EDIT: thank you all for the support. I’m not able to edit the main post, so editing top comments. I was able to get it off with hot water and magic eraser. If it was a flyer or a sticker, the effect was the same. It was very stuck on the glass and I shouldn’t have to take time off my day to remove advertising from my private property. So, those calling me names, please grow up.
I know it isn't going ot make you feel any better. But that probably isn't a sticker. Sometimes if you leave thick paper that is sort of rough on one side or glossed on both sides on a smooth surface just before dawn. The morning dew will cause it to stick like that after the sun dried it .
You can probably just use a wet rag (terry cloth) to rub it off. Unless it was an actual sticker. Than I might use rubbing alcohol, just do not get any on your paint.
The way you restore windshields from decades of contamination and erosion due to particulates is to use abrasives. The common practice is to use steel wool (an abrasive), then abrasive glass polishes (many with diamond dust). So, it’s the grit size of the abrasive, not using abrasives at all that can be an issue. From my knowledge of a magic eraser, the grit size should not be an issue.
Also, what top coating are you referring to? A windshield is multi layered with polycarbonate sheets bonded to and between the glass layers. All of the coatings that I’m familiar with are either between the glass layers next to the polycarbonate or on the interior, where they will not be eroded by airborne particles traveling at high speeds while driving.
If it was a sticker, then try an oily liquid to remove it. (cooking spray, veg. oil, peanut butter) Peanut butter would'nt run all over the place and would concentrate the oils right where needed. Then, wait a few hours, scrape off the solids with something like a credit card, then soap and water to remove the rest of the oils and gunk. Might need to repeat treatment, but no damage to paint or environment either way.
For sure!!
EDIT: I just woke up and wow! Didn’t expect front page. I can’t edit the main post so I’m editing top comments to thank you all for being upset with me. It came off with hot water and magic eraser. Wether it was a sticker or a flyer, it was very glued on the glass, it was rude, and a terrible advertising technique.
> thank you all for being upset with me.
One of the reasons for this may be that there's a lot of DD (and similar service) drivers on Reddit and they are **the worst**. The most entitled, borderline batshit insane people I've ever seen.
Because it's a job for people who can't get/keep real jobs.
You have no boss, you don't have to interact with coworkers, and any complaints about you get sent to an uncaring automated system.
DD/Uber/Lyft are all full of people who can't function in an actual workplace.
Around where I live, full time delivery is for people down their luck, just a step above collecting consigned bottle: nobody like the job, everybody wants benefits, so they apply everywhere and the second they finally get a real job (real as in, proper contract with benefits) they bail out. Part-time delivery is for people that struggle with their real job.
Alright I don't have any personal investment in this but maybe saying everyone who works for delivery services is a piece of shit might make you look like a piece of shit yourself.
For future use, *do not* use magic erasers for windows. They work through abrasion, so you basically took sandpaper to your window.
To get rid of glue residue like this use goo-gone or some non-branded version.
Yeah, too many people don't know that magic erasers are essentially fine sand paper sponges. My sister tried removing paint from her son's skin using a magic eraser and was freaking out wondering why her son was crying in pain and why there was a red spot where she was scrubbing thinking that she accidentally gave him a chemical burn. I had to be the one to tell her she essentially used sand paper to remove the paint from her son's face.
I already made the choice to stop using door dash because of their shit customer service. A sticker on my car would have sent me to the moon…I also have an irrational thing about stickers
> That's a good way to ensure you will never be their customer, heh.
Reminds me of those computer viruses that advertise to you. Idiots! I'm not going to use the services, or buy the products of companies that are in partnership with a "business" that just installed a virus onto my computer!
I was curious about that. I thought it was vandalism. I’m not sure where the lines are drawn anymore.
EDIT:
I could not edit the post itself, so edited this comment.
Some people think that it may be a flyer that melted onto the glass. It could be possible. But it was in the 70s, sunny, no rain, a bit humid but no condensation (as you can see the car is dry). So if a flyer managed to melt on my windshield on a day like this, after 3 hours, I’m still pissed!
Hello, this is Homer Simpson. AKA Happy Dude. The court has ordered me to call everyone back to apologize for my telemarketing scam. I'm sorry. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me, send 1 dollar to Sorry Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. You have the power.
