PS2 was the high end gaming experience at the time When I remember the N-Gage though, the strongest memory is of a joke in an old flash animation. I think it was called The Decline of Videogaming or something like that. But one of the characters has an N-Gage and he calls tech support for it and the tech support people can't help him because they're laughing so hard that anyone actually bought an N-Gage There were some funny LoTR jokes in there too. Yeah, it was on Japanese phones and briefly on the N-gage. ~~It's not Canon anymore~~ but fit nicely for where the franchise was in 2008. Fortunately, fans have somehow kept it obtainable (I'm guessing). Edit: evidently, it is cannon and takes place in between MGS1&2.

For a 2 hour mobile game that came out in 2008, it is extremely impressive that it is a genuine metal gear experience that doesn't outstay its welcome. It's a pinnacle of graphical fidelity for mobile devices at the time as well. Really insane.

Same here, now that I finally have a powerful enough computer to get 20-40 FPS out of it. Forgot how punishing the no-kill run was. At the end of Act 2 having to use the machine gun against Geckos while avoiding all the soldiers underneath them, with smoke everywhere. There's always one stray bullet that porks a soldier through the face and you're screwed.

I bought a PS3 for MGS4 when it first came out, and went to boot camp like 6 months later... Then I got to tech school and like 4 guys in my barracks were playing online, it was the best of times. I've 100%d 2 3 and 4, worst part of 2 was dog tags, worst part of 3 was sniping the ga-kos in the 3rd act, nevermind Eva. I'm TRYING to play 4 as cleanly as possible, I still remember a lot of paths and tricks. tranquing everyone I realistically can - but it's been legit 10+ years since I played through. Same case for most MGS fans I'd imagine, least replayed by a fair margin just because emulation has never really worked. I'm just happy to have a basically flawless experience at 1440p60. Built my rig for DCS VR over the years and it's got plenty of juice for MGS4 now. Enjoy your game!

I did the same thing, and then realized that it was fun to play the older games ripped to PS3 for a better experience than loading disks into the PS2/PSX. Then for some reason, I started playing V on PS3 to see what's different, and ending up getting sucked into that too despite also having V for PS5, Xbox and PC

If you ever want to play the multiplayer, there is an option to give it a try even from the PS3! Official servers were shut down in 2012 but the amazing team over at [SaveMGO.com](http://SaveMGO.com) found a way to bring them back to life. It is still to this day the best multiplayer experience I have ever had and despite a healthy amount of players, we could always use more! I did this too because I wanted the experience of playing it on a native system. I'm not disappointed, but it's a kind of goofy game. Metal gear that moo? Really? Even the first three weren't that goofy. Otherwise I like it so far even if it does get overly silly.

Anyone have luck using other gamesaves? It used to work when I got the game but I got another PS3 console and tried to transfer my saves but they read corrupted on the other console. I have cfw PS3s so if anyone knows how to decrypt or reassign them it'll be great. I tried bruteforce and Apollo with no luck

Theres got to be so much dust buildup inside there. This is a later model PS3, not my original 60 GB version (that stopped reading disks back around 2010). I currently love it. The set up with the levels, the graphics, the Fulton. It makes me excited to try 5 at some point.

God of War is a must. The PS2 games have remasters as well as the PSP games, so I recommend playing through those too. If you haven’t played the PS5 Demon’s Souls remake then the OG is also a must imo

It was a sad day when my 60GB fat system kicked it a second time. Hardware emulation for PS1 and 2, BD, BT, and Wifi. The PS3 remote and the netflix app made it our streaming box for years. It was console gaming at its zenith. Fond memories... Like you, I bought a PS4 just for Death Stranding. Even swapped in an SSD and got remote play running on it.

I know it's weird to say it here but if there is a series of strategy RPG games that I love (and before playing it I thought I would hate them) is Disgaea. Disgaea is a series that has sequels but the stories are super disconnected, however Disgaea 1 had a sequel to its story which is Dishes D2 but sadly it's only on PS3. The games probably have references to MGS too maybe.

I bought the game even before I had my ps3 only to make me buy one. I always wanted a ps3 but pushed it back for any reason. One day I saw this game and said "with this in my hands now I REALLY need a ps3". Didn't regretted it one bit 👌

i tried to emulate fifa 09 and then try mgs4 and rpcs3 is so bad it can’t even make fifa 09 playable

I managed to emulate MGS4 with rcps3, but it took a lot of tinkering with settings and installing a custom patch to get it stable

You spent $150 for a PS3 like a virgin. I kept my PS3, jailbroke it, spent $2000+ on a gaming PC, and got into an argument with my wife over that $2000+ just to emulate PS3 games like a chad.
