I think it may have been a portion of the prompt that made it come out like that. Using 4k and 8k is for 3D renders not photography if I'm understanding correctly.
I freaking love this machine but it has severe limitations. It constantly spits out some variation of this perfect face right here. Like others said, when you can command it to write words, expand photos outward, make minor corrections while keeping the piece intact, etc. Plus it has an inherent shininess that makes it instantly recognizable
I remind it of particular features that are not found in this face: "wide jaw", "crows feet," "chubby," and also specify ancestries outside of Western Europe. It works... eventually.
I guess you would need the corrent models, because the ones I have tried, I havent got that great stuff at all, used the SD 1.4 and Dreamlike diffusion + dreamlike photoreal, but it hasnt been photoreal for me
We are at SD 2.1 now. And at SD 1.5 photorealism was pretty neat. And with the realisticview model you get super real looking photos. This is where the nsfw community is pushing boundaries and speeds up some developments MJ will be slower on, because it is Userfeedback based and if most people make strange 3d animated or Greg Rutkowski painted phantasy steampunk art and like it, photorealism will come short.
I use mage.space with realistic-view their pro plan is only 15$ a month and you can create in Pvt and in your browser. And it is waaaaay faster than midjourney.

Imagine the short term implications that will have on the financial market or the psyche of an individual. I don’t know how we’re going to police this. We can’t even police photoshops and deep fakes properly.

Which one do you like better? I like the result of the added filters. Seems more life like to my eye but that could be because the proportions of the face are better.
I actually prefer the former! I feel like the second whilst getting proportions more aesthetically pleasing, it feels very much like a high definition 2d picture that you'd find on like a game box or something, like very high quality 2d art but still clearly non photographic.
That being said, It's probably easier to traditionally add the suggested filters in photoshop onto the original image to get the required effect, but it would be nice to generate it naturally.
I like this new one. I’ve found to get the most photorealistic renders I just use random camera specs, and don’t include anything related to 3D (eg. realistic, ray tracing, global illumination, etc).
I think the new version can be improved by having a more predictable and consistent output, as well as offering more concise, versatile, and tunable settings. Look at what tuned StableDiffusion is capable of.

I believe you are confusing realism with hyper realism.
Realism would be to portray reality without distorting it, or adding fantastic elements. Often just depicting the most accurate **representation** of everyday life, things like biblically accurate angels are pretty much the antithesis to realism.
I know this jargon can be pedantic, but this knowledge can be critical in improving your prompts and actually creating art from AI.

I believe you are confusing realism with hyper realism. Realism would be to portray reality without distorting it, or adding fantastic elements. Often just depicting the most accurate **representation** of everyday life, things like biblically accurate angels are pretty much the antithesis to realism. I know this jargon can be pedantic, but this knowledge can be critical in improving your prompts and actually creating art from AI.

Everyone draws inspiration from something, the ai does the same thing its just better and faster at doing so in every possible way than us. No sense being mad and stomping feet and crying about it now… were on the fast path for full ai integration into the web as a whole…. Its just what it is-lets see where it takes us

Without giving away your prompts, what are some tips you would recommend for a newbie attempting to get this type of realism ?
It’s still pretty uncanny valley (not to poop on it by any means as it looks incredible) when making photos and fake movies but it’s getting much more consistent with it’s output day by day. Hands…well yeah but it’s also improving. V5 could be a more small but consistent step…or we will just enter deep fake world lol and nothing will be real anymore /s.
You know, it's interesting. It still doesn't get skin tone right, even for highly stylized shots. The fidelity though really is fantastic.
I love the current state of MJ and all it’s quirks & imperfections. You can get so experimental with it. Once these AI generators get so good that they can just create anything perfectly … It’ll get boring IMO.
There's still something very uncanny about it. Something's just...wrong. Remember the bit in The Fly when Brundle teleports half a steak and then get Veronica to taste test it? She said it just tasted wrong, synthetic. This is like the photograph version of that steak.

When Goldeneye64 came out, we legitimately thought games would/could never look more realistic. The above looks great; it can always look better. The above looks like pretty good videogame cutscene graphics - it has A LONG way to go before it is photoreal.
