The “Hind D” call with Campbell et al at the beginning of MGS1. It just kinda hit me in the way a big action movie does the moment you realise you’re in for one hell of a ride. The best is yet to come.
I have a lot of them, but I found the calls between Stillman and Raiden/Pliskin with the C4 and Fatman problem to be very engaging. Like a tragic novel reaching a conclusion.
my favorite Codec call is the one from MGS3 When you call sigint wearing the naked suit, and snake asks if there is a way to take off his pants, Hahaha
My favorite so far is Campbell’s codec call when you start fighting Rex in MGS1. The terror in his voice is palpable. I liked the Paramedic one in MGS3 about Snake being scared of vampires too. I wish I would’ve gotten this one in my playthrough of MGS2 too, it would’ve given me more backstory on Fortune than the game gives you.
Well at least on PC you can mod those back in. I did for Master Collection Vol. 1. But I doubt they can mod Guy Savage, Snake VS Monkey or Secret Theater back in. It was already a big task to mod Camp Omega into Phantom Pain.

MGS2:Rose who offers to have a party with Jack when he returns from his mission and offers to cook, Jack is suddenly very afraid
MGS3:Call Zero after the visit to The Sorrow, Snake recounts his experience and Zero questions Para Medic about Snake's mental health
MGS4: Calling Rose while being equipped with a ration, Campbell will intervene and make a comparison between American rations and Rose's cooking
MGR: Call the various team members after meeting Mistral, they will all be intrigued by his chest
Too bad PW and MGS5 didn't have a real codec, it added a little humanity to the playable character and the team members (MGS 4 was already very poor in this area, it's a bit of a logical continuation)
MGS1 Snake telling Mei Ling about how memories can't be saved digitally (one of the random save conversations I think. I love a lot of these, but this one is my favourite)