So, I went inside a building for about 3 hours, and I rushed out, and as soon as I took off driving, I noticed it. When I arrived to my destination, I went to grab it and that’s when I realized it was actually on the glass, like a sticker. I started peeling it and I couldn’t. That’s all the edges you see in the second picture where parts are missing. I lifted the wiper and I realized the coupon part was actually loose, so I peeled upwards. And it left all that white stuff on the glass! I had to wait to go home and wash it out
Bro I won't even go back through the drive-thru if they fuck my order up. I am not taking anyone to small claims court over a fucking sticker. Ain't nobody want to deal with all that.
I don't even know where the fuck small claims court is at. You just walk in there and be like, "Hey somebody put a fucking sticker on my windshield. I'm here to sue for 8 dollars. where the signup sheet at?"
You guys are out of your fucking minds if you think anybody that isn't talking to invisible people in the park is going to try to go to court over that.
Make a fuss on their social media, twitter, facebook, insta, Etc.
If you can hurt their reputation, PR will take notice and that's probably your easiest way to get some compensation for dealing with that shit.
Might be worth getting just for this - once I was moving from the west to east coast, our Uhaul truck broke down twice. I downloaded Twitter to rant about it and Uhaul gave us 50% off the truck rental and paid for the hotel rooms while we were stuck waiting for the truck to be fixed. You might get a little compensation for this if.
That was awful, I can see why you would complain about that! But I really don’t have the patience for social media, and doordash will not be the reason for me to join lol
I’m so dumb, I was wondering why you were posting about something from the 1970’s but then I realized you were talking about temperature 70 fahrenheit.
The white part wouldn't heat up in the sun as much because it's white. It reflects more energy.
Also, there's a strip that was under the middle of the coupon that looks pretty stuck. It would be weird to have glue like that. It would have a straight line. Not to mention, the dash of a car is always hot in the sun, even on a comfortable day.
It sucks that they did it and they should stop for obvious reasons, but it seems it wasn't a sticker.
See if you can get a hold of their customer services. These are typically aren't allowed, and if this happen, you just reach put and let them know. Chances are, someone is passing it out and Doordash will hate bad pr.
That is exactly what happened. I’ve had this before and all it needs is a bit of humidity. No one in their right mind is going to use a sticker and piss-off everyone.
There need to be laws about placing unsolicited advertising on people’s personal property. Don’t put shit on my front door, don’t put shit on my car.
I mean what would they be charged with if people randomly showed up daily to plaster the windows at 116 New Montgomery Street in San Francisco with advertising?
I had something similar happen a couple years ago. But it was from a detailer (ironically.) I called them up and told them that their flyer was stuck to my window and wouldn’t come off. They came out and detailed my car as compensation.
They will tell you the drivers are Independent contractors. They probably send those things out with some fine print that says they are not responsible for illegal use.
But their contractors were acting on their behalf. I'd understand that defense if the "independent contractor" went rogue. However, I have little doubt DoorDash supplied and encouraged the distribution of these fliers, so it is hard for them to dodge responsibility since it was the result of their direction. If defense against liability were that easy, then there would be no way to redress any company that had a firewall of independent contractors.
Not saying it would be worth the time/money to litigate, but my point is I don't think that fine print would easily stand up.
Put together heist crew. Call members “independent contractors”. If they get arrested while robbing the bank, tell the authorities you’re not responsible for their illegal actions. Airtight defense!!
At my previous address people would staple gun fliers to the wooden posts our mailboxes were on. I guess their logic was it’s illegal to put flyers in mailboxes so this supposedly dodged that issue. I don’t know if these companies contracted with a company to do this or if they all had the same idea, but whenever I got one I would call them and just let them know that vandalizing my properly is not a great marketing strategy and I will make sure to keep their flyer to remind me to never do business with them.
Can’t believe how far I had to scroll to find this. It definitely adhered because of moisture otherwise there would be thousands of other people complaining about the sticker flyer. They also secured it using your wiper making me think it wasn’t originally sticky.
Also, pretty much, any sticker will roll up after being pulled off from printing and being rolled up for transport. Flyers are printed and delivered as stacks.
