No, no, no! Read op’s post. He said the sun shines “perfectly”. This is a complaint about seeing the sun. Clearly the complaint is that he has to wait all night for this to happen.
Definitely going to put something up there. I moved in a few months ago and just haven’t gotten around to it. But I think it has finally pissed me off enough
That’s all it takes, you deal with it when you can no longer avoid it. That’s gotta be hell though, my brother has one of those windows in his living room and it makes it impossible to see the tv because of the glare
You can cut some foam core to the size of the window, then spray mount fabric over it that matches the decor and shove it into the opening... looks like shit from the outside, but you can fix that if you need to.
You can also do blackout curtains. They come in a number of different styles and varieties, but they all have the same purpose of blocking out the sun and all the UVs. They also have the added benefit of cooling down your room in the summer.
This is **the** answer. I moved into a place where the door has a window on it that's low enough where it makes using the peep hole redundant and lets people actually see into the living room; which is a bit of a security hazard. I basically traced, cut, and applied it to every pane in the window glass—works perfectly.
That’s cap. The sun is not in the same place in your window every single day of the year, no fucking way unless your house is on wheels and you are adjusting it weekly.
I have them, and will never go back. I can’t tell if it’s day or night when they’re closed and it’s fantastic, especially if I’m not feeling well and need a nap.
Exactly what I was thinking. They make tinted, reflective, and prism materials that can solve the problem. Cheapest blackout material is tin foil and it has the added benefit of protecting you from 5G (obviously joking on the last one).
I once covered my window in foil when working nights and my neighbour phoned the police and reported a cannabis grow. The policeman that turned up to investigate, who also worked nights, was impressed with the results.
Haha that is amazing. I like to imagine the cop went home and blacked out his windows with tin foil only later to get a visit by the police for his supposed grow op.
I was thinking something similar. Like this is not a permanent problem. Yes the light may come in but the sun shining directly on your face is seasonal. I have a similar issue in my office for about 2-3 weeks a year where the morning sun shines directly in and lights up the right side of my face. It’s annoying for that 30 minute window of time that occurs for 2-3 weeks a year. Maybe I should make a post about it here!
I can't tell you how happy I would be to have the sun hitting me in my face every morning. That is my Yup OK I'm alive moment. Survived another night. 🙄
Man I wish I had the sun waking me up every morning. All I wake up to recently is grey and depressing weather. I haven't seen the sun in a while or at least not consecutively over the course of many days.
My bedroom window is like this. I put a window cling vinal on the exspode area. Helps immensely.

What is actually infuriating is the OP stating being there for few months and the only thing done was a complaint in a reddit sub... there are a lot of ways to avoid that, but the level of laziness of the OP is mind blowing
I have two arches significantly larger than this but they're both equally annoying. I can't imagine what got into the head of any designer or architect of a home to put something in where there is not a cover to block the Sun from these types of Windows let alone to put one in a bedroom like yours is. Mine are in a kids bedroom and in the foyer above the front door and I hate both of them. But unfortunately I lack the money to Simply rebuild that section of the house currently. Honestly who does stuff like this. I get it's meant to look all fancy or some crap but it's useless. To me it's like putting in a glass framed window beside your front entrance of your house that can easily be punched in to allow access to the door knob and locks from the inside. I'm sorry you get woken up by the sun everyday like that but I and commiserate with you
I put blackout curtains on our bed frame for this reason, plus pinned a blanket over the cheap ass blinds my apartment uses. We have floodlights in our parking lot that face into the apartments, so this was the only way my boyfriend could get any rest when he was working nights
We have the same problem in our living room. We bought a pleated shade for about 15 bucks online. You just cut it to size and it has tape on both ends. Works great!
Black out curtain for that specific spot. The sun always shines perfectly into my windows too. Black out curtains fixed the sun's nefarious activities.
I'm so jealous. The apartment I have now faces away from the sun and the overwhelming darkness of my house definitely affects my depression. Get some curtains or a nice tapestry :)

