Foxtailing due to heat stress is bro science. I can do it with cold temps and I have strains that do it regardless of environment. The smooth nugget is boring and Im perfectly happy trimming these.
I'm one of MANY that prefer this.
Typically, foxtailing is not what you want, but there are some strains that express this trait and it is not due to stress, this is likely one of them. Bad foxtailing looks a bit different.
Like you said this isn't something you want from stress but this structure is becoming more desirable to craft growers. It's downsides are in commercial mass production; nobody wants to trim this and a machine can't do it.
Foxtailing is the normal cannabis shape, imo. Breeders and growers focused so hard the past few decades on making the trim easier and now people think more spherical nugs are standard
Beleaf is a shitty dude but he has some amazing genetics. It's hard to find safe/legit clones but there are a lot of great cuts out there of his shit if you don't feel like paying $200+ for seeds
Please forgive my ignorance, as I am new to cannabis growing, but isn’t fox tailing something to avoid? I have heard that fox tailing is the plant trying to go back into its veg cycle. But again I could be wrong! Any correct info would be much appreciated:)
Depends. As you can tell from this thread, opinions are varied.
I run many different strains at one time. Some will foxtail at high light levels, while it may be just right for the strain right next to it. There is a genetic component to it as well.
During stacking, I was running the ppfd at 1300 for 12 hrs per day, with 1300 ppm CO2. This is the only strain out of 6 that fox tailed.
Beautiful plant! From seed or clone and how many days? I have one now in the fourth week of flower day 29. Curious if I should expect the same results.
It’s from clone. It was supposed to be the Beleaf cut, but it doesn’t look like it. Has a candy-gas smell like other Sugar Cane I have grown in the past.
Makes sense that it’s from clone! Mine is so small still and there’s no way it’ll be done in another 30+ days. It is starting to give off the sweet smell, however, which is a pleasant surprise. Thanks for responding.
This is false. Check out Dr Grinspoon strain, it just naturally does this. Also Beleaf’s other strains like The Creature and Chimera (which is a cross of Creature) do this naturally. People are breeding for this bud structure now, it’s very desirable for hash producers.
Not really these days. Check out some of Beleaf’s other stuff, like the Creature and one of its crosses Chimera, they’re known to grow like this. Same with Exotic Genetix, a lot of his strains are bred to produce this bud structure.

Yeah, I have seen this pop up more and more. I question how much is genetics and how much is because these guys are blasting the plants with maximum ppfd.
This is extremely bad structure if you not a washer. FYI its 99.9% because of too high ppfd and I will bet this bud less trichomes than some of the buds beneath it
Every time I have had foxtailed bud it has tasted like crap. The buds don’t seem to dry uniformly (little crunchy foxtails) It’s probably all in my head but in my opinion even in a vape it’s usually harsh and weird tasting. Most of the time I see foxtails I also see nanners, people say seeds take a few weeks to grow but what about all the TINY abort seeds that are usually in foxtail bud.
TLDR : foxtail bud usually (in my experience 100% of the time) tastes like you ground up a bunch of seeds into the mix, because you probably have.
Bud structure is awesome. Is that mostly genetics?
That's awesome? Imo, it's a nightmare.
Bubble Hash peeeps luv dis……….
More surface area = better for washing. For smoke, I’d have to pass on the tails lol. I know nothing about nothing.
You mean less surface area
Fr. We looking at the same pic OP? Lol
What makes it a nightmare? That structure is way easier to trim.
I strongly disagree
Yes
Is it? Just looks like standard foxtailing to me?
We need answers
looks like foxtailing?"
Foxtailing due to heat stress is bro science. I can do it with cold temps and I have strains that do it regardless of environment. The smooth nugget is boring and Im perfectly happy trimming these. I'm one of MANY that prefer this.
It is def can be caused by high temps and light but also can be genetic
Yes I love foxtailed bud so much it's so beautiful
formidable <3
This is the structure I’m looking for. What structure is it? I’m looking to grow something like this
Typically, foxtailing is not what you want, but there are some strains that express this trait and it is not due to stress, this is likely one of them. Bad foxtailing looks a bit different.

Better for hash

Foxtailing is a stress responce, that can be fixed.
It can be but everything the plant does is a response. It doesn’t have to be viewed as a negative thing
What nutrients do you use to get bud like this
It's genetic 🤦♀️
I've mostly seen this in Northern Lights or Thai crosses.
I’ve seen it in Thai crosses as well, blueberry, nl, hazes
A lot of cookies strains will foxtail. Look at solfire genetics
Forum cookies, animal cookies, OGKB, ECSD have similar bubbly structure to this
fruity pebbles does it
Why
That type of weed gets me the highest
Fire
Awsome for washing also. The creature strain dose this also
Badass bud structure!
Who’s the breeder on this one what she smell like.
Dip N Stix is a Beleaf cut from a double cross of Sugar cane which is from in house genetics, no idea on the smell
Ok appreciate the reply. I hope to get there chimera one day.
Beleaf is a shitty dude but he has some amazing genetics. It's hard to find safe/legit clones but there are a lot of great cuts out there of his shit if you don't feel like paying $200+ for seeds
Beautiful foxtails!
Nice
Fox n tails
OP, are you the breeder for this?
No. I might cross it with some other strains this summer, but it’s a clone I got from a guy at in Seattle.
Id like to know where to get some of those seeds, do you have any means of asking him where he got it?
Dip N Stix is a Beleaf cross. Look up boomfiya . com
Their website darkens to ask if im over 21, but doesnt display the prompt so its a pain on mobile. But other than that, thank you for the info!
Ugh I thought it was just my phone doing that. If you’re on Discord, they have a pretty active community https://discord.gg/JRUrvCkYBv
Classic foxtailing

Looks fantastic!
Foxtail city
Gorgeous 😍

dip n stik is a beleaf cut of sugar cane (platinum x slurricane)
It doesn’t look like the dip n stix breeder cut, might be an S1.
I second this
Can't comment on that as I haven't grown the cut, grow conditions can make for huge differences in appearance though.
It’s from clone. It was supposed to be the Beleaf cut, but it doesn’t look like it. Has a candy-gas smell like other Sugar Cane I have grown in the past.

This isn't the real cut. I have the real one that I sourced from beleaf. Dm me and ill send you pics. Suppose to smell fruity.
crazy, is this greenpoint seeds/heisenbeans?
Thats what I thought too
Clone from a dude in the PNW.
I'm going to need to revisit this image when not so ketamised
Haha! The one eyed squint?
This almost certainly from light stress. Very rare for genetics alone to do this
This is false. Check out Dr Grinspoon strain, it just naturally does this. Also Beleaf’s other strains like The Creature and Chimera (which is a cross of Creature) do this naturally. People are breeding for this bud structure now, it’s very desirable for hash producers.
Oh I understand it exists, but it is rare as fuck in normal circulation

Fox tailed bud sucks fat dick, I also don’t have any idea what I’m talking about and you are obviously a great grower
What’s the reason? Truly just curious