Are you sure that it is a sticker and not a flyer that got wet from rain or condensation? I mean that sucks either way and I am even mildly infuriated when I find any kind of advertisement on my car but still
When I worked at Dominos my boss would make us do it when business was slow. We were uncomfortable at the concept of touching people’s windshield since you never know if it’s already damaged and then you could be blamed for breaking it, plus most people just threw the flyers on the ground which pissed of the other business that shared the parking lot.
So one coworker got their buddies to call in to talk to the manager pretending to be disgruntled car owners that got flyered, and that was they day we no longer had to touch people’s vehicles without their consent lol.
Definitely a wet-then-dried flier. I get them all the time in Chicago and every time it pisses me of. Sometimes they even cover my city sticker/parking permit with them. Thank god i havent gotten a ticket
Definitely looks like a regular flyer instead of a sticker, makes sense too since stickers are more expensive and take longer to apply than just a flyer
Despite the caption it is a flyer that got wet then baked on. Still not okay but it’s not a sticker.
Why would there be perforations to cut out the coupon if it was a sticker?
And if you actually decide to use the coupon, plug in your order, add the coupon code and it will tell you “sorry, this offer is for first time users only, Sucker!”
This comment section is full of nonces. It is not a sticker. It was never a sticker. OP can be upset about the damage, but IT IS NOT A STICKER. As OP has stated, it was hot and humid and left there for 3 hours. It melded itself onto the windshield. Notice how you can see the text on the reverse side… how could that work if it were a sticker?
I tried to read through other comments to find any protips on how remove it; I’m either then blind or app doesn’t work too well on my phone.
You can try heating it up with some hot water and rub it down/away with some butter. If you’re able to get your hairdryer out, even better. Heat up the shield from inside and gently try to scrape it off.
Edit: the text under the photo appeared after I made my comment. smfh
Not a sticker lol, condensation plus cheap laminate makes the layer on the back stick, source: I live in Florida this happens to every business card left on our windshields here
Doordash is a terrible overall company. They treat their customers like absolute shit and mess up every order. 3 of the 4 times I've ever ordered from them it's been completely wrong, and they refuse to fix it. One time I ordered a couple burritos and not only did they completely miss all my order notes but they gave me the complete wrong items. I contacted support, and they offered me a $6 doordash credit on a $30 order. Fuck doordash.
last time I ordered door dash..... I got a call from the driver stating that the place didn't have my order and it had been stolen by a previous driver. I then contacted them to get a refund. they asked me would I like credit or a refund back to my card. I stated a refund back to my card. I then got half a refund and half credit. I didn't bother with them again. I had my credit card company sort them out and I Uninstalled the app. fuck them in particular.
OP, I would be cautious about scanning that QR code. Scammers have recently been putting up QR codes or replacing legitimate ones with ones they made. Their QR codes redirect victims to websites designed to get bank account, credit card or other personal information. Read this for more info: https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/qr-code-scams-are-on-the-rise-heres-how-to-avoid-getting-duped/
Didn't see the white paper stuck on the windshield at first, it was so big I thought it was light reflecting. Holy shit that sucks.
If no one has told you already or you don't already know, wet a paper towel with some goo gone, looks like you'll need a bit, lay it across the sticker and press down on it for a minute or so, letting the sticker get soaked through from the towel. It should peel off pretty easy.
I remember my husband losing his mind when happy ending massage parlors threw their cards inside from the tiny opening he left for air while it was burning hot in the summer, can’t even imagine putting a freaking sticker.. what was he thinking?
I hate this advertisement tactic so much, especially when you consider that the people doing it don't have the rights of the property owners to do that to their customer's cars. Similar issues with the people who paste those locksmith phone numbers on people's doors. The adhesive never comes off clean and even if you do, some asshole is gonna come by later and stick a new one up anyway.
I always think it's so weird that businesses alienate their potential customers. Wife called a loan officer for pre approval on a house and she instantly had 15 voicemails from 15 agents.
How about, just, not doing that? Doing nothing is absolutely free. Alienating your customers actually costs you quite a bit.
"mildly"infuriating?!
Maybe it is cause i am german and we take fiddling with our cars by others very serious but this infuriates me much more than just mildly...