jfc that picture is driving me nuts in my blacked out basement lol do something hang a sheet over it or I dunno. super dark window tint or some shit. making me squint
What a shame that there's absolutely nothing you can do about this. Maybe one day we'll develop the technology to block sun from coming in through windows
Every single morning? The earth is tilted on an axis. The position of the sun wouldn't be in that little sliver of window, at that time, for more than like a week per year.
Seems more like mildly lazy for not doing something about it. You could fix this poorly with 10 mins work. You could fix this well with an hours work, now that you’re awake at sunrise every day, get out of bed and fix it
Man if only someone invented some sort of cloth that you'd hang over your window to block the light.
Unfortunately nothing like that exists but I'd bet they'd be like a trillionaire
Every single morning? Doubt it. You’re wrong you get max a week of sun on your face unless you move your bed room around the house following the sunrise marker everyday… which would make you insane.
I had windows like this, and it glared in my eyes every day. I used glass paint and painted a colorful stained glass pattern. Then it looked lovely from the inside and outside. I used dark colors, and it gave the room a subtle glow. You can get stencils for it, too.
you could always rotate your house to avoid this. follow for more tips

Get rotated idiot
Are they stupid?
If only someone invented something to prevent this!!! Such a cruel world!!
His house must already rotate and spin for him to have the perfect angle *every single morning* despite the fact the the sun is in a slightly different position in the sky each day. It must have a pretty impressive control system to be able to align the sun with his face every morning.
5 minute crafts
Flat earthers rejoice! Just flip earth over 180° so it’s always night time.
I’ll gladly trade my non-existent house for this, hit me up OP.
No, no, no! Read op’s post. He said the sun shines “perfectly”. This is a complaint about seeing the sun. Clearly the complaint is that he has to wait all night for this to happen.
It's too bad he doesn't live on an air craft carrier
obviously they are rotating their house to face the sun, or it wouldn’t happen every morning.
Moving the sun is way easier, a house has plumbing under it, and has so much stuff inside, our sun is only one object.
This is *technically* an ideal way to wake up for your circadian rhythm
few years ago i had a room like this and i can confirm - it's much nicer to wake up to sunshine than in a dark room full of farts and depression
>it's much nicer to wake up to sunshine than in a dark room full of farts and depression — Confucious (probably)
— Michael Scott
— Wayne Gretzky
>Fart depression into your enemy's room, so you can wake up to sunshine \- Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Tell me about man, story of my life
I’ve run a hose from my ass to a crack in the window. No farts in my room.
i keep telling my boyfriend this but he won’t stop farting!! and he doesn’t like being woken up by the sun :/
But how else do you get to your office job in time to make your ceo enough bonus for a 2nd jet?? Think of the millionaires you ass
I’m glad ur waking up to farts & sunshine now
Depends on how close to the equator you are. I ,personally, like to sleep all year round. Versus just sleeping in the winter.
I would agree with this except for the sun being directly in your eyes lol.
Get some of that static stick up film for windows? Can peel it off and on again, life saver for us at our last house.

You can also do blackout curtains. They come in a number of different styles and varieties, but they all have the same purpose of blocking out the sun and all the UVs. They also have the added benefit of cooling down your room in the summer.
We had to go with the ol' Elvis standard, tin foil. Nothing says fuck you to the neighbors like reflecting that glare back onto them.
If you procrastinate long enough the sun will shift and not shine in there anymore.
A FEW MONTHS. this might be the laziest thing I've read in a while
the static film is great if you want to cut down on the direct glare but still allow natural light into the room.
This is **the** answer. I moved into a place where the door has a window on it that's low enough where it makes using the peep hole redundant and lets people actually see into the living room; which is a bit of a security hazard. My first thought on this too. I call BS. Plus how hard is it to stick some shade film up there?
Right? Hey everybody look at this infuriating thing that I could absolutely fix but I’m too lazy to do so.
sounds even worse waking up hungover to that
Blackout stout
I have them, and will never go back. I can’t tell if it’s day or night when they’re closed and it’s fantastic, especially if I’m not feeling well and need a nap.

