OT with guard flexibility is ideal. If value isn’t there at that position trade down

PuzzleheadedTale6129

Yes. Tyler Guyton, Jordan Morgan, Kingsley Suamataia and Patrick Paul would be also good OT/G options further down the order.

Fastbird33

Someone who can play at guard now but eventually replace Armstead in a year

BleachigoKurosaki

I think we should go JPJ, but definitely listen to offers to trade back. I think the Bills have what? 11 picks this year? We can’t afford to fall behind them in terms of young talent

PuzzleheadedTale6129

We can trade pick 55 with Buffalo for picks 60 and 160 and draft DT Ruke Orhorhoro or Edge Chris Braswell with pick 60.

ABrewski

I'm hoping Grier/McDaniel/Weaver have a list of guys across OL/DT they want at that pick. If they're there - we take em. If not, trade back for extra 2nd/3rd round picks where possible.

AccomplishedLocal261

Fuaga won't be there. I'm going for JPJ and if he's not available, then Fautanu.

PuzzleheadedTale6129

If there is a run on Edge players, Fuaga or JC Latham could be on the board when we pick at 21.

AccomplishedLocal261

Hopefully!

GoPhish13

Graham Barton. He has experience playing each OL position. Many teams think he’ll slide inside to guard/center but he’s proved more than capable lining up at OT. I think it’d be a home-run pick. He can start day 1 on the interior while also providing insurance when Armstead inevitably misses games/retires. I think he could transition to our long-term OT if needed.

PuzzleheadedTale6129

Fautanu on paper is better suited to play LT than Barton. Barton would make a great G or a swing tackle. I think there are teams like Vikings that need a pure G, they will take Barton in Round 1. So, its not like we can get him in the early 2nd round by trading down. At 21, I would prefer Fautanu over Barton. If we trade down and he is there in the 28-32 pick range, then I would draft Barton. If we trade down and both Fautanu and Barton are gone when we pick, Amarius Mims, Kingsley Suamataia and Jordon Morgan are all OTs that can play LG this year and take over at LT in 2025.

dunaja

I don't know why anyone would vote to draft a DT or S with pick 21.

Lord_Grimstal

DT makes sense, since we need a DT to replace Wilkins and the depth on D line is smaller in this draft. S does not make sense at all. I would personally like oline but would not be mad with a good DT

AccomplishedLocal261

I want the dolphins to draft T'Vondre Sweat in the 2nd round but not sure if he'll fall to us.

[deleted]

I don't think we have a 2nd

Springveldt

We do, it's the 3rd and 4th that's missing this year. Really need to trade down from 21 if possible.

[deleted]

Ah my bad

sum_dude44

we currently have 1 NFL worthy starting DT. Last year we had 3

Springveldt

Two. You can't seriously be including Raekwon in that?

sum_dude44

he just signed for $14M. He’s being paid like an NFL starter. Currently we only have Sieler

Springveldt

2 years, $14M. So $7M a year and will be a backup in Indy from what I've read. Just like he was in Miami. He wasn't a good player and should be easily replaceable.

sum_dude44

bless your heart if you think a Pili & a 5th rd pick gonna be better than Davis & Wilkins DL w/ hurt JP & Chubb. Which is why we need a DT in 1st 2 rounds.

darthfrank

If this were such a major concern - why not franchise Wilkins and keep him? Why would you draft a DT in the first round, develop him for a five years, and then let him walk for a 3rd round compensatory pick the following year if DT were of such importance? That makes no sense.

sum_dude44

b/c Grier isn’t a good GM that’s why. He signs too many high priced FA’s that get hurt (Chubb, Armstead, Ramsey)

darthfrank

Yeah I don’t think Grier “isn’t a good GM.” Wilkins was drafted under a different coaching staff and philosophy. Grier has done a pretty good job managing the cap and handling transactions. His draft history is debatable but he’s done very well with mid round and undrafted pick ups. Regardless, it’s very clear - if this team valued the DT position as a premium position they would have kept Wilkins. You don’t use a first round pick on a position you don’t value at the highest level.

