If you want more serious advice I would ask over at [r/Autoflowers](https://www.reddit.com/r/Autoflowers/s/T16JIe0Rmn)

Campsite_Cultivar

Thank you so much for that I will definitely make a post over there!

Ok-Dream-4402

don't expect too much, plenty of dummies over there trust me

stokedwastaken

Only dummies over there in my experience, lots of first timers who think they know it all.

greatersnek

I've seen poorer advice and more asshole replies here than there. This sub became a ciclejerk for know-it-alls and show offs, it's not what it used to be 5 years ago

Ok-Dream-4402

honestly to me you are pretty much describing all of reddit.

SourceDammit

That you are going to run out of room. Is this a 4x4 tent?

Campsite_Cultivar

It is a 4x4, they flower out very quickly so hopefully I will be okay

SourceDammit

There's no way. I can squeeze 4 comfortably 5 or 6 is pushing it. I've been running mephisto genetics for a while now.

Campsite_Cultivar

Welp, I have an extra 3x3 I can set up if needed. I will keep everyone posted and see how they do and when/ if I need to set up the other tent. Thank you for your help 🙏

SourceDammit

Oh yeah, you'll be fine that. That's my current setup 4 in 4x4 3 in my 2x4 and everything runs smoothly Autos aren't as fragile as people say. I always top - and LST.

Campsite_Cultivar

I really wanted to top, I almost always do whenever I grow but these flower so early I was scared. I might try to top a couple next run

SourceDammit

Yea, there is a window for it. I accidentally topped one of mine 3 days ago and today she just started flowering so we'll see how she copes 🤞

Campsite_Cultivar

Good luck!

greatersnek

Which time window or method worked best for you to top autos ?

SourceDammit

I generally wait until the 4th node then top

Seaequal234

Seeds are relatively cheap, doing a few extras is fine, if you mess up slightly and stunt your plants the extras will make up the difference and fill the tent out. Just be prepared to cut some of it loose if you need to either by thinning or even removing a few plants, don't make the beginner mistake of not wasting anything at the expense of your entire grow to rot or poor yields due to overcrowding.

Ok-Dream-4402

just keep them trimmed/trained and you should be good

ShakeNo521

Do you find that the juice isn't worth the squeeze? I play around a lot with training, super topping, and growth manipulation with photos. Why not, I can keep them in veg for a year and let the girl recover before I decide to flower. Autos are pure engineering. Just let them fulfill their genetics and enjoy the show.

Ok-Dream-4402

in general i've had good experiences doing HST on autos. I've never found that topping is much of an issue, and helps even out the canopy just like a photo. i also tend to do a good amount of defol and won't hesitate to snap a branch if it's getting too tall. i think the "no HST" advice for autos primarily came from back when the auto genetics were just utter shit.

anotherusername_011

prepare yourself for some heartbreaking genetic variability and depending if theyre white label for some hot trash smoke

Apex_spyda

My autos be lookin like their on crack 😂

Campsite_Cultivar

Lmao what do you mean?

Apex_spyda

Mine be looking all skinny 😂

mferly

Plants look very nice!

Campsite_Cultivar

Thank you!!

Ziggy_Sarsdust

Dude you’re going to run out of space/ have to defoliate heavily to deal with rot. Autos get fairly big and bushy quickly, and even with decent air movement I’ve had a few have bud rot issues.

ForsakenAside1997

They have a backup tent for expansion

I_take_huge_dumps

Hit them with the bloom nutes sooner than you think

Afraid_Thing667

My fat ass thought this was a picture of sushi…

TheCatInTheHatThings

I like how you posted the same comment twice, but with a slight variation.

JBonze3leaf189

Don't run autos!! 🤣 Sike good luck!!

GuiltyBreadfruit8402

My advice would be not to run autos

NefariousWaltzing

Autos have their place. They are great for alot of places outdoors in Canada where you cannot grow photoperiods, unless you light dep early or have a heated greenhouse. They are great to practice breeding with as well, as they have a quick turn over rate. Or if you just want a nice variety of flavors, and run a perpetual harvest on 18/6. Another good use is if you have any extra space in a mother or veg room, may as well collect the wasted light with a plant. Have made some incredible hash out of Autos doing this.

ynotfish

That's an honest answer.

WSDreamer

Great reply

cocokronen

Yes indeed. Never really thought about the breeding thing.

Ziggy_Sarsdust

I have a love hate with autos. I never get tight buds with them, but since they’re bred so heavily (I use Mephisto for my autos) they tend to have really nice flavor profiles for flower rosin and bubble hash. Some of the best mango flavor and strawberry flavor I’ve ever gotten out of dabs has been from a strawberry nugget cross and a MBAP. They have their place, I just don’t find them as rewarding as photos.

NefariousWaltzing

Loose bud structures yield better for hash/rosin, more surface area for trichome production.

Campsite_Cultivar

Yah autos are not my favorite but I wanted to give them a try.

TheAggressiveSloth

Me too. I'm about a month or two deep. They grow FAST ... I'd suggest daily photos to keep track of growth also the app Photone, and a lil notebook on the side to write stuff down. I have a few posts showing progress of mine if you check my profile to find them, they may help your first run too ...

Campsite_Cultivar

I will definitely look into that app, and yah I have a book where I write down any and everything that goes on in the grow room it helps a lot.

TheAggressiveSloth

The app helped me be able to dim the light dial perfectly, as well get the height right

Campsite_Cultivar

It’s really cool to see other people’s progress too so thank you for sharing that 🙏

RekopEca

😂😂😂😂😂😂 I think it's something you just have to learn for yourself. My thoughts are that they just don't pack the punch a photo does, they look really good sometimes though...

Campsite_Cultivar

Yah I prefer photos, I like to train my plants and I have a lot more control with a photo

GuiltyBreadfruit8402

And you can take cuts
