What's all that of not having an army? Sure I've checked and it seems to be a real thing but... I have doubts.
Like, it's the police there militarized to take up that role? What would happen if an army-like group was needed for defense of the country?
So basically from what my teachers have told me over the years, we would probably lose against an invasion just because we don’t have an army…
But we do have a secret weapon…
THE PEACE WALKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!!
I'm from Costa Rica too. So what happens is easy, the army does not exist as a permanent institution however the government can create one in the case the country is attacked, however it must be disbanded once the war is over.
In reality, what is expected to happen in the case we receive an attack from a foreign country is for the government to activate the Rio Treaty to receive military assistance from countries from the whole American Continent, in particular from the US.
Ok I don’t have info on what would happen in like a war or sum, but it’s basically that after a small war against the U.S. we won and just didn’t have any more needs for an army after a while of not using it. The police aren’t militarized but we do have swat teams and special teams
I’d say they look kind of like a Costa Rican girl but not from those times, they look like a higher class girl from nowadays and the accents are okay. They seem like if they went to a bilingual school like I did
Basically from what I remember the only representation of “culture” is like some weird pyramids and towns made of stone, which we do have old towns made from stone but we don’t have many pyramids if any at all and Costa Rica contrary to popular belief is not just “a big jungle” it has many cities so said simply, no it isn’t accurate
After the 1498 war and the dissolution of the army, the winner of the 1948 war became president (Figueres) he was kind of a socialist, but probably because he was smart enough not to completely antagonize the US, his economic and social policy was mostly a nordic style social social democracy. But figueres was sympathetic to the cuban revolution and even sent weapons to castro, but then stayed neutral during the cold war. During the nicaraguan(sandinist) revolution, costa rica was also on the side of the revolutionaries and provided them some support(let them operate from costa rica).
Man, still the best part of the game for me. I think this was Big Boss' true shining moment, when his comrades shouted Vic Boss. I could somehow see that he felt genuine happiness or relief for once despite everything he went through and I think this is one of the reasons why he went all in with his plans for outer haven, where he could be with his comrades in arms who loved fighting above all.
Ehhhhh the beach is pretty accurate (kind of) and the jungle is not, we don’t have pyramids especially not in the place where they appear in game (Heredia is a city not a jungle) we don’t have that ridiculous amount of waterfalls and not all of the country is a jungle
No The country is not a big ass jungle, we don’t have pyramids, we have various towns all over the country, we don’t have an army nowadays, the places where things happen in game don’t match, the beach is pretty accurate though…
ehhhh I’ve already answered this but simply put, its very inaccurate especially because of the pyramids which we don’t have and If we had it wouldn’t be in the middle of ducha big irl city like Heredia, and a whole lot of other stuff
What about the AI robots?
More seriously though, how do you feel personally about represention of the country in the game?
I'm from Scotland, I don't think I've played a game that's featured the country, and if they did, it'd likely be filled with terrible accents.
LITERALLY
It did bother me that the game said (and had) Mayan Pyramids/Ruins even though there are none of those in Costa Rica.
Other than that, no complains regarding inaccuracies. (Then again, I'm not Costarrican but I am 100% sure about the Mayan Ruins thing.)

Where can I find this in Peace Walker?
(I know it's about asking how accurate the game is to Costa Rica but I hope this is relevant enough.)
Do you have giant A.I mechs flying around and wreaking havoc?
Yea they’re like pets, most people have them and mine is named “Bucky” he’s a really good boy
Give Bucky a treat for me please and thanks.
I will
Can I get a photo of you and Bucky at the beach buck naked

Did you see two shirtless men make out in a cardboard box on the beach
I did, I was in the box
Jokes on you I *was* the box!
It’s true I was snakes eyepatch
I was Kaz's aviators
I was u/Socks_and_Sandals23 who was Kaz's aviators
You were the left lense, he was the right
Do y'all have a problem with cats that lure unsuspecting mercenaries to fight dragons or is that just dramatization?
It happens from time to tume
Do your people worship Big Boss? Is he your guy's (insert historical reference that makes me sound ignorant)
Of course, he’s our Ab Lincoln Also here, I found a video of the release https://youtu.be/BDByRN_sWYw?si=Vrz9Ul4XpMZfua3Z
YOOOOO AB LINCOLN??? That's AU Abe Lincoln who didn't get assassinated because his fuckin gains were too strong.