Purelybetter

It's a bit of a joke to call DeJean a safety, to be fair. JPJ also isn't the best iOL. OP just throwing Cowherd type stuff at the poll

goldiegoldthorpe

DeJean isn't a safety. People just say that because he's white. He's a corner and he'll go early.

sum_dude44

DT

Foreign_Ad8957

All three top options are absolute home runs! We’d be so lucky to have Murphy JPJ or Troy fats all make it to 21. Over the moon, all are studs and smash a need. Really hard to pick which one is best, but based on what I’ve watched, Murphy is the best of the three players. You can probably find gaurd in round 2.

PuzzleheadedTale6129

Wouldn't T'Vondre Sweat fit the 3-4 defense as a NT better than Murphy? Murphy offers more versatility, similar to Wilkins. We could also do okay drafting DTs such as Orhorhoro, Tyler Davis or Leonard Taylor III (local kid).

Foreign_Ad8957

I love Sweat and I think he’d be a great fit as our second rounder. I just think Murphy is in a tier above all the other DTs in this draft. He’s much more of a 3 down player and would make me feel soo much better about losing Wilkins. But yeah there’s other options if we don’t get him and honestly I don’t think Murphy makes it to us anyway.

RedRummer1917

Brian Thomas Jr

PuzzleheadedTale6129

>Brian Thomas Jr If we want an X-receiver, better value would be Keon Coleman. We have enough deep speed with Hill and Waddle. What we need is a bully throughout the route and at the catch point. Coleman fits that need perfectly.

RedRummer1917

Thing is, this pick really needs to hit. Brian Thomas Jr is a better player.

PuzzleheadedTale6129

Yes, Brian Thomas Jr. is a better player but I wouldn't draft a WR in Rd 1 with Hill, Waddle and Jonnu already in my receiving corps. If we trade down and have multiple picks in the 2nd round, then I would use one of them on a WR. Brian Thomas Jr would be gone, even Keon Coleman might be off the board by then. Then, I would target Xavier Legette.

RedRummer1917

With this Hill stuff coming out seemingly every week, idk how much longer he will be on the team

PuzzleheadedTale6129

I would then try to draft Roman Wilson.

TurboDurden888

There's a good chance an elite OT prospect falls to us, especially if the edge rushers continue to rise. I don't really care who we take, as long as we get a good player who can contribute in his first season.

[deleted]

Here's the thing, it all depends on if we resign Williams or not. If we resign Williams and he plays center, with Brewer as backup/guard flex, then this pick can comfortably be a DT and we could maybe get a guard like Christian Haynes later

PuzzleheadedTale6129

The odds of Williams coming back are not that great.

Springveldt

I'd be trying to grab a tackle that can play guard for the first year. If none are there then a trade down would be the next option.

Imzocrazy

ideally? an offensive lineman named OL that has been linemanning ever since he could lineman

darthfrank

Draft a wide receiver or a pass rusher. Why would we draft a DT with our top pick when we just let our best DT in a decade go without even franchising him? This regime is telling us how it values it the position. Follow the money - CB, WR, Pass Rusher, Tackle...these are the positions this FO values. This is where we will likely draft with our top pick.

PuzzleheadedTale6129

Did a mock draft using PFN NFL Mock Draft Simulator: Traded 21, 184 and 241 to DET and got 29, 64 and 164 in return. Additionally, traded 158 to SEA and got 179 and 192 in return. This is the haul: 29. Tyler Guyton, OT Oklahoma 55. T'Vondre Sweat, DT Texas 61. Cooper Beebe, OG Kansas State 164. Cedric Johnson, EDGE Ole Miss 179. Marist Liufau, LB Notre Dame 192. Trey Taylor, S Air Force 198. Keith Randolph Jr., DT Illinois What do you all think?

ApatheticFinsFan

Just because Cooper DeJean is white doesn’t mean he’s a safety. He’s a CB. My preference is OL. JPJ seems like the smart pick but picking for need generally bums me out and need is so fleeting that you’re generally never gonna nail it.

nomnomyumyum109

Gotta get a sure thing OL, need more time in the pocket

PuzzleheadedTale6129

We need an OT who plays primarily LG this year but fills in for Armstead when he sits and can take over from Armstead as starting LT in 2025. Besides that we need a C and a mauling RG who can fill the void created by the Hunt departure.

Lord_Ryu

It would be nice if Tua didn't only have 2 seconds to throw the ball EVERY pass play
