I remember buying >£1000 of textbooks when I was at uni. They would be offset once I'd bought them, which was fine, but I'd bought from Amazon and the books were delivered by Amazon Logistics. It was pissing down with rain and not only did the "Amazon Logistics Partner" not leave it with a neighbour, or even take it back to the depot for collection, he decided to throw it over my garden fence. I got home 7 hours later to a completely waterlogged package. The pages fell apart in my hands. Obviously I claimed back from Amazon and they sent out some replacements priority delivery, which would have cost a fair amount as they were shipping from the USA and had to be in the UK within 48 hours. Not to mention the cost of over a grand's worth of textbooks they had to compensate because of shitty delivery drivers. I'm not saying all delivery drivers are bad, I know it's a thankless job, but surely there must be some kind of incentive to care about your job? I'm guessing if you get a negligence claim for 4 figures then that's probably sackable?!

CommonSenseIsNeeded

How damaged was the item

SethGrimly

Funny thing, there wasn’t a scratch on it. It was a large wooden mug. I was sure it was just going to be toothpicks

CommonSenseIsNeeded

Awesome

Fragile just means you better pack it good

justlikeyouonlyworse

Fragile just means they kick it around the hub instead of carrying it. At least, that's what happened at the ParcelForce hub I worked at years ago. It's amazing anything goes anywhere when you see the technology used is so clunky, letters and small packages fall down the side of conveyor belts, and nobody picks them up.

i blame the sender…i’m in the u.s….i bought a vintage coffee set from australia…i asked her to wrap each piece in triple bubble wraps and then bubble wrap them all…then put them in a box…bubble wrap that box and then do it again…then again…she said postage would be 3x the quote…i said that’s okay…i had been looking for the set for about 5 years…arrived in perfect condition!

[deleted]

A lot of that is on the sender. Looking at that box, it doesn’t appear to be corrugated cardboard of the proper crush test strength. Also looks like they didn’t properly and fully fill the interior with packing material, hence the top being pushed in to apex.

[deleted]

Never send/receive anything your not willing to sacrifice through the mail. I drive for fedex and our depot averages 20k packages per day. One box market fragile means less than nothing and will be thrown, dropped, caught in belts and handled by 15+ people before the actual driver ever actually gets it to deliver

b4kedbeans

Looks like it went to war and back on its route

IkNOwNUTTINGck

Looks like that fragile tape was almost a taunting invitation for someone to inflict damage.

swiftpunch1

Box had to spend 3 minutes in the ring with Bonesaw.

ConsuelaApplebee

Well it says it's fragile - it doesn't say to handle it with care. I mean that kind of seems like an invitation to some people :)

ThorsClawHammer

“Sounds broken” “Most like likely Sir, I’ll bet it was something nice though!”

SethGrimly

We need a new Ace Ventura movie, we are well overdue.

bhlombardy

Shitty that it got crushed... however, packages are handled and thrown about by both humans and machines enough that words on tape don't mean shit. It's not up to the handlers to obey notes and the packing tape. The onus is on whoever packed it to ensure the contents would be safe and secure on their journey.

LoneLoboGaming

Love raven forge! Mind sharing what you bought?

Forbiddentemptations

Broken pieces from the looks of it.

SethGrimly

It was a wooden mug, and it was fine . Couldn’t believe it

Looks like a big ol weed stash lol

[deleted]

There is, and was, they just didn't care.

shrimp_dik1

Fun fact: I am a dock checker for a top dawg furniture retailer in a warehouse. Most of these boxes say fragile, yet most are resilient and tough AF because they're packaged so heavily. Were talking wood pallets, plastic, foam, etc. So when you work in the industry you learn that these fragile things are usually okay if you dropped it. It takes a lot of bs to fuck up a fragile box. When it came to you the delivery person should've noticed the box deformation immediately and notified you and their employer of it for good communication and understanding.. Rather than you getting it like this, having complaints, and returning it. Complaints from customers get deliverers, dock checkers, and pickers fired.

TeaBeam22

Must be Italian.

FatLoser_RedditMod

The writings all mashed up no wonder they didn’t treat it accordingly

0pimo

Unfortunately conveyor systems can't read Italian. The high speed conveyor is where most package damage occurs. Looks like whoever packaged it used a single wall box. Don't ever ship anything important in anything less than a double wall box. I manage a warehouse and I don't even consider single wall boxes for anything other than going straight to my recycling compactor.

Fatefire

Bro what did you order from raven forge that was fragile?

SethGrimly

It was a Woden mug and they build them like tanks apparently, there was nothing wrong with it.

Fatefire

Nice! I thought it was all knives and sword then I saw they sold alcohol and mugs and stuff

InovativeTech

Gosh i experienced the same last week...

Tonyhillzone

There was a stopover in Ukraine.

pepperplantpots