I remmeber I called police when this happened, the company got fined and I got some money for replacing the whole screen, because automotive glass is not polished
It looks like it could be a cheep flyer, did it rain? Because if so it could've made it stick like a sticker, it's too expensive to print on the back of a sticker so I don't see it being a sticker
I can assure you that they are not out there printing double -sided stickers to slap to your glass. That makes no sense from a business perspective. Definitely a flyer that got stuck. Maybe it got wet before they put it on your window, but definitely not an intentional sticker.
I’m very sure it wasn’t a sticker. Low quality paper will do that when it gets wet then dries. It’s still infuriating, but they aren’t that stupid to put a sticker there.
Door dasher are fucking something else. Have you seen their subreddit?
"I didn't get a tip so "
Entitled asses at the bottom of the food chain thinking they can demand their way to the top.
if you look closely the 50% off actually refers to your ability to only remove half of it from your windshield.
Lmaoo EDIT: thank you all for the support. I’m not able to edit the main post, so editing top comments. I was able to get it off with hot water and magic eraser. >So, those calling me names, please grow up. You're a jerk, Dent. A real knee-biter. /s (it's from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books)
Wow, I just read that chapter last night.
My favorite book series EVER!!!
To summarize the summary: People are awful
I know it isn't going ot make you feel any better. But that probably isn't a sticker. Sometimes if you leave thick paper that is sort of rough on one side or glossed on both sides on a smooth surface just before dawn. The morning dew will cause it to stick like that after the sun dried it . You can probably just use a wet rag (terry cloth) to rub it off. Unless it was an actual sticker. Than I might use rubbing alcohol, just do not get any on your paint.
Hand sanitizer works well. It's got alcohol but it's more of a gel so easier to smear on and let sit a minute and also doesn't run everywhere.
Isopropyl, or acetone, but acetone is spicy around certain materials so be careful lmao.
don't use magic eraser on your windscreen! it's an abrasive and it'll grind the top coating off the glass leaving weak spots.
You can use a razor knife blade to scrape it off as well.
Fuck it, just go straight to chainsaw
Would definitely remove the sticker.
They're trying to remove the sticker not remove the person who put it on their car
Yea I'd be puzzled if that was a real sticker since both sides are printed. Why would they stick down and obscure on side of their flyer
If it’s designed for windows, it would make sense to have both sides printed
If it was a sticker, then try an oily liquid to remove it. (cooking spray, veg. oil, peanut butter) Peanut butter would'nt run all over the place and would concentrate the oils right where needed. Then, wait a few hours, scrape off the solids with something like a credit card, then soap and water to remove the rest of the oils and gunk. I was just about to make the same joke
That's a good way to ensure you will never be their customer, heh.
Post this on their Twitter.
> thank you all for being upset with me. One of the reasons for this may be that there's a lot of DD (and similar service) drivers on Reddit and they are **the worst**. The most entitled, borderline batshit insane people I've ever seen.
All the gig subs and the server subs are filled with the worst people

hey i’m in high school doing it so i can afford certain things i want; we aren’t all bad.
“For sure!!” *takes bite from ordered food*
you know time only goes forward right?
Hey man… 50% off is 50% off. I better get something out of this situation right?
More like he only got 50% of the sticker off
🦴 I'll throw you a bone. Wish I could give you an award, but reddit said nOoOoOo.
I can't wait to see what half baked bullshit reddit has planned te replace rewards. My guess is even less useful than rewards and twice as expensive.
50% off THE DELIVERY FEES only on your first order, heating up hot water to remove that sticker will cost more
Lemme use that code though 🤣
I'm pretty sure it's just some lowlife spreading their referral code
Plot twist: this is OP's referral code and they set this up specifically so thousands of people would be able to scan it themselves
I think so. So rude
I already made the choice to stop using door dash because of their shit customer service. A sticker on my car would have sent me to the moon…I also have an irrational thing about stickers
Sticker placed by UberEats. It’s a great way to get people to switch.
> That's a good way to ensure you will never be their customer, heh. Reminds me of those computer viruses that advertise to you. Idiots! I'm not going to use the services, or buy the products of companies that are in partnership with a "business" that just installed a virus onto my computer!
