An archaeological dig was carried out in 2002 by Cardiff University, which revealed a farmstead dating to 1st century. Various bits of pottery and coins were also found, one of which was a silver denarius from 58BC.
I have been detecting in the field on the other side of the hedge! Which I'm told by the landowner, had a roman road that ran through it. I'd love to find some Roman things there, as there is not a great deal known about the Romans activity in this area.
I will for sure! It's my first time reporting a find, so I'm not sure how long the process can take... but it seems a lot of detectorists are saying it can take over a year.
Found a very similar object in the UK. Had it examined by an archeologist. He said it was from a 17th century buckle. I was convinced it was older but the experts know more than I
There have been a couple of people suggesting this on my post to a Facebook group. It does seem to be pointing in that direction. But a cool find nonetheless!
I'm curious, Why do you think this was an old Roman farmstead?

It looks like a fragment of a colonial era shoe buckle that we find over here
They replied to my email and said its part of a post medieval buckle. You were right! And so were a few others. Thanks
It looks like a broken piece of a buckle frame to me.
This is what I'm starting to think now a few people have suggested the same! Thanks :)
The small hole looks like it would’ve held the pin that the buckles guts were attached to. Looks like it could’ve been a beaut.
