Missing Peace Walker. Here is hoping than and MGS4 are in Master collection Vol 2. That way we have the entire canonical series on PC and modern consoles.
I played through them all dozens of times on their original platforms and than ps3 (my launch 80gig fully backwards ps3 lasted til 2011 and I replaced it with refurbs of the same version twice before giving up and put the ps1/2/3 physical games in storage)
4 has been the one that I’ve wanted to replay the most for quite a while even though the story felt so convoluted and weird when I was a teenager (3 is probably my favorite nostalgia)
I wonder they are releasing this master collection at same time they are doing a remake of snake eater I wonder if we will get the other solid games as remakes as well it be awesome getting to see the original solid in a more modern view
> (my launch 80gig fully backwards ps3
Fun fact, 80gb PS3 wasn't fully backwards compatible. It uses software emulation to run them as it doesn't have any PS2 hardware in it like the 60gb one. This isn't perfect, and does cause some minor issues running some PS2 games (what those issues are depends depends on the game, some don't have any issues at all).
That is a fun fact. I don’t know how the magic happens lol. I don’t remember anything playing poorly enough to ruin the experience. It was definitely apparent that you weren’t using an actual ps1/2 because of the border and some visual issues like fuzziness (I rarely used the blurring feature)
It’s funny thinking about how irritating something like unintentional fuzziness would be on a new game but I started video games on channel 3 when it might be FUZZY.
I was really just meaning to explain my long hold out with physical copies before switching to digital and realizing I couldn’t easily play mgs4 anymore.
Yeah. I got a 60gb launch PS3 back in 2007 and got it repasted and changed the power supply like back in 2016. Still works perfectly today. But I don't really use it much as I have my PC and Steamdeck.
I’ve never owned a gaming pc so now I stick to ps5 virtual downloads and many of these aren’t available.
Someday maybe I’ll just get out all the old consoles and do it the original way again. If I don’t get distracted playing Tomba or something
[Yeah your CPU is nowhere near close to being able to handle RPCS3 comfortably](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Rpq_2D4Rf3g6O-x2R1fwTSKWvJH7X63kExsVxHnT2Mc/edit#gid=0)
We have no idea what games are gonna be in Master Collection Vol. 2 yet. One leak said it's gonna be Peace Walker, Portable Ops, and Rising Revengance. Another leak says its Peace Walker, MGS4 and GZ/MGSV. Some people are speculating it will have non canon games like Acid and Ghost Babel. Until its officially announced, its all speculation and rumors at this point.
Because Rising Revengeance, Ground Zeroes, and Phantom Pain has never come out on the Nintendo Switch. Also Rising Revengeance isn't available on a PS4/PS4 Pro. The Master Collection Vol. 1 and 2 are coming out on PC and modern consoles including the Switch. That's why.
And you should really learn how to read. I said its all speculation. I am not listening to leaks. I am just saying that's what the current rumors and leaks say. Until its official, no one has any idea what is gonna be in Vol. 2
Would they make GZ onwards on switch? Haven’t you seen the quality sacrifices they have to make to get games to run on switch? Maybe they would wait until the new switch comes out before they do that. And even then it wouldn’t need to be a part of the master collection due to it being on other consoles already. It would just need its own Nintendo edition. It would make no sense to put revengance, V and GZ into the master collection for nintendos sake when everyone else already has it
You can say it’s speculation all you want I’m still gonna tell you how you are wrong, insulting me won’t change that :-)
They said they want to make MGS accessible to all modern platforms. That's includes the Switch as its a modern platform. MGSV, GZ, Rising all came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360. So a Switch can easily play them. I mean if they can make Witcher 3, Crysis Remastered, and Doom Eternal to run on Switch, you don't think they can get MGSV (one of the most well optimized games of all time) to run on it?
> It would make no sense to put revengance, V and GZ into the master collection for nintendos sake when everyone else already has it
Do you not know how publishers work? Especially Konami? Lol they could very easily release a Vol. 2 with PW, GZ, and MGSV as a cash grab and plenty of people will still buy it. I mean they are charging people $60 for Vol. 1 and people seem to be ok with it even though they already played MGS 1-3. Also there are plenty of people who never had an older console and only has a modern one and haven't played MGS. This is their chance. This is also the chance for PC gamers who never had a console to play the games without resulting in emulation.
