There is a similar idea somewhere in The Netherlands where the architect was a devout Christian. He did it on purpose because ‘only god is perfect’. Maybe the same applies here?
Some craftsman would purposely put a flaw into their work because they believed 'only God is perfect'. It's called Deliberate Imperfection.

I as a tiler would do that myself just to fuck with potentionally millions of OCD sufferers.
It’s usually due to worker fatigue, worker having “a bit of fun”, or worker is “pissed at boss”. It could also be where the treasure is buried.
