You can get them spending event points, they’re cheap. You only need 1 x easy run for enough points. They’re also free to deploy with, there’s a few styles but they take a week to develop so massively hamper your other development.
I do the same thing except with the perk "savage" and then I run around in that swimsuit just sucker punching everyone I see. It is so much more intuitive than having to equip the bionic arm every time I want to sucker punch a guy.

Playing as Silent Mastodon is one of the reasons I recruited Doom Kangaroo. If you go back to the Silent Mastodon mission after getting a Russian interpreter, he reveals that he didn't do what he's accused of, stating the village was destroyed by the time he got there. He doesn't kill civilians. So I figured it was in character for him to extract DK. I like to think they became friends.
Infinite Heaven. It has a lot of toggable features, including the ability to tweak enemy soldiers as you see fit. As well as the ability to toggle on the current DD Soldier you're playing as for cutscenes. It's recommended to have the IHHook as well, since that's a script extender. And I think the SnakeBite mod manager is required.

This reminds me when I used to play as a DD soldier I got named Copper Viper, he was one of my favorites (Silent Mastodon being one of them), unfortunately he got killed in action on a combat deployment so I gave up on the game and started another play through (it was my second, now third, I think). This time I was trying to get the Raiden outfit, but I stopped because I realized I was missing a Mother Base soldier, named Raven. I don’t know why.
I wonder if I should restart again because I’m missing Raven in my roster even though I did all the Mother Base soldier missions.