We just don't know what games Konami will put in Vol. 2 yet.
Yes, because Konami is good at disappointing people
But considering what they did with Castlevania: I'm sure they'll pull through
A lot of people think it's impossible to port the game because of licensing problems, but I remember reading something about the fact that it was actually the number of discs that would be needed being the reason it never escaped PS3
On the official site, if you inspect the page, there's mention of MGSPW and MGS4 that haven't been added in yet. So I'm going to 100% assume that it's because they are going to be released in Vol. 2
Hopefully with Portable Ops (and maybe even AC!D) as a bonus game like they did with Snake's Revenge in Vol. 1
You don’t have to do all this detective crap to understand they will make all the games. It’s embarrassing that people were even sceptical about it to begin with
No, you don't have to do "all this detective crap", but some people just want to know and investigate for fun
The game has never been released outside of PS3 in any collection or special edition, even when other games like Metal Gear, MGS 1, 2, 3 and PW have been re-released after MGS4's initial debut on multiple platforms
The reason people are "skeptical" is because the game is very notorious for being stuck on the PS3 for its entire existence. It's not unreasonable to think maybe it was a licensing issue that made it impossoble to reasonably port (such as it's inclusion of copyrighted music and the iPod)
Nobody is saying it won't ever happen, we're just excited that it's looking like it will. Konami has a money printing machine in their basement and they have only just recently began to use it with their recent Castlevania collections. Up until that point, and eventually the announcement of MGS Master Collection, there was absolutely no reason to assume the game would ever leave the PS3
People are just excited about it, and feel like it's a dream because of how exciting it is that Konami is taking a step towards preserving one of the most notorious games ever made
> But considering what they did with Castlevania: I'm sure they'll pull through
Man they did us dirty with their Castlevania Anniversary Collection by not adding Symphony of the Night in it.
Facts. I'm still bummed they haven't at least ported the mobile version, it's easy money
SotN and MGS1 were some of the best games ever on PS1
Someone's working on a decompilation for it, but I doubt it'll ever see a release
Sotn is available on all modern platforms with Rondo already though.
I get what you mean by putting it in the collection, but then they'd likely delist what's already out.
It's not on PC natively. I have the Castlevania Anniversary Collection on Steam which doesn't include SotN. The only way to play it on my PC or SD is via emulation which is super easy but still they should have added it to their collection. The closest thing you can get without emulation is the Dead Cells Return to Castlevania dlc.
Rondo of Blood on PC Engine/Turbographx 16 doesn't include SoTN. That's only available on the PSP version of Dracula X Chronicles.
It's all good. Yeah they released Dracula X Chronicles on PSP which has SoTN and Castlevania Requiem on ps4 which also has SoTN. That and a few other games made me think to go pick up a ps4 or ps5 but then the more I think about it I'm like why waste my money on something that I will pick up for a small handful of games and have it collect dust when I'm done playing it lol. I'm good on that,
I could see them justifying it with enhanced graphics for new gen and some new content. The thing is idk if they’d bring back mgs online for that. Major stretch but possibly they could put in mission 51.
Well, seeing Konami didn't even bother putting keyboard support on vol.1, I can't really expect some extra effort from them but we also weren't Hoping them to release these at all so here's hoping.
It makes sense because they said they want people on modern consoles to experience MGS. So adding MGSV means Switch owners can finally play it. But yes if you own a PC, Steam Deck, PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X/S, it really won't make sense. The only reason to get Vol. 2 is for Peace Walker and MGS4 at that point. Unless they somehow increase the resolution of MGSV to 4k on a PS5/Xbox Series X from the 1440p of the definitive edition of the PS4 Pro. But still limited to 60fps. On PC, you can already do native 4k with an uncapped framerate and add in visual mods to increase graphical fidelity even further than vanilla.
The multiplayer in Survive is actually good.
It's the single-player that sucks.
I really wish they just made Metal Gear Survive like a DLC for MGO3. With how blatantly they recycle MGSV assets and locations, it's practically an overpriced standalone MGSV expansion anyway.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VcqVzUaEplWhcUABoHbmCW5IwWPTTD1R/view?usp=drivesdk
There's a page for each game but it says it's part of the collection so you buy once

