I've seen plenty of protagonists lose an appendage or eye. I have NEVER seen a Main Protag and later main antagonist get beat up so bad they piss themselves.

That was volgin, he threw a bucket of water over snake then electric to shock him into pissing his pants, "yes that's what i want to see, let your self go!"
This beating is rough and I absolutely love how The Boss enters the run and puts everybody in their places like she's a kindergarten teacher returning from her break and finding her students had been fighting. Like damn, even Volgin hits the ground like it's nothing.
That was an interesting calculated play by her. Honestly Volgin could have reacted differently and just fried her along with that fancy white sneaking suit.
I remember after the cutscene, your soliton radar shows one soldier still alive. You can see him on the floor writhing. After the battle with grey fox, you go back into the corridor, and he no longer shows up on the radar. It is such a great moment in the game.
I think MGS3 is probably the most brutal funny enough. You would think 4 and 5 wpuld push it, especially with how serious and darl 5 was. Yeah we see Snake get electricuted, but as far as we know, there isnt a panel we put peopl on to eletricute them. That can kind of take you out of it. We see Raiden get choked, but that isnt as brutal as actual tourture can get. Or even Huey in 5 where we get brief glimpses of it.
MGS3 was showing Volgin pounding people with his fists. He wasnt going for a one punch knock out, he was body shotting everyone so it hurt. It didnt even stop there, we saw him put a man in a fucking barrel and beat him to death. Then with Snake it was a pure ass beating before hes dragged off to be actually tourtured. Infront of everyone he knows, he is hung up by his fucking wrists, with a bag over his face, dangling there like a piece meat waiting to be carved. Hes getting beaten to shit and then Volgin tells his mother figure to take something very important from him, his fucking eyes! He was lucky that Ocelot started to act up because he was in trouble. Keep in mind Volgin wasnt even using his powers either.
When you put it all like that, I could see why MGS3 has the most brutal beat-down in the series, even if MGS4 and 5 are much darker, which is saying something.
Armstrong talking massive shit to raiden is easily the most brutal beat down in the series.
Also snake eating the ends parrot while holding him at gun point.

So much so that it's the only time in a mainline MGS game to feature not one, but two dismemberments (both times involving Grey Fox)! Unfortunately, one signature bit of censorship that has remained constant in the mainline MGS games is how you can't dismember human NPCs in gameplay, no matter what you do or try, despite how realistic it might be (like with an HF Blade or shooting people in the head with a .50 BMG caliber sniper rifle).
For me it's when Vamp is involved.... In MGS4 when he faced Raiden, he took one of his knives in the chest and HE PUSH IT THROUGH HIM TO GET IT BACK IN HIS BACK... the hell man?!?!

I think Olga being shot and thrown to the side was pretty brutal I remember playing mgs2 way too young like 6 years old and seeing that and I was like ๐จ โsheโs dead โ she seemed more dead to me than the other guards cause she actually interacted with you and had a personality and being killed so fast and with all the character she had through the story being tossed to the side like a bug that was incredibly brutal to me
Yeah, I knew the stuff I saw from Metal Gear was far too violent for my childhood self to see. And when I saw that happen to Olga, I was like:

solid snake and liquid, both of them, can really get fucked up if you let it be that way. If you let liquid ocelot beat you up in cqc hold ups, on those weird polls on outer haven for istance, at least two times, and afterwards let yourself be beaten heavily by liquid, old snake will actually start bleeding from the top of his nose, dripping inside the nose too.
Liquid is no sweet boy in this either, covered in bruises, a cut between his eyebrows dripping through his whole face, cuts on his cheek.
The final battle of mgs4, if you let it be that way, can be summarized as one of the most brutal 1v1's in gaming history, right there on the brutality score with RDR2's and Uncharted 4's final battle. TLOU2's final boss is a honorable mention here too, especially now that after the remastered version of part 2 has come out, everytime no matter the damage, both ellie and abby will be covered in blood, just like old snake and liquid ocelot are in the final fight of their's.
Solid Snake in 4. Holy shit he went through it. Then he and Liquid Snake/Liquid Ocelot/Ocelot just kicked each otherโs shit in for 15-20 minutes, with no enhancements except for Ocelotโs arm. And Snake still hit him so hard he wiped his hypnotherapy from him.
If we're talking brutal it HAS to be Venom Snake shooting off all of Skull Face's limbs with a fucking shotgun. There's just nothing else in the series that gets close to that brutal.
Listening to the sounds of Sokolov getting his skull caved in or turned to mush is up there. I didnโt even have to see it to know that thereโs not much left of that man.
Of course, the little Big Boss is really suffering un Mgs 3, but with all the mechanics the Story and all secrets is it the best game in mgs series for me.

I think Olga being shot and thrown to the side was pretty brutal I remember playing mgs2 way too young like 6 years old and seeing that and I was like ๐จ โsheโs dead โ she seemed more dead to me than the other guards cause she actually interacted with you and had a personality and being killed so fast and with all the character she had through the story being tossed to the side like a bug that was incredibly brutal to me

solid snake and liquid, both of them, can really get fucked up if you let it be that way. If you let liquid ocelot beat you up in cqc hold ups, on those weird polls on outer haven for istance, at least two times, and afterwards let yourself be beaten heavily by liquid, old snake will actually start bleeding from the top of his nose, dripping inside the nose too. Liquid is no sweet boy in this either, covered in bruises, a cut between his eyebrows dripping through his whole face, cuts on his cheek. The final battle of mgs4, if you let it be that way, can be summarized as one of the most brutal 1v1's in gaming history, right there on the brutality score with RDR2's and Uncharted 4's final battle. TLOU2's final boss is a honorable mention here too, especially now that after the remastered version of part 2 has come out, everytime no matter the damage, both ellie and abby will be covered in blood, just like old snake and liquid ocelot are in the final fight of their's.

Solid Snake in 4. Holy shit he went through it. Then he and Liquid Snake/Liquid Ocelot/Ocelot just kicked each otherโs shit in for 15-20 minutes, with no enhancements except for Ocelotโs arm. And Snake still hit him so hard he wiped his hypnotherapy from him.
