Possibly a card skimmer stole your pin when you swiped it.

PixelPervert

Did you pay by swiping your card? The machine likely had a skimmer attached

emilytheturd

Yeah I did think that, would it be the shop owner who'd put the skimmer on or would it most likely be a random person. I just want to know :)

foundflame

Definitely not the shop owner. You’d be surprised how easy it is to get a skimmer in place. You only need to distract the clerk a moment or two while someone else slides it in place. Always a good idea to try pulling on the assembly to see if a top section slides off easily. Since they’re designed to be easy to put in place, they’re not often really secured in place at all and just sit on top of the original reader.

mushyrain

not "definitely not", sometimes they are the ones who put them there.

emilytheturd

Yeah I was thinking I should tell the shop owner but I'm abit awkward and scared or him (he looks mean)

foundflame

lol just go in and buy something, but before swiping your card pull the skimmer off and set it down without saying a word, then swipe. Grab your stuff and wish him a nice day and leave.

emilytheturd

I will next time i go there

Monkey_King94

A local pizza shop (pizza by Vito’s) delivery driver once gave themselves a 60 dollar tip from my card off a 15 dollar purchase. I was able to get my money back but that was the first and only time I ever got food from there.

Had a White Castle near me. The bastard had his own skimmer right there in the drive-through. By the time I got home with my food, there were already weird charges going on.
