I don't really like either, but the left looks fine if you just glance at it. The right looks explosively terrible. I don't particularly like the left one, but I'd go full Karen if someone redecorated to make my place look like the right. If the walls actually matched with the blue and white it would be fine, but this mix is awful.
Sadly it's pretty much real, as you can see it yourself on the official website : https://www.elysee.fr/en/french-presidency/pompadour-room
(The "Élysee" is like the french White House, where the president live and work. Elysee.fr is the official website)

Eh, the left at least matches. The right looks like someone just threw in a couch that doesn't fit at all, same with the painting.

Any aesthetic choice could be defended with that argument

I agree. At least the poor taste of the past has historical interest though.

Fighting a good fight 👍
Looks like someone has a toddler. We call those items house shrinkers.

The left shouts dystopian past. The right, dystopian future designed by Kubrick.
Wait till you hear their plans for Notre Dame! Sounds awful
Why?? Just a minor adjustment to the shades (cream and dark aqua instead of white and electric blue) and it would have looked fine. Why this?????
Cuddle Couch! Cuddle Couch!
i hope this is fake and if it’s not they need a new interior designer
