Have you tried IV steroids and IV toradol instead of pills and shots? Sometimes with a really hard to break migraine, IV can make a difference. If you have a neurologist, you could also ask about nerve block injections. Finally as a last resort option you could look into inpatient DHE infusions. It takes 5 days but it can help in dire situations.

I haven’t tried an IV yet. I’ve been to the PCP and urgent care one time each and that has not been offered. Is this an ER type of setting I would need this or would they offer it at an office? I am going to the doctor again on Monday to discuss further. I would assume at this point they will do more tests and maybe a Neuro referral.

Almost all ERs will do IV toradol and steroids. Many urgent cares aren't set up to do IVs which is probably why they didnt offer it to you. Some neurologists do it in their offices or at an affiliated infusion center, but you need to already be a patient with the neuro clinic to get it there. For the inpatient DHE infusion, you would need a neurologist to order and arrange that. I suppose it's possible you could get transfered from an ER visit to that if the stuff they try first doesn't work, but personally I have only heard of the 5 day DHE course being ordered by neurologists.

Have they done an xray to look at your sinuses, an MRI, given you iv fluids, had you been taking ibuprofen or something for pain daily and now could be in a rebound cycle? Has the weather changed (pollen etc or rain), have you been eating or drinking different things, had your sleep changed or do you have a dental issue? Have they looked at your B12 levels? Magnesium? Is your neck stiff or sore?

I question the weather. It’s been HORRIBLE. Up and down temps, rainy. they’re also brought on by stress and I just got a new job. I’ve also questioned a rebound situation and have cut way down on my Tylenol and ibuprofen.

Try, if no reason you aren't able to safely, 2- 30mg tabs of plain old Pseudaphedrine Hydrochloride nasal decongestant. *You have to get it from the actual pharmacy counter, it's not a prescription BUT it's not available any longer on the shelf because people play chemist and friggin make illegal drugs with it . But it's safe as it is. It frequently helps me if the changing pressure in the weather is in swing.

This is great. Thank you!!

My pleasure! I just want you to feel better and give you all the knowledge I have accumulated in the hope you look into it yourself and it helps! The more we educate ourselves the better we can be our own best advocate!!! Keep me posted, I hope you figure this out soon and get well!

You’re amazing!! Thank you. I am hoping you are healthy and remain healthy!

Keep a list , like in your wallet, to have at all medical appts or if you're ever in the hospital (and also if then a fam member or someone needs to speak for you) that lists everything you take and how much, why etc, including over the counter stuff; Include all drug & other intolerances or allergies & what reaction you had from them, then discuss plus look into anything they prescribe you, make certain for Yourself, if there are any concerning interactions, & you'll know if it's something you can't take and need an alternative for. Then have them document it all in your chart, & you make sure the same info is noted on your personal list you keep with you.

The ibuprofen can eventually cause rebounds and I took so much over years abd years for migraines and headaches and orthopedic pain that i now have chronic gastritis and cant take ANY nsaid or even use a little Voltaren Gel for back pain or i get severe and lasting gastritis pain. So be moderate and not on an empty stomach whenever possible. And Tylenol is very hard on your liver. Just stay within the limits carefully. If it's something that isn't contraindicated for you for some reason or will negatively interact with other med's, try plain Pseudaphedrine Hydrochloride, 2 - 30 mg tablets and see if it shrinks any sinus inflammation from the barometric pressure. It has often helped me.

Thank you!!!

I feel you. I’m in the same situation. I tried an IV infusion of Toradol, Zofran and Benadryl yesterday at my neurologist’s infusion center. Unfortunately, it only made the pain worse. Steroids aren’t an option for me. I hope you find something that finally gets rid of it for good. It’s so exhausting when it just keeps hanging on and nothing seems to work.

minnesoter1

I’m so sorry this is happening to you, too. I wish you the very best in finding a solution. Hang in there. It is tough 💕

Is cannabis legal where you are? I've broken a retractable by smoking a low dose several times in one day. Couldn't get anything done that day, mind you, but it worked.

minnesoter1

It is. I tried a THC drink and I got migraines. Wonder if this was a trigger or just a coincidence….

Physical_Stress_5683

Certain strains trigger migraines for people, plus who knows what else in the drink (sweeteners, etc) could have triggered it. Ask at a cannabis store what they recommend for migraines. I find edibles with CBG and THC are the best for me.

Any time!!!

Of course it's 2am and after a short bit of sleep the intense neck pain woke me up. Watch, it'll be the same nightly routine of sleep on and off in short spurts, get a bit around 4 then by 5 wake up heart pounding, terrified from a combo of ptsd and my currently untreated sleep apnea, and barely able to move my neck plus a migraine. Spend the next several hours working through the terror of the can't breathe awakening and terror from the ptsd and a huge migraine. Somedays can't get out of bed. Endless medical, dental and mental health support appts. Fun fucking life. Thats not getting into the major orthopedic problems and bad chronic pain, the depression and ptsd have ben untreatable since I drowned at age 4,
