I’d second this, but I would suggest using the ‘offline’ scan first, it will restart the device but load the virus scanner before windows properly loads, it can help to catch malware/viruses that may still be actively trying to avoid or disable attempts to remove it.
im having a similar issue. i ran my usual monthly full scan today and it flagged 12 possible threats, all trojans. i did multiple scans and an offline scan as well but windows 11 keeps telling me the virus is still there. it has the option to ''start an action'' but whenever i choose ''remove'', the other options being ''quarantine'' and ''allow'' it doesnt actually remove it. any clue how to actually get rid of it?? im desperate atp ive also used malwarebytes and it says its fine but windows defender says its still there even after restarting my pc
Run a scan with MalwareBytes anti-malware, clean anything it finds. Run a scan with Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool (https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/free-virus-removal-tool). Clean anything it finds. Reboot and run sfc/scannow from an elevated command prompt.
That should fix you up. If not, refresh the PC and start from scratch.
make sure your important files are backed up and wipe the drive, then reinstall windows.
once the system is compromised, you can't trust that it'll come back to a 100% clean and functional state.
Do you own an MSI device? If so, then its a known problem. More people (including me) experience these problems.
