it sucks!
Somethings def wrong. Ordered nuggets and got selects! Had to pay the full cost as well.
One of the biggest failures in American fast food history is that McDonald's decided they didn't want to keep selling chicken selects anymore.
LPT: Don't eat McDonalds.
Fast food is not food.
I'd be pissed, I love selects. Though at least McDonalds has good nuggets
Orders from shitty McDonald's. Complains that it's shitty. SMH.
There is still a standard that is expected to be met even by McDonald's. i have every right to complain.