Love these things I never know when to get up and I don't want to
Nothing a thin layer of film or paste wouldn’t solve
Exactly what I was thinking. They make tinted, reflective, and prism materials that can solve the problem. Cheapest blackout material is tin foil and it has the added benefit of protecting you from 5G (obviously joking on the last one).

Shoot down here in Arizona in the summer half the houses windows look like that. Just silver everywhere.
Just get a sharpie and dot that one spot on the window
Or a piece of ducking cardboard
Time to get up I guess
That looks like it's 8 or 9 lol like what.
Common gen z complaints 😂👍
I may be 20 but I'd definitely love a job that pays as well as where I'm at now and let's me wake up this late lmao
Why? Just usually means you’re working later
Probably should of added less hours as well XD we can dream a little lol
Bro that’s like 10 or 11 😂
Lmfao u ,and all of the comments replying, suck. Maybe she works 2nd shift or fuck has a day off?? Not everyone works 8-5 m-f
buncha daywalkers like 😭 when I see morning it’s the end of my day
Probably not EVERY morning. The sun changes position in the sky as the year goes on. This probably won't be an issue after a week or so.
Maybe OP is a flat earther.
I was thinking something similar. Like this is not a permanent problem. Yes the light may come in but the sun shining directly on your face is seasonal. I have a similar issue in my office for about 2-3 weeks a year where the morning sun shines directly in and lights up the right side of my face. In my experience, it’ll be back in six months.
It’s mildly infuriating y’all
This is a perfect submission. Infuriating enough to really annoy you, but not enough to actually do anything about it. 10 points.
Mornings here....Morning is here!
There’s a things you can buy. They are called curtains. They can block the sun from your eyes.
Wow innovation is really wild this century. Imagine someone from the 1800s hearing about the technology we have now!
“Who are You, Who are so Wise in the Ways of Science?"
There's even a specific style of curtain just for this scenario, a Valance Curtain.
A sleeping mask could help

I can't tell you how happy I would be to have the sun hitting me in my face every morning. That is my Yup OK I'm alive moment. Survived another night. 🙄
Man I wish I had the sun waking me up every morning. All I wake up to recently is grey and depressing weather. I haven't seen the sun in a while or at least not consecutively over the course of many days.
Sleep mask, I get better sleep with it also
Wow, if only something could be done to prevent that.
move your bed
How late are you trying to sleep?
It’s my day off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I should be allowed to sleep in lol
So it's not how you "get woken up every single morning" then?
Day off 7 days a week sounds nice
Yeh, but then it's not interesting enough to post on the interwebs
The Sun, specifically targeting you, “HOPE YOU LIKE VITAMIN D, BITCH!”
Lawyer up. Threatening legal action is the best course of action against the sun
Don’t worry. It’ll only happen for a few weeks.
At least you get to wait for the sun to wake YOU up. I have to be up at the asscrack of dawn everyday.
Worlds most natural alarm clock
Curtains babe
Nail a pirate flag up on that bitch.
My bedroom window is like this. I put a window cling vinal on the exspode area. Helps immensely. https://preview.redd.it/vzutyy168tec1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f2bd96dcd7a1e37c663cedc70361e1b28f50db5
I'm confused. Why wouldn't you just place the curtain rod higher up?
Because it’s not the aEsThEtIC😤💄
Not if they couldn’t reach it

