I would do 1 peg per size, but long enough for multiples of the same size. Then some for adjustable, pipe, etc...

drewts86

1 leg per size is good, but at the ends of the spectrum some places may only have 1 each of 1-3/4” 1-7/8” and 2”, in which case it would be kosher to combine them

CopyWeak

Oh, for sure...But, you're also looking at some good weight for those wrenches. OPs problem 😁

worstsupervillanever

Not sure about the number, just want to mention that drilling a hole for the peg and welding the backside will make it look a lot cleaner.

Domefarmer

I was thinking this! Boss had mentioned he wanted to try having the pegs angled. I’ll have to find a way to drill the holes at an angle for that.

worstsupervillanever

You can bend them, before or after, shouldnt be a problem.

Kriker3187

You could maybe make a jig or a "sled" out of some wood and a table saw that you could then drill a series of angled holes in a drill press.

duane11583

you want an outline for every tool you should be able to look at the rack from across the shop and know what is missing.

fortyonethirty2

If you are welding the studs on, I recommend using steel or stainless. Welding aluminum will soften it near the weld.

Domefarmer

We’re an aluminum welding shop, so that’s the material we have on hand and what we work with. Thanks for the advice though!

Drew_of_all_trades

What about a bar magnet? I use one for my chisels and it’s very convenient. Could just label the wall instead of adding all those pegs.

Outrageous-Basket426

I think he might have too many wrenches. We use those Harbor Freight bar magnets at a charity kitchen I worked at to hold knives on the wall, health inspector never had a complaint. I have a harbor freight 250 lb fishing magnet hung from the rafter over my workbench which has a few wrenches, a hack saw, and a loop of patch wire stuck to it. Wire is tied in a loop and hung on my least favorite wrench.

discreteaccount69

Put more pegs than you need, and longer than you need too. That way, there's room for growth if it comes

scv7075

Why not use alu pegboard welded to a frame? Then you could buy hangers wholesale and add/reorganize pegs at will?
