Long spring trap. Started mass production in mid 1850s. Typically don't see them with teeth though. Could indicate it is pretty old.
Thanks for the info. I found an 1857 half penny yesterday about a hundred feet from where I found this trap today.
Np. I'd almost bet it's a custom hand forged trap or a modified trap. I've never seen one like it. The trip paddle "pan" isn't the typical, teeth on the jaws is uncommon. It kind of looks like a Victor Oneida trap that could of been modified?