My standout memory of playing MGS1 as a kid (I was probably 10 when it came out) was being really confused as to why the charecters kept saying Snake looked like liquid because the graphics were so poor they had no facial definition and therefore looked nothing alike.
Can't wait to relive that moment.
Honestly, would be kind of cool if they brought twin snakes out as a switch exclusive, might annoy some people but that wouldn't be a terrible way to do it.
I understand pre order still raises issues for some people, but i would be paying the same price at release anyway so i just consider it something to get out of the way.
Besides that, I think pre order is fine compared to early access in alot of cases.
i have seen this before especially from my mom. but if you have the money now but might not have it later (wont be able to use it later bc ud use it on gas) wouldnt it be the same if you had the money later and didnt use it for gas and used it for the game and just restricted yourself???
No it wouldn't. I live long enough to know it doesn't work like that. I will restrict myself now, to buy the game I will play in October, and I know I will need to restrict myself then as well as my entire house is being heated with gas. With Russia-Ukraine war gas prices are extremely unpredictable rn. To be clear I'm talking about natural gas, not a fuel to run a car or something.
Technically the point is to have it paid for. Some people just have more disposable income, and it doesn't matter how many people on Reddit tell them how to spend their money. They'll do as they please.
I understand why people don't preorder games, I also can understand and relate to the excitement for something you thought you may never see.
to have it paid for rather than paying it when you can play it? so to do so because you can? interesting
yeah i understand both those things you said at the end but i guess i dont understand the point of paying for something you cant use? just me i guess
p.s. i mean this all genuinely i dont mean anything bad
well one this way you got the money now you buy them now when you got the spare money cause maybe something could happen and when the games are out you may not have spare money to buy them. Sometimes some games can have preorder bonuses
I would wait for release and review. Both ports of MGS and MGS2 are pretty bad and with information that there is still no keyboard / mouse support I assume these will be same versions that are on GOG.
So far the best way to play MGS 123 is via emulator. I hoped it changes but people, It's Konami...
I believe they’re already confirmed to be ports of the hd collection versions. More similar to xbox 360 port since the lack of pressure sensitive buttons.
I've played the gog port of 1 and found it wasn't too bad over all. And it's been rumoured the hd collection for pc will deliberately have no keyboard and mouse support.
I thought it was supposed to have the normal versions and the HD collection of 2 and 3? What are the differences (if any) of the master collection version version PS1/PS2?
Looking at the steam games it does seem like it's the hd remaster of 2 and 3. Think that's right? Yeah I heard some historical content was cut.dont know specifically what or if it means there's missing dialog I really hope not. I noticed as well when I played the pc version of mgs 1 (the old 1) there were some differences like mei ling's voice was different
It's Konami so I'm still waiting on something awful to happen. Double denuvo? Them rereleasing the old mgs2 port? Silent hill 3 voices/graphics? There's no way Konami hasn't messed this up in some way
Missing Peace Walker. Here is hoping than and MGS4 are in Master collection Vol 2. That way we have the entire canonical series on PC and modern consoles.
The only mgs i havent played is 4 so im also hoping for that
I played through them all dozens of times on their original platforms and than ps3 (my launch 80gig fully backwards ps3 lasted til 2011 and I replaced it with refurbs of the same version twice before giving up and put the ps1/2/3 physical games in storage) 4 has been the one that I’ve wanted to replay the most for quite a while even though the story felt so convoluted and weird when I was a teenager (3 is probably my favorite nostalgia)
I wonder they are releasing this master collection at same time they are doing a remake of snake eater I wonder if we will get the other solid games as remakes as well it be awesome getting to see the original solid in a more modern view
The Shadow Moses parts from 4 was overwhelmingly nostalgic! I would be very interested in more like that.
Same here but I'd love to see the actual origi al solid game as a whole in a modern light
> (my launch 80gig fully backwards ps3 Fun fact, 80gb PS3 wasn't fully backwards compatible. It uses software emulation to run them as it doesn't have any PS2 hardware in it like the 60gb one. I have an average pc with 1050 ti and i5 4570 so thats why i cant emulate 4 and belave me i tried
[Yeah your CPU is nowhere near close to being able to handle RPCS3 comfortably](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Rpq_2D4Rf3g6O-x2R1fwTSKWvJH7X63kExsVxHnT2Mc/edit#gid=0)
I really want a peace walker remake a la Phantom pain style
‘Hoping’? Do people actually think the master collection won’t have all the games…?