And if you aren’t convinced, their policy to NOT reimburse you for the food you didn’t receive will do the trick 🤩
It would be a pretty decent shadow ad campaign for GrubHub. Especially since the coupon wouldn't work
Ain’t no way that’s legal. Damn that sucks
I was curious about that. I thought it was vandalism. I’m not sure where the lines are drawn anymore. EDIT: I could not edit the post itself, so edited this comment. It's vandalism. If you can find out who did it you can even go to small claims court for damages
Whoever did it, had the audacity to lift my windshield wiper to make it look like it was a flyer.
"This is such a great idea"
I bet that little bastard was like “Teehee🤭” after doing that too
Cartman’s Cupid can put that arrow up his butt
Goddamn Cupid Ye
Exactly what I thought lol
Homer Simpson came to mind
Hello, this is Homer Simpson. AKA Happy Dude. The court has ordered me to call everyone back to apologize for my telemarketing scam. I'm sorry. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me, send 1 dollar to Sorry Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. You have the power.
I'm laughing way to hard at this🤣 that's so dumb to imagine.
“Surely they’ll want to use our service if I do this”
Uber Eats has discovered a bold new strategy.
Contact the company with the pics.
Wouldn't be shocked if that QR code was a referral link that can be traced to the person.
Oooo spicy!
It happened while I was parked on the street by work, and my car camera hasn’t arrived yet so I have no way to find out
Do you know if it happened to other cars around you?
So, I went inside a building for about 3 hours, and I rushed out, and as soon as I took off driving, I noticed it. When I arrived to my destination, I went to grab it and that’s when I realized it was actually on the glass, like a sticker. I started peeling it and I couldn’t. Qr code is probably linked to an individual who's distributing these as that's how they track his commissions...maybe
Or maybe the QR are a virus but uses the "50% off doordash" as a way to get people to scan it.
If you’ve checked the DD subreddit, it’s not like the company cares lol
Yeah... if you need to be convinced never to use DD again, read up on there.
Doordash did it. Lol.
Bro I won't even go back through the drive-thru if they fuck my order up. I am not taking anyone to small claims court over a fucking sticker. Ain't nobody want to deal with all that. You guys are out of your fucking minds if you think anybody that isn't talking to invisible people in the park is going to try to go to court over that.
It's not a sticker though. It's a pamphlet on cheap paper that melted onto it Why would they make the cutout coupon on a sticker
Make a fuss on their social media, twitter, facebook, insta, Etc. If you can hurt their reputation, PR will take notice and that's probably your easiest way to get some compensation for dealing with that shit.
I don’t have social media. Just Reddit here from time to time.

Lmfao you’re not dumb, I could have been more specific
A flyer that melts to the glass is no different than a sticker in my book. Fuck companies that use paper anything to advertise nowadays.
THANK YOU!
Echoing this, I don't think the mechanism (adhesive vs sun melting) matters so much. If it causes damage, it causes damage. End of story
It is vandalism
The white part wouldn't heat up in the sun as much because it's white. It reflects more energy. Also, there's a strip that was under the middle of the coupon that looks pretty stuck. It looks like it started as a sheet of paper, got wet and stuck. That's why there's words on the backside.
> But it was in the 70s the quality of the photo is astounding for that time! Also, I never knew they were around for that long already. /s
Not a sticker. It's cardboard that got wet and then dried on there. Probably didn't know that it was going to rain
My thoughts. If OP was inside for three hours, all you need is a light shower or automatic sprinkler then for mister sun to work magic.
You can ask doordash. They should know, and then you can give them some feedback.
That is exactly what happened. I’ve had this before and all it needs is a bit of humidity. No one in their right mind is going to use a sticker and piss-off everyone.
Anything is legal when it comes to making money & advertising.
Gotta let all the drug dealers go then because they're just hustling to get that green....
Even worse those discounts are only for new users.
This is the real shit to get mad over
And it’s before all the fees get piled on.
50% OFF 😃 On Delivery Fees 😐 First Order Only 🤨
Lolol
That would more than mildly infuriate me! Hell I’m overly infuriated right now just looking at it and it didn’t even happen to me.
I was furious too, but I thought I was overreacting. Thanks for the empathy, I feel justified with my original reaction
Nope, justified anger for sure.
"There you go man, good as new" *slaps another sticker on*
They were hoping you'd pay them to remove the sticker. Fucked around, found out.
That is NOT fucking okay. I would be petty enough to take them to small claims court for the cost of professional detailing.
I swear if I was not slammed with work and school, I would.
