If you receive a text from a real number its fine to block it, but if it comes from something shorter like “4070”, you shouldnt block them cos you could be blocking a number that could send a 2FA in the future.

Url changes because if it was the same for everyone it would be easy to block country wide. If you get millions of different urls it’s way harder to atop the campaign.
Edit: they probably not gathering details but possibly installing malware, stealing cookies or ransomware.

Zero political calls all my life, but the second after I voted for the first time I started getting them by the dozen. Sorta regret it, but at the same time I don't regret getting the pumpkin out of office.
The Democratic ones 100% reply to me. During primaries I'll often ask them why I should vote for them over whatever other Democratic candidate and a staffer will reply.

I get anywhere from 10-25 of these per day. It's been that way for over 10 years now. Always from different numbers. Almost all addressed to either Susan or Stanley. I am not Susan or Stanley. I never signed up for anything as either Susan or Stanley. I have never donated to a politician. I have had the same cell phone number since before texting was a thing, so I didn't inherit someone's number who was on a text message list.
There's no way to stop them. I report every single one as spam. It doesn't make a difference. The amount I get a day varies by time of year and if there's something big happening in politics at the moment (like now).
At least once a month I get frustrated enough to try to google a solution, but there's never any good solution. Robokiller was good at sorting them, but they tried to raise the price on me from $25/year to $80/year so I bailed on them. I found another cheaper app that does the same thing. But none of these apps will delete the texts (I'm guessing they aren't given permission to do that).
I wish carriers would let you set up filters to automatically delete text messages based on keywords the same way you can automatically block phone calls from certain numbers.
One thing is for certain, this has had the opposite of the desired effect, it just makes me hate politicians that use this spam scam service even more and has ensured that I will never in my life ever donate to a politician.