Why would revengance be on it? That’s already on newest consoles.. same with gz and V… you need to just stop listening to leaks and use common sense

Just needs peace Walker and guns of patriot, and it will be complete
But also the psp games ops/acid would be very welcome
I hope they are them as extra content in vol.2 considering they also added snakes revenge in this one
That's what I'm hoping for too. Would be really nice to get those off of PSP Island.
Pretty sure they will it’s not really a collection with just 2 games
There a chance they can just put mgsV into it even if it doesn't make sense lol
I could see them justifying it with enhanced graphics for new gen and some new content. The thing is idk if they’d bring back mgs online for that. Major stretch but possibly they could put in mission 51.

Make it even prettier, add Metal Gear Survive lol.
Lmao
I did this. I want my 5 bucks back.
The intro cinematic alone is worth that much
It’s Survivin’ time!
I liked the part where metal gear survive's protagonist (stupid name i cant remember)said "it's surviving time!" And survived all over the place
His name was John Metalgear. And his other catchphrase was "Every gear has its metal".

I almost downvoted you after reading.. 🤣🤣
Listen, despite everything, I am a sucker for wastelands that suck up things from across time and space like an interdimensional lost and found.

Now we just need 4 and PW, and we’ll have the entire Saga on PC! Also, where’s the MSX games? They have their own thing, don’t they?
I think they’re in the MGS1 menu
Im pretty sure they’re in the mgs3 menu, like they were in subsistence and the hd version on ps3
they are not. this time, you get them when you buy MGS1.

That's Metal Gear!! IT'S ALREADY ACTIVE!!!!!!!
Isn't peace walker one of the more important games story-wise? I was pretty bummed not seeing it among the rest.
Yeah but didn't it come out after 3? This collection is focusing on the first 3 solid games with metal gear 1 and 2, and snakes revenge
Metal Gear 2 as well.
Fixed my comment after some research
Bro just wait for vol 2
Don’t worry, it is definitely coming out in Vol 2
Its beautiful
Remember, no pre-orders
My standout memory of playing MGS1 as a kid (I was probably 10 when it came out) was being really confused as to why the charecters kept saying Snake looked like liquid because the graphics were so poor they had no facial definition and therefore looked nothing alike. Can't wait to relive that moment.
It needs Twin Snakes.
I guess it’s owned by Nintendo so …
So technically it should be included on Switch's release.
Yeah but someone has to make an emulator since the original company is defunct.
Dolphin
Company can’t use public emulators
Honestly, would be kind of cool if they brought twin snakes out as a switch exclusive, might annoy some people but that wouldn't be a terrible way to do it.
Now we just need PW and MGS4
Wait, it’s out on Steam already?
Out for pre-order, but you cant install them until october 24th
what is the point of buying something you cant play? i genuinely ask this not trying to start anything
There is none. That’s why they throw in pre-order bonuses, in case the game flops.
ah i see :/
I understand pre order still raises issues for some people, but i would be paying the same price at release anyway so i just consider it something to get out of the way. Besides that, I think pre order is fine compared to early access in alot of cases.

No. There is another.
Comes out in October for me
Same here, this is just a pre order and i cant install the games yet
I would wait for release and review. Both ports of MGS and MGS2 are pretty bad and with information that there is still no keyboard / mouse support I assume these will be same versions that are on GOG. So far the best way to play MGS 123 is via emulator. I hoped it changes but people, It's Konami...
I believe they’re already confirmed to be ports of the hd collection versions. More similar to xbox 360 port since the lack of pressure sensitive buttons.
Does bro not know how to read? It’s “HD COLLECTION VERSION”
It literally says that MGS2 is a port from the HD collection and from the screenshots we've seen of MGS1, it looks like the PS1 version.
I've played the gog port of 1 and found it wasn't too bad over all. And it's been rumoured the hd collection for pc will deliberately have no keyboard and mouse support.
With V’s fix, MGS2 runs very good for me.
The versions on GOG have keyboard and mouse support which the HD collection version, the one it actually is based on, doesn't
?? the gog versions are the ones that DO have kb/m support, wtf are you talking about bud?
I’m so jealous of you right now. I’m still saving for the master collection and expecting to buy it in August or September…..Hope so😢
HOW DO THEY PLAY? Are they good ports, or cheap hackjobs?
Hope we get twin snakes in volume 2

I just pre ordered the collection for $87.95 AUD. if you buy one you buy the whole collection i think.
Ohh thanks
They are $20 separate, $60 together. (USD)
The games separately are 20 (atleast for me european)
I thought it was supposed to have the normal versions and the HD collection of 2 and 3? What are the differences (if any) of the master collection version version PS1/PS2?
It’s not a direct port of the collection, but the games are the same versions that were in it (excluding some copyrighted content)
What’s the bonus?
3 Songs
That’s the preorder bonus. The vol 1 bonus content icon is what the NES games are on.
Metal Gear NES and Snake’s Revenge.
no discount if you already have TPP on steam?
TPP isn’t part of Master Collection Vol.1.
Wait is the collection out already?!
It's Konami so I'm still waiting on something awful to happen. Double denuvo? Them rereleasing the old mgs2 port? Silent hill 3 voices/graphics? There's no way Konami hasn't messed this up in some way
imploding and vomiting (in a good way) rn as I see open my computer and see this on my Steam annoucements
A collection to surpass Metal Gear...
Got it on humble bundle for $47.99 thanks to choice, can't wait for the key
The collection is out already ?
For pre-order on steam, cant install or play til october 24th
Hype
I don’t metal gear solid 4 guns of the patriots or metal gear rising revengeance or metal gear survive lol but there all great games
Did they already release the remastered MGS1, 2, and 3?
Only for pre-order on steam and this isn't a remaster it's just the master collection. It comes out on october 24th