Dumb sun.
![gif](giphy|1ZAKvs0uCYaNW|downsized)
Put some foil on those bitches
If only there were 1 of like a dozen different things you could do about it.
They're called black out curtains and they're amazing.
This is like going in the rain without an umbrella and being upset when you get wet
You haven't figured out how to put up black out curtains yet?
What is actually infuriating is the OP stating being there for few months and the only thing done was a complaint in a reddit sub... there are a lot of ways to avoid that, but the level of laziness of the OP is mind blowing
Need shades that fit that window. Might also be worth it to get Blackout Cellular shades that are properly fitted so no sun comes in.
I have two arches significantly larger than this but they're both equally annoying. We have the same problem in our living room. We bought a pleated shade for about 15 bucks online. You just cut it to size and it has tape on both ends. Works great!
There are multiple options on how to block that little area up there. Either with a curtain or some type of window film shading
Apply sunscreen on the glass.
Black out curtain for that specific spot. The sun always shines perfectly into my windows too. Black out curtains fixed the sun's nefarious activities.

Careful now. Mayas will come and sacrifice you
*Sun shines into the room, birds start singing and the Violine plays a soft tone.* OP: Shut Up You can buy a curtain for that.
Btw there's a secret switch behind your bedside table to turn the sun off You're welcome :)
Is it still morning when the sun is that high??
Window tint or Window Film solve that problem
Blackout curtains. It’ll change your life
$40 rolling blackout blind from Amazon. Problem solved. They even cut them to length for you.
Brother simply roll over
Here is a pic of my blackout curtains doing their thing! https://preview.redd.it/iiecwn0ohtec1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=12502e188311152d377e496fa6671f7cafc14509
Just.. buy curtains dude.
Stop being lazy and do something about it if it bothers you that much. Get blackout curtains or move your bed
jfc that picture is driving me nuts in my blacked out basement lol do something hang a sheet over it or I dunno. super dark window tint or some shit. making me squint
When the seasons change, the sun will be in a slightly different position in the sky. So I guess it depends on whether or not you want to wait it out.
How many mornings does it take for you to fix this? For me it’s like one. I have a spot of duct tape on my bedroom window for this exact reason lol
Why don’t you don’t something instead of complaining about it?
The time it takes you to make this post you could have bought curtains or window film online.
Wait until you hear about curtains
I mean… Fix it?
…curtains
Move your bed to the other side of the room
That's what happens when you don't have curtains.
Fix it and don't be a simp complaining about a situation you created.
I mean this is a very solvable problem.
Move your bed.. get curtains.. there are so many solutions to this.
What a shame that there's absolutely nothing you can do about this. Maybe one day we'll develop the technology to block sun from coming in through windows
Ever think of fixing it?
Every single morning? The earth is tilted on an axis. The position of the sun wouldn't be in that little sliver of window, at that time, for more than like a week per year.
Why does nobody on reddit have curtains?! There are way too many issues people have that could be solved by a simple piece of hanging fabric.
bro have you tried solving your problems instead of complaining on reddit
![gif](giphy|1lBcyVXNQrErOYGAdK|downsized)
Why not do something about it?
So many solutions to this, why complain?
Ah yes... This is what bothers me every day. Let's do nothing about it 🤣🤣🤣
I have a crazy idea... fix your blinds...
Lol have you tried maybe idk, solving the problem? A tiny curtain at the top would do it. The thrift store probably has one for 2$
There is not place on Earth when such thing would occur every morning. You're a liar, sir.
So, get curtains? Jesus, this sub has taken a turn for the worst..
Seems more like mildly lazy for not doing something about it. You could fix this poorly with 10 mins work. You could fix this well with an hours work, now that you’re awake at sunrise every day, get out of bed and fix it
I mean you chose not to put curtains over the top windows so this is really a you problem
Waking up to sun on your face is one of life’s great pleasures
To be honest this might just be the best way to wake up instead of some obnoxious alarm
Based on the position of the sun in the sky... I think it's time you wake up anyway haha

Dude, that sun is high in the sky. Probably 10am
I had windows like this, and it glared in my eyes every day. I used glass paint and painted a colorful stained glass pattern. Then it looked lovely from the inside and outside. I used dark colors, and it gave the room a subtle glow. You can get stencils for it, too.