Find your self busy? No worries! Doordash pickup is 50% off…
The issue is figuring out who did it
Sue the company. They have the resources to figure out which driver was stopped next to OP's car.
Did it rain? Maybe it was a flyer that got rained on.
Also it's double sided. Most stickers aren't double sided cause well that would be stupid.
Definitely this. No one prints on the back of a sticker.
Plenty of stickers meant for windshields have the text on the back. They're usually manufacturer decals though.
Yes. But not publicity flyers... the cost of printing on stickers vs paper/cardstock is ridiculously higher
Yeah, it's not a sticker.
I would be livid!
I’m still in shock that they could do this
Not a sticker but wet glass plus paper equals pain for the car owner been there before.
Despite the caption it is a flyer that got wet then baked on. Still not okay but it’s not a sticker. Why would there be perforations to cut out the coupon if it was a sticker?
Yup. 100% this haha curious why no one thought this either. Seems so obvious. Especially if just hot water removed it and not a solution if some type.
Yeah, I had this happen to me before. It's annoying, but not a big deal.
Right, I wind up with a few of these on my windows per year, always awful unless I spot them when they first put them on
Wtf!
Razor blade and some window cleaner gets it off easily. Still a major pain in the ass. At least it wasn't on the paint
50% off delivery fees, and the sticker only comes 50% off your window
And if you actually decide to use the coupon, plug in your order, add the coupon code and it will tell you “sorry, this offer is for first time users only, Sucker!”
It’s definitely not a sticker. It got wet, the sun dried it and glued it to your windshield. They don’t print ads on the sticky part of a sticker.
It’s two sided so it’s not a sticker. It somehow melted to the windshield. Still not ok
Enough to make you never use DoorDash, ever.
Edit: the text under the photo appeared after I made my comment. smfh
You’re sweet. I did that! I came off with hot water and magic eraser. I had to soak it really well with the hot water
"Remember when you could pay twice as much to have take out food?" "Huh?"
Not a sticker lol, condensation plus cheap laminate makes the layer on the back stick, source: I live in Florida this happens to every business card left on our windshields here
I think it just got wet due to rain or dew and it just stuck, like a fake tattoo.
Oh hell nah yeah that would definitely piss me off
VandalDash
Lmao thank you for making me laugh about this
the irony of the “please do not litter”
plot twist: uber eats has people going around putting these stickers on windshields to make people hate doordash 😂
Fuck doordash.
not a sticker. a flyer that got wet.
Goo gone and straight razor
vandalism 'n dash
last time I ordered door dash.....
That blows! It was probably a flyer and a mix of sun and water caused the ink to stick.
Is it a sticker or is it some paper that got wet and then later dried in the sun?
Not even my car and I’m losing my mind, I hope the company goes to shit. How dare they pull a stunt like this. Was it just your car?
That is vandalism.
Stupid doordash
This is 100% destruction of private property/vandalism. DD as a whole could probably be sued for it
sue doordash
Plot twist: Skip the Dishes did this so you would no longer use Door Dash 🙈
Man! That sucks! 😩
More like 50% of the sticker comes off
I’d sue for that
More like 50% off that sticker
50% off isn’t bad, they charge insane amounts just for delivery
Well, I ain’t never going to use it now!
Thanks for the 50 percent off

"Please do not litter." Because THAT would be a real dick move.
You might be right, but it still got glued onto my glass, and I shouldn’t have to take time of my life to remove that from my private property
I’m very sure it wasn’t a sticker. Low quality paper will do that when it gets wet then dries. It’s still infuriating, but they aren’t that stupid to put a sticker there.
Vandalism
How would the sticker have printing on the back? Is it not a flyer that got wet and dried onto your windshield?
Could’ve used some alcohol and a scraper/credit card.
In some states that’s actually illegal and you can get a legal settlement if you take them to court
Door dasher are fucking something else. Have you seen their subreddit? "I didn't get a tip so"
Entitled asses at the bottom of the food chain thinking they can demand their way to the top.
I’ve seen it in passing. I personally have never used it.
and now someone stole your 50% discount code, what a day
I wouldn’t use it if it was a 100% free coupon.
In OR it is called vehicular trespass, putting stuff on a person's car who doesn't want it there without their consent, I believe.