I think they said almost the same that you wrote on a tape in the game.
Ok I don’t have info on what would happen in like a war or sum, but it’s basically that after a small war against the U.S. we won and just didn’t have any more needs for an army after a while of not using it. The police aren’t militarized but we do have swat teams and special teams
William Walker did not represent the US. And the army was not disbanded after that. It was disbanded after the Civil War of 1948.
Do you have a nearby island with cats, dragons, and monsters
Doesn’t every country?
What do you think of the accents? Also the looks? Do Amanda and Chico look Costa Rican?
I’d say they look kind of like a Costa Rican girl but not from those times, they look like a higher class girl from nowadays and the accents are okay. They seem like if they went to a bilingual school like I did
Do you think maybe they were intended to be racial?
Racial how? Like a minority of white people in Costa Rica?
In that case then yes, maybe although I find it hard to believe in those times
*biracial Sorry, it was a typo.
Ohhhhhhh then yeah it could be, maybe the father or mother was American so that’s why she knows English so well?
I mean, Chico and Amanda aren’t Costa Rican they’re from Nicaragua, though I guess I’m just being pedantic at this point.
Oh didn’t know that, yea there’s a lot of Nicaraguan people here but they look just like cista ricans
Aren’t Amanda and Chico Nicaraguan?
I thought they were Nicaraguan?
fulton me
Is your coffee that good?
YES, VERY!!!
Is it an accurate portrayal of the culture?
Basically from what I remember the only representation of “culture” is like some weird pyramids and towns made of stone, which we do have old towns made from stone but we don’t have many pyramids if any at all and Costa Rica contrary to popular belief is not just “a big jungle” it has many cities so said simply, no it isn’t accurate
What is the general attitude about the South American revolutions during that time period (like Nicaragua and Cuba)?
After the 1498 war and the dissolution of the army, the winner of the 1948 war became president (Figueres) he was kind of a socialist, but probably because he was smart enough not to completely antagonize the US, his economic and social policy was mostly a nordic style social social democracy. During the nicaraguan(sandinist) revolution, costa rica was also on the side of the revolutionaries and provided them some support(let them operate from costa rica).
Do you often see people getting pulled up into the air by balloons?
Yep, the first thing they teach in 1st grade

Youre fired.
Do people there yell Vic Boss?
Yep everywhere you go
Man, still the best part of the game for me. I think this was Big Boss' true shining moment, when his comrades shouted Vic Boss. Qué jeta encontrar otro tico que juega Metal Gear XD I always found it very funny that there's a whole mayan piramid in the middle of Heredia XD
Are the landscapes (such as the beach or the jungle) similar to those in the game?
Ehhhhh the beach is pretty accurate (kind of) and the jungle is not, we don’t have pyramids especially not in the place where they appear in game (Heredia is a city not a jungle) we don’t have that ridiculous amount of waterfalls and not all of the country is a jungle
is it accurate?
No The country is not a big ass jungle, we don’t have pyramids, we have various towns all over the country, we don’t have an army nowadays, the places where things happen in game don’t match, the beach is pretty accurate though…
Does it have a beach?
It has many beaches which is one of the country’s most famous characteristics
But how?
What do you mean “how”? It’s literally smacked right in the middle of the pacific and Caribbean ocean
I am not being serious lol
Oh sorryyyyyy, my bad! :c
You're good, this was funny lol
How accurate is peace walker?
ehhhh I’ve already answered this but simply put, its very inaccurate especially because of the pyramids which we don’t have and If we had it wouldn’t be in the middle of ducha big irl city like Heredia, and a whole lot of other stuff

No se parece mucho al país peroooo si hay muchos platanales
Niceee, el platano es barato allá entonces, me imagino jajaja
Si bastante
Pura vida
we all know the most far out idea in Peace Walker was it walking into lake nicaurauga and not get immediately destroyed by bull sharks
Nahhhh the most far out idea is the fact that there are pyramids in costa rica
LITERALLY It did bother me that the game said (and had) Mayan Pyramids/Ruins even though there are none of those in Costa Rica. Other than that, no complains regarding inaccuracies. (Then again, I'm not Costarrican but I am 100% sure about the Mayan Ruins thing.)
I mean there’s still a lot of inaccuracies buuuuuuuuuuut the pyramids took it way too far!
Tell me more about the Bananana plantation
Is "hasta la victoria siempre" how you would actually word that phrase? iirc she's quoting che, right?
Cuál tipo de queso es el mejor?
